  1. Article/Instructions I wrote on installing CDC "Buckjumpers" J67/J68/J69/ on the original Terrier chassis. Buckjumper J65_J68_J69_RM.pdf
  2. Captioned PLA Brake van but has LBL or LPL on the sides? Bauxite or grey? I think bauxite? Red ends? I think not. Not found out what LBL stands for? Similar SECR 6 wheel single veranda brake van made by Rapido exclusively for Rails of Sheffield. 2/4/24 update. I just got one.. Steven.
  3. Noticed from my books that the Dapol loco rear seems to be different? Should it have a more open back above the buffer beam? I have a second Peckett W4 but, as I believe PLA had only one, any suggestions for a conversion for PLA? Would love to get hold of the Hardy resin body, not least because I have the lining transfers for same! Rails of Sheffield have a Rapido six wheel single veranda brake van similar to one on PLA with L B L on the side?? Probably going to convert an ancient K's Kit of an LNER Toad B too. Charlie Connor does of course produce the ancient PLA 2-4-0T 3D printed kit too. https://www.shapeways.com/product/XCQBT4X6D/pla-millwall-extension-railway-2-4-0t-kit PLA transfers are still just available, just, in the old time workshop range but I found some similar (Gothic sans serif white 5/32” letters and numbers Gothic sans serif white 5/32” letters and numbers?) , more flexible and cheaper here in USA in the CHAMP DECALS range: Champ Decal Sel #L-39 Modern Gothic Letter & Number Set 5/32” White NOS. *No vans yet so very interested in the above information!
  4. Well I guess that serves me right for not logging on here for err.. years. Yes, very much still interested in PLA. I know of Dapol and Rapido releases and have worked on some basic, probably inaccurate steel framed, 5 plank merchandise Airfix wagons wagons, two Austerity saddle tanks plus a pair of PAL vans. Thank you so much for the information above. Steven Duhig steven_duhig@yahoo.com

Today I received the following: Only recently contacted by Colin regarding setting up a forum for modelling Port of London Authority Railways, I believe Colin was associated with Carshalton MRC? May he rest in peace. Steven Duhig
  7. The D&S Cast kit version of the earlier GER 10 Ton Brake Van. Earliest versions were 8' Wheelbase (like this model).Later are 10' wheelbase. The kit can in theory be made up to either, but imho choosing 10' wheelbase might be more of a challenge ;-)
  8. 4mm scale GER later 20T Brake Van completed. Jidenco Kit. There is also a D&S Cast kit version of this vehicle.
  9. Very interested in this subject. The list above that there were only 3 Brake vans on PLA, and their disposition, is particularly interesting. I am currently building a Slaters MR single veranda type, but for PLA. PLA Livery was it seems quite a bright bauxite red/brown. This one is an ex-MR or *ex-SER, but no idea what the LBL was on the side for? https://flickr.com/photos/beechwoodphotography/52136272257/in/datetaken/ I have seen another poor shot suggesting a similar brake van but this time a six-wheeler? *See Rapido UK, SER Brake van release announcement 8-) ? This one looks like a cut down single veranda ex-GER 20T Brake? https://flickr.com/photos/beechwoodphotography/51981684241/in/datetaken/ I would like a couple of Parkside PalVan kits and some vans and (correct, unlike the GV set) open wagons too... Steven Duhig
  10. Now have two Janus in original condition, as released, but in refinished livery from photos. My third Janus now has additional details and changes, but still in the original livery as released by GV (See above)
  11. Thank you Colin. I was suspicious of that Golden Valley set! My current biggest challenge appears to be to model the three lamps on each end of the Janus! My third just arrived and I think sufficient unto the day! Re Pallet Vans etc.. Thanks for your help: https://www.flickr.com/gp/beechwoodphotography/62818fGeo5
  12. Really interesting. PLA seems to be a challenging subject? I have obtained three Janus from Golden Valley (they are still available but they are out odf the BTH etches). Started to study them and use Dave Marden's London's Dock Railways nice books too. Even though most pictures are in black and white they do seem to show several Janus livery differences in their short PLA lives? I attach my model based on my interpretation of those found on page 79 of the Part 2 of Dave's books. Wow, I did not anticipate that those nameplates might have a blue centre though! Noticing: - Shorter handrails on the side of the engine snout. - No handrail on the top left of the footplate steps sidewalls which are smooth. - Much simpler front handrails? - Bottom of front handrail has a small perpendicular handrail instead on early/Tilbury ones 201/203 seen in Part 1 Pg 75 (chevrons over bufferbeams and footplate steps with only painted numbers on the side) at least? * Will be very grateful of any help please? - (I also got two Pecketts too but research suggests only one W4 ever with PLA? Not sure if feasible to convincingly convert to an earlier Peckett variant?)
  13. Like the Janus and picked up a pair of PLA ones and etched Yorks, BTH & PLA # plates. Idea was a quick job of enhancing them, but I have found the more you observe the models the more differences you find lol! I have a pair if books now on PLA and see at least three PLA Janus liveries. I decided from the photos of one livery that when they had the cast number plates they had white highlights edges to red front side steps and also likely red handrails too. No idea how I am going to add six dummy headlights to each yet.. Interesting forum.
  14. Bought a scratch built J69 on a J72 chassis a while back. Prefer Charlie's J69s and am working on 4xJ69 1xJ68 & 1xJ65 (Have a J65 converted from J72 as well..
  15. Top: Bought a scratch built J69 on a J72 chassis a while back. Middle: Old basic Wills Finecast kit. Bottom: J65 converted from a J72. Prefer Charlie's J69s and am working on 4xJ69 1xJ68 & 1xJ65 (CDC sell J65 and F4/F5/F6 Gobblers etc. with chassis on shapeways.com. Material and detail is not imho as good but love them all nonetheless)! CDC are producing lined out J69 with correct midway ross pops for BR(GE) Ultramarine Blue and Apple Green too.
