  1. I had been contemplating the ROD liveried version of this in khaki livery but disliked the very light 'sand' livery they showed on the pre-production model. I saw somewhere that it was said that the error in the livery had been noted and would be corrected to Khaki for the production model. However, when I saw the model yesterday, it would appear that nothing has been corrected.
  2. I am hoping that they might also do the New Cross Locomotive Depot one as well.
  3. I have a similar problem with the Bachmann/EFE booster loco. I have the one in Southern green. The first one had buffers missing at one end, so went back to the retailer. The second one would run for about four feet, then stop. After a few seconds it would restart, then stop again after another four feet. This happened in both directions and I physically reversed the loco on the track to no avail. I am now on the third one which seems to run ok, but have not had the chance to run it over a wide range of points to see if the bogie slack issues will cause a problem.
  4. These night scenes are very impressive. Keep up the good work. Ray
  5. Hi Tony. Is that shunter a Fleischmann loco or something similar ? I seem to recall that Blackpool had a shunter like this, now preserved at Crich I think. See you tomorrow. All the best Ray
  6. Keeping my fingers crossed for the P class.
  7. I had an email from Hatton's yesterday saying that they would not be able to supply my pre-ordered item, but did not state what it was. Now the only thing that I think I had ordered was a P class in the unlined SE&CR livery.
  8. Looking at Isle of Wight terriers. There is another livery option for an IWCR terrier in crimson livery. Consulting 'Locomotives of the Isle of Wight Railways', there is a picture of the first Terrier purchased ex No.75 Blackwall in 1889 with a garter on the side tank, but no lettering, also still with wooden brake blocks. The running number 9 was placed inside the garter. There is also a nice picture of No.12 in lined black in A1X form with the extended bunker in lined black livery with IWR on the side tanks. Another option would be the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway terrier in attractive lined green livery.
  9. Took my Southern green one with missing buffers back to my retailer and exchanged it. Took three of the locos down to the club last night for running in on our test track. My BR green No. 2 ran fine and my club colleagues BR black one also ran well. Unfortunately the replacement Southern green No.1 did not run well. It would travel about four feet then stop. After a few seconds it would restart. It did this is both directions and I turned it around and it continued to do it. Watching the controller I saw that it was indicating a short each time. It would do this anywhere on the track either on the curved or straight sections, so it did not seem to indicate a problem with the wheels moving across or similar. I had a look at the underside, but could not see any obvious problem with pickups or wheels. So its back to the retailer again tomorrow.
  10. Afternoon Bill Yes it was snowing here in Peckham about an hour ago, but now stopped and not settled. Watch out for condensation in the garage. And a happy new year. All the best Ray
  11. We're get the railway police on him.
  12. I have done that, but unfortunately nothing loose in the box. Otherwise, everything looks good. Will speak to him on Monday.
  13. Found time to have a look at my two this morning. The Southern green one is missing its buffers at one end.
  14. A lot of dealers who ordered these do not seem to have been supplied. Under produced ?
  15. Got my Craven on Saturday. Route 63 to Honor Oak, Forest Hill Tavern. Very nice model with lots of detail in the platform area. This is good for us as we have a layout of Crystal Palace High Level Station. This was closed in 1954 and the 63 bus route was extended to Crystal Palace to replace the rail service. Can be posed on the layout for driver training ? All the best Happy new year Ray
  16. A good year, I was born in the July. Merry Christmas everyone. All the best Ray
  17. Anybody got one yet ? My regular supplier has not had them in yet. All the best Merry Christmas Ray
  18. Aah Bill the Bish, always helpful. I was involved in the Southwark Environment Trust who took on the restoration of Denmark Hill Station after it had suffered major damage from a fire in 1980. We obtained the funds from various sources and carried out substantial repairs including rebuilding the first floor part of the structure with its distinctive roof profile and decoration. We also found a tenant for most of the building, one Bruce's Brewery Co., who established a brewery in a newly created basement and a railway themed pub in the building, 'the Phoenix and Firkin.' Had several good sessions in there !!!
  19. I saw this and chatted to Tony several times. I particularly liked the working B Type bus. A great shame that Tony died so young. I seem to recall that one of the problems with the layout was that the guide wire buried in the road had rusted and no longer performed its function. That would need to be either dug out and replaced, or perhaps a new one laid and embedded.
  20. So there is hope for the SE & CR coaches to return as well. All the best Ray
  21. Hi Matt. Aah, some soft shoe shuffling. Keep up the good work. Ray PS. I will be in touch re our Christmas get-together.
  22. Try Bill Bedford for the SE&CR cab side plates. He used to do them, not sure if he still does. All the best Ray
  23. Hi James. Still awaiting your decision about Crystal Palace for next years show. All the best Ray
