  1. Looking good. The filler cap on the side tanks needs moving to the middle if not done already. richard
  2. End of the year is always busy. That is why it took a while to finish Here it is, as close as I could work out it should be. next up some Robinson suburbans. Designed by John fozard just before he passed away. A true gentleman in all his correspondence with me. They look well designed but came with no instructions. I can work out what all bar one type of piece does. I will start the build and see if what they are comes to me. anyone lucky enough to have built any of his kits? richard
  3. Nice to hear mention of the WMRC boys. I hope they are all well and in good spirits. richard
  4. For 3d printing rather than scratchbuilding? so if others are interested…………. I look forward to what you do. Richard
  5. My confession forgive me father I have sinned. the first sin is these are not ECML in BR era. the second is they have no lamps the third I have not completed them as accurate to the prototype as possible. but most of all in order to get two large lumps of brass to join I used two part epoxy, not solder. in my defense I tried to solder them but the iron was too weedy. They acted as such large heat sinks that I think even a Saturn 5 main rocket would not have provided enough heat. Tony will recognize these, but for others, these were involved in a car crash and Tony thought I might like the challenge of making them look like they did before they went bump. For example the single’s tender was in in 12 bits. Not all where the kit originally thought they should be. Some filler, filling and fudging has got them sort of back to how they might have looked before the crash. they will stay this way for a while but might end up in the improvement line eventually. Can’t have too much distraction from the GCR otherwise all the stock I need will never get built. richard
  6. The distractions. they were damaged in a car crash and I was asked if I could put them back together they are of their age and I have not tried to tweak them other than to get them to run again. it has been refreshing to change tack. Normal service will resume on the coach. richard
  7. 10000 or 60700? I might have finished my layout by the second choice. richard
  8. This week has mostly been painting and grab handles/ door furniture. windows, transfers to go. Plus the dreaded ( by me) hand rails around the open air vestibule s. I have a plan but am open to plans B to Z if needs be. richard
  9. It would be visible from the other large picture window. Dettingen would be on it in the same way Springfield was on simpsons maps of America. They would point but you would not see exactly where they were pointing. richard
  10. Sounds an interesting prospect. Look forward to seeing it. richard
  11. Two things. one: it is going to be teak which I Can not find a picture of so will base the livery on this one. two: this photo show the roll down map which would cover the window by the sofa. Do I model it rolled down or rolled up? down it limits it to post 1915. Up could be from 1910. richard
  12. Really like the bolsters, they are right up my pre grouping street. not a euphemism before anyone asks. richard
  13. Thanks for sharing it. As expected you are not settling for out of the box build. I love the attention to detail. Richard
  14. I for one appreciate the details of the trip. I am looking to take the family and these give a good guide of what to expect. thank you richard
  15. Glad to hear you are on the mend. Any chance of a picture of the hood you are building? richard
  16. Yeah my negative comment i was unfortunately not able to attend. hope it went well. richard
  17. Chairs with screwdriver dimples which are clearly not just a point as they have the crease lines. need cleaning up then painting. need some depth to filler to allow depression to be made. Kind of logical I suppose. richard
  18. Use loo paper to represent the sliding roof richard
  19. There is a garden centre with a cafe/ tearoom with great food. My three hungry boys can vouch for that. Where there “Grandfather” kindly took them out to eat when we visited him. richard
  20. A carriage takes longer to build than a loco…..discuss. it certainly does for me with having to build the interior as well. richard
  21. Brass coach is like a brass wagon……only bigger. if you can do one the other follows the same principles. oh you need glazing, that is the new bit. richard
  22. Side project. numbers arrived so they were painted up and fitted. coal added and the loco is done minus any subtle weathering at a later date. richard
  23. They are paper drawings. So cad work would need to be done. richard
