  1. GWR etches applied, painted and weathered. Also number plates and new dome added. I think the dome is a bit large, but it was the most suitable one I could find for a GWR loco with a curved boiler. I've added the words 'Great Western' to the tank sides. I couldn't find conclusive evidence that this livery was applied, but given the Victories were 'Swindonised' I have assumed it would have been. Now I've seen the photo I may just tone the weathering down a bit.
  2. That’s a very good question Peter and one I agonised with myself. In the end I used liquid, as opposed to gel, superglue. I wouldn’t say I made a perfect job of it, but it’s ok and the frets are holding firm. Make sure you check the fit before gluing and cut the fret out carefully. The thin part above the cab door is particularly delicate. I’d be interested if anyone has an alternative approach but obviously too late for me
  3. Hi - could someone from BRM clarify if the intentio GWR signal box is OO or O please? It's described as OO in the magazine, but I can only see an O gauge one on the Intentio website (a query to Intentio has gone unanswered). Thanks
  4. Ditto. Looking forward to adding . Just need to finish off decorating for SWMBO first
  5. Whatever your views on Brexit, isn't the EU outside 'our territory' :-) ? I'm not sure of the cost impact, but onshore production would have potential for bringing forward delivery dates
  6. To be honest if I had my time over again I wouldn't take the dome off. It wasn't easy and took a lot of cutting and particularly filing. The latter leading to minor damage to the boiler. I think the new dome I have is too tall, but a search revealed nothing better. The dome James suggests is not suitable as it has a flat base. The safety valve I took off with a small razor saw and then flatten ed off with a file
  7. @SteveyDee68 Hope you read this. The brass dome is from Springside Models. Its DA46 Dean goods dome. It’s not cheap as it’s brass and may be a bit large. Wasn’t easy to fit either. The 247 developments pannier dome, mentioned by James, is no good as it has a flat base. I just couldn’t find anything else though
  8. For James at PI Hello, I’ve just been trying to fit the GWR etches to my Victory and they’re both left hand sides. Can I get a RHS etch? My Victory is currently looking a bit of a mess as it goes through the westernisation, but with only one side
  9. Very similar to me, apart from no divorce and I ended up using code 75 track. All my old Mainline, Airfix and Wrenn stock is now history. I'm not sure if I would have gone for DCC anyway given the relative simplicity of my layout, but I do wish the bullhead track had been around in 2016. BTW not that I have lived in Cardiff, but I spent many years working there
  10. Indeed. I've been keeping my eyes on their website for some time
  11. Thanks Mike. That’s what I was planning to do, just wanted the reassurance
  12. Hello all. I apologise if this has already been covered, but with the new large prairie release is there a 7 year gap in coverage (from 1927 to 1934)? If I have read correctly all those numbered in the 31 series were renumbered to 51 series in 1927, but I can't see Dapol listing a 51 number with 'Great Western' livery, these only being with the shirtbutton livery. Thanks
