  1. 3djson, selling on Etsy and ebay, produces small scale figures, mainly for the WW2 period, however they have just launched their first non military item, a 3d resin printed London Tubular Aluminium bus shelter that were all over the London Transport area in the 50s, 60s and 70s and a small number remain today.
  2. This one has had over 2000 'likes' on a FB page so thought I'd put it here as well, it is of course Duxford in 1989 and low 'beat up' during the filming of Memphis Belle.
  3. I could be wrong but they look like M5 half-tracks, the front mudguards are the giveaway, which would most likely make them British operated, most M5's went to Britain whereas the US had the M3s, so really neither the M16 or M21 are appropriate both being based on the M3. Anthony
  4. Interestingly Rob Johnson (3dJson) is a railway modeller who intended producing railway figures but somehow got sidetracked and hasn't got round to producing any yet, he does have a growing range of interesting military figures though and I understand there may be some 'civilian' figures in the future. It really is a great time for small scale figures with these and Modelu (and a couple of other outlets producing 3d printed figures). Glad they met your requirements, sometimes a repaint or head transplant is all that is needed to produce something different from what was originally intended! Anthony
  5. Only just saw this, presumably you found the Dan Taylor Modelworks and 3dJson ATS figures for repurposing? Several of both are in overalls and only need a head transplant for WW2 railway (or other) workers. Anthony
  6. Paperbrick used to be a great resource (for me anyway), particularly as he had prepared at least three specific sheets for me based on locally available brickwork that I had photographed. Luckily I had saved all of those plus a number of other sheets I thought I could possibly use sometime!
  7. Exactly I said you know more than me, thanks for the clarification.
  8. You possibly know more than me then (and I know nothing), but odd it's scheduled for the day before Hornby and Airfix announcements and then gets pulled at very short notice, I'm sure we will find out the reason in due course, I'll have to watch the football now! There are many reasons why it may have been pulled I was just speculating on one possibility and I can think of several more.
  9. I'm guessing because it shows something (either Hornby or Airfix) that is due to be announced tomorrow?
  10. Well there is now a bus station (sorry interchange) on the car park that exhibitors used so I guess that might have had an impact, shame as it was very local to me, although I also used to go to St Albans.

    Little Muddle

Perfect, a landscape with a railway running through it!
  12. Hi Rich I use a variety of paints for my figures, mainly Vallejo, Lifecolor and Revell Aqua but also including Games Workshop, Tamiya, Army painter and even the new dropper bottle Humbrol, and yes after a while you do end up with a lot of paints! If you can't get them locally then there are usually sets available online, even from Amazon. Anthony

    Little Muddle

How about this one Kevin? Scroll down to WDMT12 a pair of Clyno motorcycles? http://www.wdmodels.com/page5.html Anthony
  14. Scenic boards now in, at the correct height. Storage yards also built and installed at both ends.
  15. Main Scenic boards cut by B&Q and test fitted, again they have to be raised but that should be this weekend. Have also joined my local model railway club as I will inevitably need some help with the electrics!
  16. Scenic section baseboard frame started, legs shown are not fixed and are for fiddle yard boards but show the approximate rail height, needed the lower level as the River Ash is somewhat lower than the track level.
  17. Thanks Rob you never know I might even have some room for a few sheep on the 'cattle' dock! Eventually!
  18. So into 2022 and the hobby room is decorated, the heating is installed (and on) and the new side door is in place. As the room is also to be used as a general hobby room by me it also has to accommodate a plethora of other things for my other interests (including some smaller dioramas) and so some storage has also been included within the room. Until the room was completed and the storage in place I didnt know exactly what area I had available for the railway, so with everything in place I have an area of a little over 8ft x 2.5ft for the scenic section of 'Widford' plus some small 'storage yards' at either end to enable a variety of trains to run. The length of the area looking to be modelled is around 300m (from Bridge 2055 to somewhere beyond the end of the sidings), which in full 1/76 scale would be a little under 13ft in total so some selective compression will be required, however I should be able to retain the essence of the area and it should still look much like Widford did when in use. The layout will be looking to the south, with the River Ash in the foreground and the Ware to Bishop's Stortford road to the rear. Pencil to paper to produce a workable layout now!
  19. I think that's a yes from Marcus and me then!
  20. Nice to see Tetbury on the TV tonight and a bit of the background to the layout (which is now leading me to reading the whole topic!) and noticed that your garage still had the up and over door and wasn't insulated, so do you have any problems with damp etc? Anthony
  21. Well I guess there would be at least two sales of all those then! We did take a look at the storage shed (next to the signal box) and while it appears to be around the same size, dimension wise, as Intentio's 'standard' Enginemans Hut (albeit with the door on the end and a bigger window), it seems to have been made of some sort of precast block rather than bricks (they are somewhat deeper than a standard brick). Anthony
  22. And the little Porters Hut would make an ideal small building for any layout Anthony
  23. As I said not much to report for a while, painting the room is coming on though! Although had my Covid booster today so who knows for the next few days? Still awaiting a new door, it was due to be delivered today but apparently they are still awaiting the glass for it!
  24. Philip It is indeed it looks around half the size of Cressing (same depth but around half the length) and with some 'fancy' brickwork on top of the walls, lots of pictures on The Bunt site! An even dinkier station then! Anthony
  25. Hi Paul Yes I have a copy and very interesting it is too, I know about Hunsdon as well, my father was a schoolboy (and started work at 14) during WW2 and he lived in Stanstead Abbotts, many Mondays he had to trek up to the airfield to retrieve his bike that had been 'borrowed' by a Hunsdon airman returning to base having got off the train at St Margarets. And still nobody really knows the purpose of the Amiens Prison raid, the book on that is good too, another connection is my father later worked for Thurgood in Ware (before doing nearly 40 years for de H/HSA/BAe at Hatfield) and being coachbuilders they built many wooden parts for de H, including for the Mosquito. I have also sat in the prototype (at Salisbury Hall) and in the sadly missed BAe operated example, both many many years ago now! What an aeroplane hopefully there will be one back in UK skies soon. Anthony
