  1. Picture taken post fibreglass bristle brush. Takes the paint off back to the metal. Perhaps it’s not the rot then.
  2. it’s not mould or a surface covering and it didn’t brush off. The paintwork has come off exposing metal underneath, looks similar to the bogie in the above picture. Such a shame as it’s a cracking model and Bachman spares don’t have a spare body. I’ll photograph it and monitor it to see if spreads. Now to check Manston that’s in a display case in the house… Big thanks to everyone who’s responded.
  3. Don’t think so, it’s been in an insulated shed, min temp is 10C. I’ll see if a soft brush removes any more. No other engines appear affected by this, but I noticed that the C class wasn’t on the list.
  4. I have a Bachman 31-460 Class C 0-6-0 No.592. Went to run it today having been in a display cabinet for several years and saw this under the front footplate. Seems to have spread over the paintwork. Is this the rot?
  5. Are there decals available for DS238? I would imagine a few may want to do the conversion from DS237.
  6. 70 went straight to departmental malachite green when it re-entered traffic. I have seen a photo on flickr of it in some shade of green whilst parked at Rolvenden pre overhaul, perhaps a protective coating. 65,70 and 72 have had their bunkers/cabs altered post preservation. The shade of green for DS237 on the modelrail offers page looks very bright compared to 30064 but as Chris said there are revisions to 30064 to come. Cracking models.
