That's a very similar plan to my small layout, Lowry Lane. Mine is 4 feet by 18 inches with built in Inglenook puzzle and kick back siding for a factory/mill facility, peco code 100 track with medium radius points and a three way. I haven't added any cassettes or fiddle yard(s) [yet] but plenty of time can be spent shunting as it is. Have fun with your build

With regards to "Currently deciding which to attempt first out of signal installation, rail painting or ballasting. ". My layout is at the "track laid and electrics installed" stage, whilst I am doing lots of running to iron out any track or electrical problems I have been painting the rails. I figured if I had to lift anything to fix a problem then it wouldn't be a job wasted. I don't have any signals planned at the moment, but if I did then I would install those before ballasting.

I have a similar track plan and highish density of buildings in a small space 48" x 18" , a bit larger than your new layout. The sidings and head shunts comply with an "Inglenook". I do not yet have any fiddle yard but can shunt quite happily without.

I agree with the alignment comment. Slackening the screws holding the point motor to the baseboard slightly so the seep has a bit of play in it may help.

The 64' stock is all I could find on Anyrail User Objects, it would be better to use 57' passenger stock, Railcars and Autocoaches (of course the OP doesn't tell us the period). The amount of stock shown on the plan is simply to help visualise the space. A single siding could be brought off the loop entrance for some additional storage, an engine shed could be a kick back off that siding as seen at Shipston on Stour - https://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrss3104.htm Maybe something like this .... (not sure what has happened to the geometry, maybe something is not quite straight) ( I really ought to get on with some work! )

If you swapped the points at the entrance to the station you may just be able to run round two MK 1 coaches. Shifting the plan so the first point is closer to the edge you get more space for the station building

Something like this may work, it might be a bit cramped. Board is 54" x 12 ", some fiddling around may be required to get clearances correct Medium, code 100 Peco streamline points. Station building, Signal box and Goods Shed are Metcalfe. Engine Shed is Dapol. Water crane is Hornby Mk1 coach in the bay platform Jinty at the 'depot' Pannier running round a guards van

Just wanted to round this topic off with an update. The power supply I am using is an HP one from an old laptop so my guess is that it is suitably regulated. The power supply is working and I see no side effects on the DR4018. Setting up a small route in JMRI to switch crossovers works well with the default delay of 250ms between triggering outputs. Thanks again for the help.

Thank you for that. I have been using ADS-8fx but I broke one of the outputs when I was dabbling with frog polarity and suffered a short. I know the DR4018 does not have any frog polarity facility. I have been doing the polarity from the switch on the seep motors or using Gaugemaster DCC80s. I did have pairs of points for crossings being controlled from a single ADS-8fx output but realise I cannot do that with the DR4018. I am controlling everything from JMRI via DCC++ and was going to insert a short wait between the crossing point changes.

I have just purchased a DR4018 to drive 8x PECO and Seep solenoid point motors. I understand that, for best performance, I should use a power supply external to the DCC bus and that the range documented in the manual is 12-18V DC or 12-18V AC, 3 amp max draw. I have an old power supply lurking around which is 18.5V 3.5A DC output. Could this be used safely with the DR4018 or is the extra 0.5V going to break it?

Hi, I am unable to access the jmri.org site. It tells me the following .... This site can’t be reached jmri.org took too long to respond. I have tried this from 3 different devices on two different networks (home and work) ... it worked from both previously (maybe 6 months ago) Is anyone else seeing this issue? Thanks
