  1. Fantastic 47's James! I'll never tire of seeing your weathering, all very inspiring 👍
  2. Lovely scenic work done on the fiddle yard Alan. You've got yourself a whole new micro layout there! 👍
  3. Has to be one of the most realistic timber finishes I've seen, well done sir!
  4. A very nice wagon there! The interior looks superb, the colours are spot on for old weathered wood. Great stuff 👍
  5. I succumbed to buying a Hornby TXS Bluetooth sound chip at Ally Pally and got to say I'm really pleased with it. It's never going to be top of the range but for the price I think the sound is good and it was easy to install. I do like the Bluetooth aspect but prefer to operate it on my normal DCC system. A good introduction to the world of sound and it has def got me hooked, even if I don't get the full engine sounds on my small layout! 436352232_7419772968116560_7565661485669724512_n.mp4

  7. Just found your thread and had a read through. That's a fantastic tribute, I'm sure your pal would be proud of what you're doing! It is coming along very nicely, the Turbots look superb, and that's a fantastically simple but enjoyable track plan you've used. I'll look forward to seeing some more updates and although I model in OO gauge, the appeal of O is very strong! The bulk of the locos makes it all seem so real, especially when weathered. Keep up the good work 👍
  8. Nice project. Silvertown is a railway favourite area of mine, the years just before it closed were fascinating with mainline locos hauling short trains you've made a good start, I'll look forward to seeing more.
  9. Thanks for that. The article is interesting too, I'll have a read through.
  10. @NS Peak @Hal Nail thanks for your help. The shawaplan catalouge looks helpful as they fo sealed units and opaque marker lights. Do you know if there's any images anywhere, I've tried searching but to no avail.
  11. Transfers done, I'll let everything dry, maybe a pin wash then let it all dry again and a coat of matt varnish before weathering.
  12. Both are prepped and ready for transfers now, I've just painted Kleer on the area's where the transfers would go, got some transfers from Railtech and they recommend using decalfix so that's my plan.
  13. I came across this post while searching for Class 47 marker lights and wondered if they might be suitable. Incant seem to find them in the GM catalogue though, have you a link I could follow at all? Many thanks. Steve.
  14. No, it's an old lima model bought second hand and has had some work done to it. I could always back date it a little to before it had the marker lights. It's still needing detailing and painting so could become any Stratford loco of around the mid 80's. I like your 47 with the 'silver' roof, I was looking at modelling a loco like that.
  15. Ok, thanks. I'm hoping to model 47085 Mammoth in the 80's but need to find a marker light.
  16. Good decision to keep those 47's, can I ask about 47 010, where did you get the marker light on the front from or was it on there originally?
  17. More cracking photo's! That one is very nice! Think I might have to save these for future reference! Love that 31.
  18. Those pics just ooze atmosphere, especially 31 418, the hut, ground cover and lack of boundry fences! Great photo.
  19. Finished one Limpet and started the yellow stripe on the other one. I'll have to carefully try and smooth the line between the colours, I didn't realise it would turn out so pronounced, I'll have to be try and be more careful with the next one!
  20. Thank you James, I remember that showcase and demo, it sowed the seeds for my future wagon weathering!
  21. I think they did but I've not seen too many photo's of it. Not sure I could replicate it easily though.
  22. Another couple of washes over the sides of the Limpet, one or two more coats and I'll put the yellow stripe on, and the Yellow stripe painted on another Limpet, I'm getting there!
  23. Nice photo's Steve, those wagons look great, there's a lot of older stock that will pass muster with a bit of detailing and weathering. I upgraded a few Hornby coal hoppers a while back.
  24. Agree with that! Mine ran superb straight out of the box! I just need a suitable layout to run it on!
  25. Glad Top Yard is growing on you, it's a nice little plan, been thinking about how it could be operated, should you extend fiddle yard! I had too much time on my hands Sunday!
