  1. Not just through Richmond but through the station yard and along the line as far as the treatment works!
  2. With the correct blend of resin, a hidden benefit in a 3d print. Folk may not realise "resin" is akin to "metal" it comes in many formulae for different purposes and can be blended to create "alloys" with properties for the job in hand. Click on the video for a demonstration.
  3. I 3d print my own RhB style with spans up to 220mm. These are drafts, unpainted and support pips still left on. Click on the photo for the rest of the album.
  4. Fair point and true if you want one model - but if you want 6 or a rake of 10 or the base model with a number of minor variations - the time investment in creating the CAD may well be worthwhile. 3D printing is just another evolution of modeling technique. There is no easy way to "stitch" them together but they would give you all the detail to produce a CAD drawing with something like Tinkercad, Fusion 360 or any other CAD package you fell comfortable with. This tutorial by oorail may help you -
  5. Not sure if that is a typo but to perform a factory reset, CV8 needs to be set to 8 not 3.

    EBay madness

My favourite has still not been sold! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373223850182?hash=item56e5e000c6:g:yHwAAOSwgwlfZ3S3
  7. Just one caution - do not mix DCC fitted locos on a DC layout with a Relco or similar high frequency track cleaner fitted - that will fry the decoder.
  8. Yes - you are correct - one bulb with a vertical light bar attached to the roof and a "U" shaped bar that illuminates (or not!) both the lower lights.
  9. Information and details of planned events to mark this event in this link - https://www.info24news.net/175jahreschweizerbahnen/?fbclid=IwAR0v0oLRk10wdyDZhyqcYZ5k1y8LM8frTQtMOlXt6BNoT_9U8vi9QUXxSEM
  10. It uses the 2.4Ghz band which will be swamped other networks Have a read here - Changing channel is in this link - but if the frequency is swamped, good chance all channels will be the same, switching channel would only help if it was something specific causing the issue, maybe a nearby more powerful router on the same channel. https://www.digitrax.com/tsd/KB1053/lnwi-advanced-options/

  12. The very first plan was to have a railway bridge where the Mercury bridge currently stands and the line would have run up hill turning to the rights and the station roughly along the line of Ryders Wynd. Gradients killed that off PDQ and left the station in it's current location with the road bridge access. There is a further map showing the planned extension of the line from the sidings to the south of the main building through Billy Bank Woods and Round Howe as far as Reeth to the lead mine. Gather that the mine was worked out before this got beyond the survey stage. The Museum holds the original map /plan and section from 1844 and can be viewed by appointment ( accession number 5217) if that helps.
  13. Super selection there! Be wary of superglue, I have found it can leave a white "bloom" round the edge which can detract, I have found Deluxe Materials Glue N Glaze does a very good job with less risk.
  14. Try this - http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/mainnorth/Beetle.htm
  15. Either would do the job if you select the appropriate material to go with it. With a FDM printer, ePLA is excellent as it give real strength, it can be annealed after printing and is straightforward to print with. ABS is an alternative but it is very difficult to tune a printer in to work with that successfully and you need to factor in an enclosure to keep the temperature up. ABS likes it hot while printing. With a resin printer, it is again about selecting the type of resin to give the properties you want for the job. Some are close to ABS in strength, other incorporate flexibility. Have a look at the Siraya Tech website as it give an idea of different resins and their properties. personally I blend them to achieve the properties I want for a job. The one thing I have found with a resin printer is that you need an additional step to get dimensional accuracy sorted. FDM's pretty well print to the dimensions you give them, resin printers often need some adjustment in the software to correct XYZ discrepancies. Attached is a servo bracket I use extensively printed with my FDM if this is the sort of thing you had in mind. I use an Ultimaker FDM printer and an Anycubic Mono X for resin. In my experience, FDM is a much simpler and less demanding process than resin which has the complexity of some pretty noxious chemicals to handle and manage but will not achieve the level of detail or surface finish of a resin printer/ Copy of Servo bracket.stl
  16. My approach - in N - has been a single print for the shell with 2 horizonal cross members, about where the doors are on your cad, to prevent bowing, with the lower face being at the height to match the top of a plate carrying the underframe detail and bogie mounts. Plate is drilled and screw fixed to the cross members. Interior detail can be split to accommodate the cross members.
  17. I think this might be the last addition to this thread, finished the HOm infrastructure Schoma today - this is the grand unveiling
  18. Most (not quite all) Bemo's range is available as HOm and HOe for those who wanted to use the 9mm gauge track. They are provided with splined axles and simply regauged from 12 down to 9mm if required. The exceptions are mainly the metal collection steam loco's. They have recently introduced some RhB in HO (16.5mm) to appeal to those who want to run them on a standard gauge layout. Like Kato, Bemo have obviously done some market research and concluded there is a market for these non scale / gauge combinations.
  19. Many flavours of software for a laptop but you will still need a DCC device, command centre, to convert the output from the laptop to a form the decoders on the layout can read. Again many such devices but a simple start is to select one with a USB port. Biggest challenge may be how much time and effort you are willing to put into customising the software for your set up.
  20. Looks like an interesting starting point - nice to have a project like that to be working on. Is it Peco track you will be using? If so, maybe a bit more of a sweeping "s" curve on the back section may enhance the visuals.
  21. Rule 1 - it's your layout, you run what you want.... Simples.
  22. Cannot help with the data sheets as they are not in the Bemo archive but would strongly suspect the snowplough is the same as on the Ge 4/4 11 as it was the same lineage and actually used by RhB for some time. Getting spares can be a bit tricky, with Winco, Peter has retired but still trades to order and clearing stock I understand. In the past however, I found that he would only supply spare parts for loco's he had sold. May be different now - worth asking. I have used Mike Marno ( http://www.marnoltd.co.uk/index.html ) fill in and e-mail the contact form with the details - part number and description - of what you want. He will come back with a price and availability and if acceptable will add them to his next order, seems to be monthly and let you know when they arrive. Make payment (bank transfer) and he posts them out to you. Works for me - but bit stuck until you have the part number......

    EBay madness

To the classic rally fraternity, the V5 is probably worth about £3k as it could be used to register and get MSA/FIA historic papers for a new build / rebuild with a lot less admin and certification effort.

Even by Gostude standards, I think this is quite special - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373223850182?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D7bcdf50780b9440b9bb258681a9908e5%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D133958067528%26itm%3D373223850182%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DHornby&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A00aca8b8-699d-11ec-b6be-622005a2fc64|parentrq%3A0c9155a317e0a646c7389093fff99ef0|iid%3A1
  25. Think this is about as far as it's going. Reworked the wheels and wheelbase, side intrusion bars, added mirrors. Runs really nicely, may have over specified the stay alive, lights keep going for a good 3 or 4 minutes! If I built another - it would be better....... but a nice bit of fun to have running round the layout.
