  1. Sorry don't agree with that, a Heljan 47 has superior traction effort compared to the Bachmann model. Although the Heljan model has only 4 axle drive, placed head to head with an unpowered/dead Bachmann 47, the Heljan will easily push it along the track, not so the other way around, the Bachmann will just sit and spin all it's wheels !
  2. Latest from the paint shop - 47 612 Titan re-worked into 47 555 The Commonwealth Spirit. The Yellow ends and cab roof domes being repainted, mainly to revert the head boxes back to half Grey half Yellow - from all Dark Grey on 612. Brandings on one side were also changed so the arrow is now before the InterCity script, not after as per 612.
  3. The majority of lighting functions can be configured via CV changes on the Lol 5 being used. I would suspect the cab lights will have their own F Key..surely the driver has to open the cab door door first, then put the cab light ON to find the main lighting switches, again assuming it's in the dark. If Biff is supplying the sound file, then like his other comprehensive sound files all this will be included.
  4. Hi Rob Having worked em call that "butchered" a number of Bach 37 chassis blocks to fit EM2 speakers, I often had to straighten the chassis block after cutting it as they bowed a bit. The metal is fairly soft and with care straightens fairly easily, use a straight edge along the bottom edges to confirm. Take the plastic chassis frame off and check your model, if bowed can be either be straightened carefully in a vice or if not file the bottom edge where necessary to get it back straight again. HTH Ken
  5. With the forthcoming chaos at the ports, we could be in for a longer wait, but for sure the end product will be worth it.
  6. For best results apply with water to a previously glossed area, either polished with T-cut (remove all residue afterwards) or apply some acrylic Klear to the area first apply the transfers and once dry seal with another light coat of Klear. Once sealed they can then be over coated with enamel varnish if desired. HTH
  7. Bachmann made numerous attempts to get their 37 correct, the latest models being their best, but they still suffer a number of issues that have been well discussed in the past. Lima 37's were OK in their day but times have since moved on a lot. Going by the the pre pro images of the forthcoming Accurascale 37 it's looking likely that finally an accurate fully detailed 00 scale 37 will be available RTR at a realistic price, but time will tell......
  8. I'd check all the pins are located properly in the decoder socket. and also try re-fitting the blanking plug and then see if the lights work. HTH
  9. Try Halfords they should be able to make up a spray can of Oxford Blue or something very close. Oxford Blue is a British Standard colour - BS 381C
  10. Very tricky to do, as the main body colours are very thin, it's been suggested that ink rather than paint was used. T-Cut or Brasso will take the brandings off but it's very likely the main body colour will also come off with them. Sellotape worked, but only on some very early production models. A repaint or partial re-paint perhaps the best option. HTH
  11. Freshly finished yet another HA 08 - 08 570 in Swallow livery. Re-worked from a Bach 08800. Rail-Tec transfers and 3D printed works plates. The Red Stripe and lower skirt/sole bar re-painted with the correct colours. Next up ED 08 938. Ken
  12. Yep very pleased how they turned out Eddie. A lot of work but something different. 08 761 is off to Germany . Making the most of all this time stuck indoors, will it ever end ? Ken
  13. Full re-paints of Hornby 08 661 Europa's - Haymarket twins 08 720/08761 in Provincial Livery, although there are slight differences. The majority of transfers used were Rail-Tec including the 3D printed works builders plates which finish off the models nicely.
  14. Anyone got 2 spare cab doors for the latest Hornby Class 08 ? Looking for the type with flushed doors/Oval windows and 2 door handles ? TIA Ken
  15. Fresh out of the paint shop. 08 720 / 08 761 HA Provincial 08's. Almost identical twins, but there are a few differences if you know where to look. 08 761 was a commission job. The majority of transfers used being by Rail-Tec, the Blue Data panels and 3D printed works plates finish off the models nicely, along with the sole bar detail. Thanks to Steve for quickly sorting out a minor issue.
  16. Anyone know where these 2 White parts from the detailing packet fit on a Hornby 08 ? Appear to be some type of pipe work/coupling ? TIA
  17. Perhaps they will in time, for now here's a Bachmann model I completed earlier this year, it has working car type headlights.
  18. And also 37 263 in BR Blue had Stags and nose top fitted headlights as per 37 114 37 033 in BR Blue had Stags and front door mounted headlights as per 37 026
  19. Most Precision paints according to their labels, have a "Dull" finish more like satin/eggshell and not Matt.
  20. It's one of the last of the Loksound V4's --- a V4.3 which had more function output's on board (8) compared to earlier versions.
  21. Thanks for the photo/suggestions It's 6311 in Exec livery I'm looking at doing. I have photos of one side of it I took when they worked on the over night sleeper. As usual roof area photos are not very common, it's the position of the exhaust port I was looking for - typically on the opposite side to my photos - but have now found some photos showing the other side of the roof with said port.
  22. Anyone got roof details for these modified BG Generator Vans or photo links.... TIA
  23. Battery powered paint mixers also work well - Badger and cheaper copies available from the usual on-line market place .......
  24. Hi Steve Any update on the revised 4mm ED 08938 transfer set ? Noticed your e-mail is temporarily unavailable. I've a couple of other items to order, so will just get them all together. Regards Ken
