  1. Any one happen to know the sizes? I'm guessing around 75mm Square and 600mm high?
  2. My sound fitted Bachmann class 25 has developed a stutter on sound. Clean wheels and track and it's the only one of my locos with this problem. Any help would be appreciated .
  3. Thinking of fitting SFX50 into one of my DMUs. Would be very interested in hearing any reviews?
  4. My D211 has been trouble since new ( see my previous posts) it is currently having pick ups fitted as a last resort.
  5. Cant see anything like that and the motor unit is sealed?
  6. Looking at the service sheet there seems to be a keep plate under the motor bogey ? had a go at taking this off to get access to the motor. No luck with this and dont want to risk breaking any thing. Is there a knack for doing this?
  7. Great work as usual. Ive often wondered why it seems quite randomly red ( i assume engineering ) bricks were sometimes used instead of " blues". Problems with supply perhaps?
  8. Has anyone fitted a new motor to this model? if so any guidance would be much appreciated. From working perfectly a couple of months ago all i get now is a buzz which rises and falls as power is applied and reduced. I am assuming its the motor but could be wrong?
  9. Can anyone help please. What were the dimensions of the square lattice steel signal posts as used by the Great Northern Railway?
  10. Just as a matter of interest has anyone fitted a replacement motor? Looking at pictures of the X9674 they do not seem to have the connecting wires fitted? Does this mean splitting it and soldering on replacements?
  11. Ah well, you win some you loose sum. Still a lovely smooth running model and............. A lot quieter than before. Thanks for having a look at it Charlie.
  12. Following. As my name might imply i live not far from "this layout" back in the day railways in the Basford and Bulwell area were literally everywhere, with some absolutely fabulous examples of the lost art of building in blue bricks. Wish you well in this undertaking.
  13. I appreciate all that Charlie and as far as i am concerned it is very fair and reasonable.
  14. Just had one more look at this before getting it looked at by someone more knowledgeable than me ( not hard). I have tried a cv reset again but despite several attempts at cv8 to 8 my powercab keeps reading 151 and refuses to change to 8. Am i doing something wrong?
  15. Further developments Phil. D211 is now running silky smooth i can only think that the wire sand pipes touching the wheels were the problem. The sound came back on and lasted for about 2 circuits then broke up and stopped, this also affected the running? I was going to bite the bullet, take the top off and investigate the speaker as you suggested but before i did i just gave the body a little squeeze and the sound returned, release the squeeze and it goes again. Would this be the contacts being suspect as you suggested do you think?
  16. Thanks for your interest Phil. Yes mine is the original with brass bushes i didnt know that Bachmann had since gone back to wipers. I have had a reply from them but only with the usual suggestions, clean the track, clean the wheels etc. I am not confident enough to go down the route that you suggest with the model but i am currently having some work done on another model by Richard at Roads and Rails so that might be the way to go?
  17. Phil i have just found this thread whilst waiting for Bachmann to come back to me on the long running saga of the poor running on my self same model. Is the speaker you mention a marked improvement on the factory fitted one in your opinion?
  18. So a bit of dirty track has messed the sound up permanently? This and other minor mishaps seem to be happening to me also with alarming regularity. I currently have out of action a class 40 and a Derby Lightweight dmu. At about £120 a pop this is not very good.
  19. Bit of an update on this. After being put away for about 2 years i thought i would give it another go. Lo and behold after about 2 stuttering circuits it ground to a halt. On close inspection under a magnifying glass i discovered that the tiny wire sanding pipes? were near enough touching the wheels so i bent them out a bit and hey presto smooth running. Great the sound initially went completely but returned intermittently when several different buttons on the powercab were pressed. At a loss now what to do next, any suggestions? I have written to Bachmann in the meantime.
