  5. So with a little luck the layout will be attending Scarborough soon the details are below Scarborough Model Railway Show Newby & Scalby Community Hall Scalby Road Scarborough YO13 0RA Saturday 7th August 2021 10am to 5pm
  6. Hi Terry been a while since I posted here You'll be glad to hear your class 70 and MPV are still running well on my layout though it is not the original one, we've moved several times and even had to leave an entire layout once. Hope you'll get back into the hobby again Regards Shaun
  7. I haven't posted Here for a while but to be honest with the current pandemic situation there is really nothing to report of progress on the layout Having said that there is debate of weather the small show at Scarborough will go ahead in August though I'm thinking it may not I do post on the Facebook page now and again so if any updates I will post on there Hopefully we can all get back to some form of normality soon
  8. Merry Christmas from us at Entering the Yard Next year with any luck we can all get back to normal but with York already cancelled it may be a While before normal comes into effect Shows wise not a clue theres been no contact and with some shows already cancelled I'm looking at Bridlington for 2021 for the first show Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
  9. Thomas The Tank Engine DCC Sound & Smoke Fitted Part 2 Assembly & Testing So After my laptop has charged up again Once the generator was dry the main bodywork was placed back onto the main chassis and I may say a touch of paint goes a long way to looking bit more like Thomas Wiring is something I'm not a fan but I'll give it a go, first thing was to cut the pin connector off for soldering straight to the major components I had to google which wires went to which, I did have a sheet somewhere but lost it Strange thing is someone has wired the generator to the lights but after reading the instructions the Brown wire and the blue wire is the correct way after tweaking with the Cv'S (still haven't got that right yet) Once everything was wired I tested to make sure everything was workinng Putting back together was tricky though, where the wires are connected to the motor were just touching the top of the boiler casing so a bit of persuasion was needed for it to clip back together The cab clips in too so slipping it back into the main casing was easy One thing I did forget was I wanted to add kadee couplers to Thomas so he had to come apart again for them to work... make a note plan a project properly before starting or make a list in the correct order Overall a process I did enjoy doing I do think plenty of people had tried so it's nothing new but will add something new to the layout I did the loco Percy too now that was a lot harder than I thought I'll add the video of that here too for a look
  10. Thomas The Tank Engine DCC Sound & Smoke Fitted Part 1 disassemble and making it fit I got the decoder, sugarcube speaker and the 22 smoke generator of Youchoos The sounds is that of a Jinty after a bit of research that is closest to the type of engine that Thomas is After taking him apart I decided I wanted to fit a crew in his cab so having the decoder in there wasn't an option Looing closer there is plenty of room in his coal box so I drilled a hole were the firebox is so to feed the wires through (the crew can cover them away) position of the sugarcube was next, just in front of the motor again with plenty of room and just far away from the smoke generator not to damage it I drilled a 4.5mm hole... Nope tell a lie I drilled a 2.0mm hole first as a pilot hole then drilled the 4.5mm hole The 22 smoke generator replaces the chimley and is glued with a 2 part apoxiy The bodywork does come off in one go but looking closely I noticed the boiler and cab can come off seperate so to wire him together was going to be a little easier as once tested i can just pop it back on the boiler does slot in behind the chimley but not too close to the generator to melt it The bodywork is all held together with tabs so do becareful not to snap then prising apart I will add more detail in part 2 of the write up and hopefullly the test video
  11. On another note only 10 megabytes for pictures I'm going to have to split the project into two parts and for some reason I can't upload a video
  12. Wow I haven't posted here in a while So 2020 with COVID-19 happened all the shows for the layout were cancelled, hope your all staying safe I have been posting on my Facebook page since then and one project I've been working on is a DCC sound & smoke fitted Thomas the Tank Engine Unfortunately I have just tried to write up on this on my laptop and it basically won't let me so I'm writing this on my mobile I'll try again tomorrow I can post one picture here which is good
  13. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Entering the yard Shows for next year are as follows 21st-22nd March Howden MRS 16th-17th May Immingham MRS 23rd-24th May Bridlington MRS 1st August Scarborough MRS and finally still on for 2021 Warley MRE 27th 28th November
  14. I would like to also put it is a messy job so do it somewhere with space which I haven't and also not to build the layout using an old shelf 20mm thick Oh well never mind lol
  15. I've decided this weekend to rip the track up as with Caistorail out the way the next show is March (I think) one thing I noticed was how bumpy it was and the eletromagnets was 100% working with the kadee couplings so with this all in mind I thought to do it in one go I've also got a new back scene but I'll do that once it's all running as that comes off (as least it used to)
