  1. Incredible stuff you've done there. I am toying with the idea of a ficticious bit of the Moreton site for when I do my big layout once the loft is sorted but in 4mm. Remember seeing the Hudswell many times over the years but nothing else railwise. Apart from one image of a station with a caption of a Jinty (I think) going to or coming from Moreton, the only info I ever came up with is on the Bourneville site but if I can do a more realistic representation, then I will as would like to do something more than just a siding behind a station platform with a Jinty and whatever brown vans. That said, I do like those Hornby freelance vans from the early 1970s. What colour where the coal hoppers that Mainline originally done and subsequently (messed up) by Dapol? Am more inclined to go with the light blue Mainline one being right but Dapol couldn't even get the right tools out despite having them and put the same number on the longer hopper as to the short one. Were these ever in yellow?
  2. I wonder why there was only ever one issue of this Conflat, I have one of these and thought it was rather good. Maybe I'm missing something but with all the Intermodal stuff that has been put out over recent years, why have the main brands not put anything with Freightliner on them? There were quite a few liveries. I think I got one of these with the first pound coin I had. Pictures didn't quite look like the real thing and that motor wasn't very good to say the least. Cheap and very, very nasty. Wish I never bought the damned thing.
  3. I thought that when trying to get them to sort out some of those Staneir Coaches which were far from perfect but were sold as perfect at Warley last year, had they been indicated that they were NQP and priced accordingly, I would have checked them before buying them. Rude and unhelpful, Dapol only answer what they want to answer and ignore what they don't like. So won't buy them anymore, will pick up old Airfix and Mainline second hand ones. Bachmann's wagons are excellent and Hornby's using identical moulds are superior so as far as I am concerned, Dapol are of no use whatsoever. As for their 73s, I'd given up on them. Although only Railroad quality, I did pick up the Hornby Pullman one for less than half price of Dapol's and can easily put some lights and stuff in it and just bought a Lima repaint which was done very well indeed from a toy fair recently and was cheap, it works and looks the part and was a sixth of the price.
  4. Hi folks, I've a few RTR 00 Dapol wagons that I wish to replace the rather generic looking chassis with something that looks a bit more realistic. These are the ex-Airfix ones in general, 7 plank, conflat short and long hopper and long mineral wagon plus all of their vent vans except the Southern odd planking one. I know Dapol's 00 offerings are not the best but have done some personalised ones as well as having some factory produced ones. I picked up a Parkside Dundas chassis kit as they are reasonable value for money (made in UK, too) and would be grateful for advice on which ones I should go for, am finding terms like diagram numbers a bit overwhelming to be honest. Thanks in advance.
  5. Reminds me of the 9F I chipped - was yours the Hornby one? Whilst I used an earlier Margate body on a Hornby Railroad loco drive mechanism (wonderfully smooth runner btw) witha Hornby chip, smokebox door didn't want to stay on. It wasn't as if I made a mess of the wiring loom either. Some excellent stuff you have done there, if mine ends up a tenth as good as that, i would be happy.
  6. Nostalgia for me as well. When I was a kid, was frequently on all blue 503s going to Liverpool. They looked very dull, miserable but then again, Liverpool Central was very dark before the loop and link was done. What really caught my eye, still a kid of course, was seeing an 03 shunter, well, shunting around Duke Street (I think the 04s had been withdrawn by then), shortly after I saw a 47 and was amazed with this massive thing. Don't have the 503s unfortunately but have the Bachmann 03s which do look rather good and lots of Vitrains 47s which may look good if the myriad of bits get fitted. What were they thinking with all those seperate parts, worse than an Airfix kit!
