  1. Hi Steve, I haven’t painted the roofs yet. I’ve got humbrol executive dark grey for the roofs and used humbrol warning yellow for the fronts. I got another two pairs of shoe beams from them this week. No not going to bother with lights, just filled the light holes with humbrol clearfix and I’ve got tamiya clear red I’ll paint onto the clearfix and the headlights I’ll just paint the back of the clearfix with silver. Done the same on my blue 508 and looks ok
  2. Little bit of progress this evening, fitted the etched window frames one of the driving units and the glazing
  3. The kit is from eBay and comes with floors, under frame components, bogie side frames and etched window frames. I’ve bought Hornby class 156 bogies and wheels which I’ll cut the side frames off and glue the 507/508 frames on. I think the kit was around £170
  4. Bit of an update, painted the cab ends this evening. Tomorrow I might have a look at the vinyls and then paint the roof’s. After that it will be glazing and window frames
  5. Did you see my previous two builds? I built the Ayjay kit and another one of these but painted in br blue/grey
  6. Decided to buy another 508 kit from eBay after building one 2 years ago during lockdown but this time model it in the yellow and white regional railways livery from the mid 90s. I’ve heard Electrarail had made some vinyl kits so decided to try those rather than painting. The latest kits from eBay are now one piece body shells so even easier to build as there no trimming, filing, gluing, filling and sanding required to join them. Progress so far. Vinyls aren’t quite right around the doors and steps so will attempt to trim and shape the vinyls a bit. Next job will be paint the fronts and roof’s
  7. Looking good mate, any updates with the 508 kit?
  8. Hi, very nice build. I built a 507/508 kit last year but painted br blue/grey. I used the same motor and dummy bogie but I used Hornby r8096 wheels pack of 10 but they’re a different style to the class 153 wheels however they do fit the bogies. I would also recommend speaking to 3dprintingcorner on Facebook and sourcing a set of four 3rd rail beams and shoes as the one in the pic. If you’ve got any questions about the build just give me a shout. what are the graphics like? I’m fancying building another one but the newer one piece body kit he’s done and doing it in regional railways yellow with black/grey stripes
  9. Kadee 17 couplings fitted finally. Shame there’s a large gap between the coaches but the 17s are the shortest ones that fit in the Hornby class 153 bogies I’m using. Next job is to fit the kadee 5 couplings on the cab ends and sort out the electrical boxes underneath the coupling and next to the coupling
  10. Little bit of an update, I’ve ordered some kadee 17 couplings for the carriages and kadee 5’s for the tightlock couplings on the cab ends. Will update with some pics ASAP. Also looking into making a realistic looking gangway between the carriages and sorting out the interiors
  11. Hi, I’d like to have a replica tightlock coupler on my kit built class 508 but can’t find anything suitable. I’m looking at buying a kadee coupler but the piece underneath I’ll still need. Any suggestions appreciated. I’ve included a picture of a 508 tightlock coupler Thanks Marc
  12. Yeah the quality is much better with the 3D printing, it makes the old Ayjay kit look even worse haha. The blue/grey model sits much better. The underframe components and the bogies look more realistic and I could never get the chassis to sit right with the Ayjay kit. I would like to build another 3D printed kit and do it in the yellow livery but can’t justify spending the money at the moment with the high risk of being made redundant
  13. Finally got my two kits together, be awesome to have these running together as a six car. Slight height differences but a cool picture and I’ve never seen another model 507/508 in the yellow regional railways livery
  14. Very nice job mate, the door can be tricky but looking at the job you’ve done with the window surrounds it shouldn’t be a problem
