  1. Where theres a choice i always get the sound fitted option, becasue generally it dosent work out much more expensive than buying the dcc ready model plus a decent decoder.
  2. Was the B4 not being developed as part of a cheap train set with sound as well? Hope so as a small shunter with sound / stay alive would sell quite well i think.
  3. You need to use the F number given in the manual to turn it on. The acc button on your handset is for operating points etc. EDIT : Just looked at mine and theres no specific button. Is yours factory sound fitted? If so Does it come n with F8 coal shovelling? Mine has a Dapol imperium and the firebox comes on as soon as power is applied.
  4. Permenant way deffo have a select. The whiskies set is a v5. The selects were fitted to most Bachmann sound locos at the time
  5. Ive seen the 3 car in stock at rails. I was keen to get one but the big chunky couplers are off putting, plus at the price they are i can get better alternatives at similar prices. For not much more than the price of the 2 car unit i can get a blue / grey class 108 from TMC ( £149 ). And for the 3 car unit i can get a 3 car class 117 from kernow for £200 ( around £30 more than the Hornby )
  6. Shouldnt be any issue tho with a 1Gb Fibre connection and the phone next to the loco. Every other profile i tried works first time and its only the 73 ive had issues with
  7. And STILL the Class 73 profile is a pain in the rear end to install. 4th attempt...... And failed again..... VERY frustrating Finally, on about the 8th attempt it installed correctly. I did see a chap on the Hornby forum who suggested that Hornby has daid there was a glitch with class 73 file. Was there ever an issue found?
  8. They probably dont care as there sold out at MRD
  9. Hi i did drop support an email but i got an email back asking if i was checking on an order. I did reply Hi as it said at ther end of the email. EDIT : Sorted now. Turns out the decoder was locked. So i set CV15 and 16 to 0 and ive been able to reset it and renember it. All good cheers Paul
  10. Just got a pewowned 55015 from my local shop. Runs a treat and sounds great but i cant seem to give it a new number. Tried main track and programme track but the number wont change from its current id of 15. I was going to reset CV8 to 8 in the hope it sets it back to default but im not sure if i read in the class 37 thread that that means it wipes the decoder?
  11. Id be interested to hear how other peoples 88DS run over pointwork. Sams stopped on every point on his layout. Sadly this puts me off buying

    J94 in O gauge

i think the Dapol pannier has it too
  13. As a bit of an update on this. Ive sold off all my 00 stuff and purchased an EFE Class 15, a couple of wagons and a few lengths of flexi. My DCC controller has been retained as have the 21 and plux22 decoders that we re in some of the locos. I have a maximum of 9ft x 38 inches available, but dont really want to put track more than 2ft back so i can reach an easily uncouple stuff. The 9ft must include a short fiddle yard. so im thinking 3ft fiddle and 6ft layoput. Hopefully the 3ft will hold the class 15 and 3 small 4 wheel wagons or the Class 15 and a single CCT or MK1 BG I think a run around will be difficult in the space. I deally i dont want to use more than 3 points. Still really inspired by hillport goods so may go for a similar trackplan. Will probably be using streamline points. Future locos id like are an 08, a J94 and a single car DMU. Id love a Class 26/27 and a class 20 but DCC fitting them looks difficult and expensive.
  14. So as i havent seen anything mentioned online or any youtube videos i could find i thought id give my quick view of the model Ordered from ROS using the black friday code so it cost me £298 posted. Comes in a big box inside of which is the loco box surrounded on all sides by really thick foam / sponge. The loco itself is in a polystyrene tray and its easy to get the loco out. Its a nicely detailled mode and has plenty of wieght to it. The prefiited and working discs on the headcode lights are a nice touch. Quick check on DC to make sure it runs ok and its nice and smooth. DCC Fitting was fairly easy - but not quite as easy as the manual makes out. I removed 4 screws as instructed but the body still didnt want to come off. I had to lay the model on its side and gently lever the chassis out from the bodyshell using a small flat screwdriver. Once the body was off it was just a case of installing the Plux22 decoder. I used a Dapol imperium 8 function as it was one i already had in the draw. Performance on DCC is really good. Crawls on speed step 1 beautifully. Lighting wise all the lights are controlled by a sepaerate F key. On the imperium im using F0 turns on the upper light on both ends. F1 is cab light. F2 is bottom right, F3 bottom middle, F4 bottom left for the No1 end. No 2 end is F5 bottom middle, F6 bottom right. I dont have a key to turn on the bottom left on the No2 end, im assuming its becasue of the lack of functions on the decoder. Will probably be ok with the bachmannn / zimo decoder as i think its 10 function. Overall im really pleased as i wanted a bigger loco for my layout and this fits the bill nicely. A big bonus being the ease of DCC fitting using a standard decoder. I'll probably get a sound chip for it at a later date as according to the instructions it has 2 prefitted speakers.
  15. Hi Looking at getting the class 26 in O. Looking at the specs it will take a loksound 5 XL sound decoder. Is there an equivellent none sound decoder such as the lokpilot? Googleing dosent seem to help. Thanks :)
  16. The 73 also uses Zimo so could well be
  17. No, but one another one i forgot about is the accurascale deltic and thats fine. Fairly sure that has one :)
  18. Hmm i also have the sound cut out issue with the 37 sometimes. I also use a PE2 system. However, i highly doubt the controller is at fault. If it was id have issues with other locos fitted with a Loksound 5. These all run fine and include : Bachmann 47 factory fitted, Class 20 with a plux22 LS5 from roads and rails
  19. its a U1’ 2-8-0+0-8-2T Beyer-Garratt
  20. Maybe an 08 as a development of the 11 / 12
  21. Sometime my class 20s do this. Try dabbing F2, works for me.
  22. They must have in my area as ive had a despatch from Accurascale and a were expecting youre parcel.. from DPD. Much prefer DPD
