  1. Just back from the Show, which was to its usual high standard. Very difficult to pick the Best in Show. Met a lot of friends, shouldn't say old friends as we're all getting older! Refreshments excellent as always. Alastair.
  2. Less than a week away, looking forward to the show as a spectator this year. Alastair.
  3. Glenties back home and mostly put away after a clear run home. Thanks to all the Preston team for a superb exhibition and for looking after us so well, especially to Daniel for quickly learning to run Glenties on Sat am and letting me see the exhibits in the afternoon.
  4. Snowing here in the Peak District, 9am, slacking a bit . Hope we don't get much more and that it thaws quickly. Glenties loaded and ready to go this afternoon
  5. Glenties crated and ready to load. First time at Preston, looking forward to it.
  6. Back home (just round the corner from the venue!) and Burnham packed away. We had an excellent attendance both days, especially Saturday morning. Thanks to all who came and for all the good comments we had. Now to finally sort Glenties for Preston next weekend and then odd jibs on both. Hope to see you all next year!
  7. A good clear, sunny, frosty morning so we should all have another good day. Come and see us, just be careful this morning if there's water on the roads, it may be icy.
  8. A good day, a good show, met lots of people, looking forward to tomorrow.
  9. Most of the exhibits are now set up, so now for a bit of rest . Weather better than forecast and tomorrow's supposed to be better. Look forward to seeing smiling faces.
  10. Tipping rain at the moment, I live round the corner from the Sports Centre, but the forecast is for showers at the weekend, no snow, so it should be safe to come! Burnham is ready to load and everything is falling into place.
  11. Thank you AndrueC. I discovered that the rear of the chassis would move but not the front, but when i loosened the screw at the front which holds the brake gear etc in place it also allowed the chassis to come out, so job done. I hope I can make it a slightly easier fit in its new home!
  12. I can't find how to separate the two. I need the chassis for another project
  13. Programme template at the printers, roadsigns sorted, meals ordered, we're getting there
  14. We're having our 48th Show in Chapel-en-le-frith Leisure Centre, Long Lane, Chapel SK23 0TQ. See our website www.nmdrm.co.uk for lists of participants. Admission is £7, children under 16 free. Light refreshments are on offer, parking is free, and everything is on one level. Open 10am to 5pm on Saturday, finishing 4-30 Sunday. A good, friendly club exhibition.
  15. Thank you all, now I know. Haven't worked out how to model it yet, got a couple of ideas, will let you know how I get on. Luckily on Glenties I can get off with only running it on straight track, I think! Thanks again, Alastair.
  16. Thanks Irish Padre. I tried the Cultra Museum but despite the vehicle being there they didn't know and were reluctant to go downstairs and look, hence this correspondence. I'll try them again after the holiday. Alastair.
  17. Thanks for reply, jhb171achil. Since posting I have found a photo of No 3 in 1957 which shows it on the original chassis. It is on P43 of Irish Railway Photographers, The Swilly and The Wee Donegal by Anthony Burges. I'm now more confused!
  18. More enquiries. I have just received the kit of trailer 3 from Allen Doherty, very nice etches. Does anyone know what the chassis is? Is it still the original D&B tramway one or did Hugh Forbes modify it as it was now a trailer? Help would be appreciated. Alastair.
  19. A dry morning, all set up yesterday, a bit cramped after the Leisure Centre, but looks like being an excellent show. Hope to see you there. Alastair.
  20. The Hazel Grove Model Railway Club exhibition is this weekend at a new venue, Woodford War Memorial Community Centre, Chester Road, Woodford, SK7 1PS. There are 15 Layouts in various scales and gauges. For fuller details consult hgdmrs.org.uk ,including times etc.
  21. A foul morning here , Glenties is ready to load but I'll wait for a break in the rain. Early start tomorrow. Looking forward to the weekend, it was very enjoyable last year with Burnham-on-sea, hoping for a repeat this time. Alastair.
  22. Unfortunately it's a showery day but forecast to dry up later. Hope it doesn't deter too many people from what looked to be an excellent array of layouts last evening. See you there, come and have a chat.
  23. Not long to go now. Track all cleaned and locos checked. Forecast good, should be lots of people about.
  24. Details have just been updated on UK Modelshops Exhibitions.
