True, have yet to see one in OO yet though !

imagine how boring it would be watching a train unload in real time for an hour!

As slow as that? I thought MGR discharge was at 4mph. Every day a learning day.

0.5 is the norm but if the coal is damp or poor quality it’s slower, also you have to stop a few times for the hopper to empty (in ratcliffe)

soul destroying but interesting at the same time

Don’t much see the point of the crawling . Real life trains don’t crawl much unless they are coupling up

unless your modelling a power station coal discharge plant (0.3 to 0.5mph)

  3. Couldn’t really be bothered with pics last night

First trip ready to leave oxenholme, the moon peeping through the trees

    IMG_5939.jpeg

2nd trip the full moon higher in the sky

    IMG_5941.jpeg

A stop in crewe on the way back

    IMG_5942.jpeg

    And done

    IMG_5943.jpeg

should be cancelled tonight as we got it all done but I may have to go in to take it crewe to oxley, had a look at the mileage for the week, I was doing about 550-600 miles a night which is a fair old whack as quite tiring both physically and mentally!

Well at least he didn’t blame the extra grille counters, the pink wheel counters, the wonky rod counters…….

  5. Much of the same last night but with a power pack isolated to see how it does with reduced power

    crewe

    stafford

    IMG_5924.jpeg

    Varamis unit again

    IMG_5926.jpeg

Off to oxenhome and then away to Carlisle

    IMG_5930.jpeg

Back to carnforth and back again to Carlisle

    IMG_5928.jpeg

Then just before the final trip back to oxley this rolled in and we ended up behind it all the way to winsford, as well as a GB service so it was a drag of a trip back

    IMG_5931.jpeg

    Into wolves to change ends

    IMG_5932.jpeg

    and into oxley

same tonight, if it goes well then we won’t need to go out on Thursday, I’ve got more testing next week to Holyhead though

I do know what you mean about the headlights though, my previous car had auto dipping and could be sluggish, probably one or twice a week I needed to manually take over as it didn’t react. Can’t say I’ve noticed with my current car, its reactions are very quick.

the issue I have with them is on the motorway, if a lorry is coming in the opposite direction, in particular in an area with solid concrete central barriers you the sensor doesn’t seem to pick up on their headlights so it puts the full beam on, of course they are higher up so are getting dazzled and inevitably they put their full beam on, which on some trucks can be like perma noon!

are you more or less promised greens all the way?

pretty much, ring the box and tell them what your doing so they know to signal you right into the station at Carlisle

we check open train maps at oxenholme to see what’s ahead on the signalling diagrams to get a clear run, last night there was a class 4 (75mph) freight in front of us that we waited until it had passed though Penrith before we set off

I have the later version of the Zafira (a 1.6 litre 10 reg); before that I had the earlier version (a 1.8 litre 03 reg), both grey. I recall the first time I came out of the supermarket: "now which one is mine?" Not having memorised either the registration or exactly where I'd parked, I had to go round discretely pressing the key fob until one responded...

I get a lot of hire cars through work, I called in at Aldi the other day en route to collect my personal car from basford hall, I sat in the car while my wife grabbed some bits, she ended up ringing me from the car park after wondering round it a couple of times as she couldn’t remember what car we had!

me and my lad thought it hilarious though as we’d seen her walk past twice but didn’t acknowledge her

The wagons look box fresh, so I’m assuming it’s working from Connah’s Quay, not towards it?

im going to have to ask my stepdad about it as its unusual that the ‘box fresh’ wagons are heading to crumps as well as what looks like a shot blasted wagon as there is no way a train could leave the yard and head back along the coast without turning back at the likes of mold jn but again why they would do that I don’t know

the only other thing I can think is the tanks may have been coming from Ellesmere Port, some work was outsourced to Jake’s tank services next to the station so I’m wondering if they have been painted/blasted there and are off to crumps for finishing as the TTAs are unbranded
