  1. I'm sure you have, or will check the Whistle position. I CBA to check, as you know I am the most lazy ar$e in creation. Phil
  2. I tried that this morning and it didn't work. Possibly because I couldn't work out how to make the Cab a Slave in the right hand socket of the same Panel! I did this and it works but not with the Coil Cable! Thanks. I shall double check I have the 2 PCP Panels and not a PCP and a PCB.
  3. As with many things, loads of us see the NRM as a 'different place' to the thousands of people that actually go there. We are a minority that can satisfy our need to perhaps witness Engineering at a Heritage Railway. It's the same with many of our views on Heritage Railways as well. The successful ones run as well managed businesses. Businesses need to make money and many of those money making activities involve jolly activities, food, drink, and imaginative marketing. We may not like Purple Bulleids or inappropriate stock etc. However, punters want a good experience and will pay for it, especially if the reputation of the success of said experiences is well sold. Striking the balance at somewhere like the NRM requires a Business Head that recognises the best ways to keep the place afloat. If that means loads of seating and rather gimmicky selling areas then who am I to complain? Phil
  4. Well identified Jol. That's exactly the sort of ideas they could consider. P
  5. Is it safe here now? A problem I have is that I've lost track of whomever owns what these days. Except for Comet being part of Wizard and LMS not being a railway, but a Frankly (see what I attempted to do there?) excellent provider of SR Buffer Stops (I think?). Finally it will be brilliant if Squires could make certain parts of kits available and also liaised with certain Loco Kit builders to support them (say) technically and would do it for nowt, just because they want to help. PDK do both those where possible. ATB Phil
  6. Citizens Advice are very good at looking at this sort of thing...no charge and it's confidential of course. Try getting a chat if you have a local set up. Phil
  7. Grief! Another 'handbags' development I see. All hail Squires and the DJH Range. It will be interesting to see how they progress this and their existing ranges. The ex DJH 7mm range is certainly worth the effort. Whataboutery has spoiled a good news thread. Phil
  8. Motors and gearboxes were excellent. Ready built were great value. I hope this works for Squires. Phil

  10. Ref (at least) Bulleid Pacific front Number Plates and the 6s and 9s. One has to be careful as several had different Plates in their lives. Check the Loco you have/want, are building, and the guise you want it in and the time/era/(day?) you want it! 34069 and 34096 in particular; (no sniggering at the back!). I've been renumbering a few and Fox kindly supplied one set that I've used recently with a choice of Front Plates as Tony has described above, that is G.S. and Curly! I think I found that I needed the G.S version on checking the photo collection Anyone else found that with Fox? We all know you need to check the Colour too, although that was less often anything other than White on Black. Sadly I doubt I'll ever get every identity correct and most of my Engines will have to cover at least half a dozen years and many Works visits. Those WR Kit builds look excellent. The castle is lovely, but has a Portescap. Great for DC of course but not my DCC outfit. Phil
  11. Umm. I see. OK if it had been Accurascale Matt with that tone. Back...too shiny. Front...ghastly. P
  12. In what way Rob is the Black so off? Is it because Dapol realise that there can only be a filthy Mogul and so it won't matter? Sorry, also I think that Green is far too Victorian Toilet Tile Green. Still love the Dapol Moguls though. I do not need another one...no way. Phil
  13. Blimey, I never knew you could do that; thanks. I picked up an unused NCE Powercab full set at Auction and in total with commission and postage it still only cost me £120. Not sure if it had the upgraded Chip, BUT it works perfectly. I shall use one of my two (yes I know) other Handsets as the second Slave as you suggest! Also, as stated above, the O6 is fine for others to use just for stop and go sort of Op's. In fact at the only Exhibition to which I took a previous EM layout, my Son, on Control at the front of the layout, used it for shunting an 08...for two days of 6 hour shifts! That 08 had a superb West Coast Digital Sound Chip with amazing slow speed control. Phil
  14. I'm sure it was his show in the afternoons where 'Elvis' would arrive in the building and answer questions? I'd often be driving home from my HQ in Chichester, to Ewell, where I lived until 1992 and then Horsham. There were times I had to really try not to crash as I was laughing so much. Simple, daft things but just so like you were there in his 'gang', having a huge laugh. Great loss to a superb broadcaster. Thanks for those good times and RIP. Phil
  15. If those Trains appeared on Hills of the North then those Trains existed. Phil
  16. I use Powercab and an O6. I really do not like the O6. Limited functions and the Control settings are poor IMO. Compared to the finesse of the Cab, it is awful...sorry. I await all the huge fans...but that won't stop me advising to try another way. Phil
  17. Grief. I didn't even know there were 'inclines' there. In good old Steam days I never noticed any sort of profound struggling. Maybe I was asleep? I can understand things struggling west of Newton Abbot as most stuff has always had that problem, unless lightly loaded and the appropriate physics was positive. 'Even' A4s did well when they appeared and they were 'Cruisers'. However they were quite special Engines, as proved on their Swansong workings in Scotland. Foreign Toy Trains of this type aren't much kop then. P
  18. John, did that Q1 work to 72A with that Engineering working or come off at Yeovil? Or was it 'fantasy'? Phil
  19. By information but not knowingly: Devonport Junction Plymouth 1948, age 1. Actually as a Spotter. Devonport Kings Road BR SR, September 1958, Footbridge over Goods Yard (Plymouth). On starting Sec School. Closely followed by North Road Station and nearby on Walls and 83D Laira Shed; ooooh that was a bit scary at first! Loads of boys from most Schools, were Spotters back then; until Girls became interesting! P
  20. Please respect the Copyright. I can't see any sort of bends in the Bunker or FP so I have no idea what that was all about! I also can't see any suggested taper of the footplate towards the rear Buffer Stock. I got hti from quite a collection afetr a search for Z Class 0.8.0 Phil
  21. This is the only pic I can find at the moment. Doesn't help really. P
