PLEASE stop using Status updates as a Tinder site. I want to know about White Rabbits and folks' Cats.
-
With huge respect, could the Status Updates be separated from the PM facility. It's getting silly.
Thanks.

It is also a What's on your mind feature in another choice that comes up!
I know it's petty, but recently someone slagged off Andy and it was on there for all to see. Andy doesn't need any more crap to deal with when he is monitoring me 24/7.
I suppose it means a change to the website but on Profiles the two need some sort of 'Warning Notice'.
Like; this one's Private and this (other) one is PUBLIC for all to see.
-
Well if you type in the 'What's on your mind' box, it doesn't highlight that it's a public message (but one would assume that no-one thinks it's private), but if you go to someone else's feed to post a message to them, the box does clearly state that it's a public message, but it doesn't stop some people using it to post something that really should be private. I think the problem is that it's the more obvious contact option and some people either don't read the word private, or alternatively they don't care.

Sometimes it's best not to write about your issues in a public place.

Dawlish Webcams are interesting this morning.

Just had some U Tube reviewer of new products groupy tell me that a USA 0.6.0. is a Pannier Tank as it looks like a BR WR 15XX. Grief!

The Groupy was typical of the sort that follow U Tube Reviewers. I don't normally watch any of that cra#, but had the misfortune to see a well known UTube person reviewing a not very good sample of the 15XX. The review was unbelievably confusing, rather niaeve and cringingly verbose. First it was super and then it was poor and that took over 30 minutes.
Absolute bollox really. Put loads off even buying one to try out!
I'm afraid I also told the bloke that Railway Engines don't have Funnels!
-
> The GWR only built the 15XX as the S100s they tried to buy from Newbury were poor quality.
And yet according to the records at the NRM the GWR were already designing the 15xx in Jan 1944, long before the SR bought any.
The difference between a pannier tank and a side tank on a locomotive without a footplate can be regarded as somewhat notional. Even more so if it has outside cylinders and valve gear. Some people get very excited about it, making claims about where the weight is supported makes a difference, things like that, which at times verges on angels and pins territory.
For my money if the top of the tanks are roughly on a level with the top of the boiler its probably a pannier tank, and if the bottom of the tanks are roughly on a level with the bottom of the cab sheeting its probably a side tank, and the existence of the 97xx condensing tank engines nicely demonstrates how futile it is to get excited about rigid definitions.

Geez. Just has some supposed 'enthusiast' on a UTube Review thread telling me that the USA 0.6.0. Tank is a Pannier Tank as it has the same look as the 15XX!
I'm obviously wrong! I give up. (Now someone on here will tell me the USA is actually a Pannier!)

"...Bing Bong..."
This is Euston. The Train due to arrive at Platform 13 is reported as running 15 Years late. We CBA to apologies to passengers and don't care if you are inconvenienced. See it say it sort it.

I see the anti Railway Press (you know which ones) are shouting that hundreds of Train Drivers earn in excess of 100k all the time. Really?

Some of those rags say the same thing about everyone - in all lines of work - especially when they go on strike.
With a number of employers / lines of work, the reality seems more like one or two big bosses seeing those rates - and the majority of people who do the real work being expected to aspire to something close to the legal minimum wage, with unpaid overtime or split shifts.Sometimes, there appears to be an element of trying to destroy public sympathy by presenting ridiculous claims as "established fact".
Round here, a well known bus company recently pulled a similar stunt - paying a local rag to print a piece full of claims that had already been debunked. Eventually, the piece had to be retracted.

Just tried to dye some Teddy Bear Fur. Failure...it died instead of dyed. Pah!

In 1964, the Mini Skirt ruined my interest in Trains. Pah!

Me too thank goodness........although my journey to work on the Eastleigh Flier (WC/BB or BR5/4 or N or U on the front) became more interesting as the 1960's progressed.
Mary Quant was though a great designer and certainly a great influence on the 1960s and beyond. Attractive and interesting women too. RIP.

Probably millions of them - watching on TV.
I must admit, though, that I wasn't watching - wrong sport - wrong country.
This doesn't stop me agreeing with some comments here, though. It's obvious that the English soccer team with Gareth Southgate are a class act - they know how to play - and they know how to behave. Long may they continue.
-
Certainly earnt my respect - and that takes some earning!
The part of Wales I live in - and went to school in - and where a number of my relatives (including some of my ancestors) were born - has switched back and forth between England and Wales a number of times over the years.
Some people might view this as akin to "dual nationality". All I know is that I'm proud to be Welsh - but I'm not anti-English.
In international sport, I want Wales to do well, but I also want England to do well - and to be worth cheering on.
Gareth Southgate has brought respect to the English soccer team - I can't remember anyone else achieving this. I hope he sticks around and - despite some very "variable" refereeing - I also hope he gets the team to the point at which they win the European and World Cups - they deserve it - he deserves it - and I'd like to see it happen under his "watch".

Rashford regains his confidence. Great to see him smiling.

What's a Polish Air Force Hercules doing flying east over 36E at 19.20 on 21/11? Route from Dublin.

The Ukrainians have shown a remarkable capacity to imaginatively utilise anything they're given, and I've seen cockpit video of Ukrainian MI-8s flying so low over arable fields that I've found myself clutching my chair when they approach a tree line. As they won't be using these as weapon platforms I reckon they'll either be using these for insertion/recovery, heavy lift, or depending on the sensor package, possibly anti-sub work where MANPADS are less of an issue. My main concern is mass - if we're adding yet another logistical burden, hopefully we can give them more than 3
