  1. I did a conversion of Hornby's 31 111 to a Stratford skinhead. From my recollection, all I changed (apart from renumbering) was the transfers for the coupling symbols (blue star to red spot) and the head code discs, which were a bit clunky on the original. I would be interested in any feedback if I missed something in the conversion.
  2. Unfortunately, Dingo Servo Mounts are no longer able to attend Railex 2024. We will publish an up to date schedule of layouts and traders, as well as a floor plan in due course.
  3. We can announce that Intentio (Precision Scale Multi Media Kits) have now been added to the host of traders attending Railex. Further details can be found on the Intentio website: Intentio Precision Scale Multi Media Kits This brings the total number of traders attending Railex to 28!
  4. Following the signing of the agreement to build our new Clubhouse at Quainton (Buckinghamshire Railway Centre), we have now submitted our application for Planning to Buckinghamshire Council.
  5. On Sunday 3rd March 2024, the Quainton Railway Society signed an agreement for a new Clubhouse to be built at Quainton for the Risborough & District Model Railway Club. The proposed building will be built adjacent to the Museum at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre and will enhance the railway related attractions offered to visitors as well act as a permanent home for the Model Railway Club. The agreement was signed in the same carriage used by Winston Churchill to entertain President Eisenhower during the Second World War. Barry Payne, Chairman of Quainton Railway Society said. "We are looking forward to working in partnership with the Risborough & District Model Railway Club and excited with the new aspect that they bring to the site." Club Chairman, Paul Wright, said, "This is a significant moment in the Club’s 50 years’ history. It’s always been our ambition to have permanent Club premises, and this is the perfect site. We are also looking forward to working with our friends at Bucks Railway Centre on a range of collaborative activities." The Club will now progress the development by submitting a Planning Application to Buckinghamshire County Council.
  6. Bucoops, many thanks. David is in the process of dispatching my purchase.
  7. Does anybody know whether David Eveleigh is still producing the 4mm scale 6-wheel GER coaches? I have tried to get in contact with him via email and personal message on RMWeb, but to no avail.

  11. I would like to send out a personal thanks to all of our traders, societies, layout owners and Club members for putting on an enjoyable and successful exhibition. Special thanks needs to go to the catering team (both Club members and their partners), who kept us supplied with light refreshments, beverages and our celebrated cakes throughout the day. The exhibition was financially successful for the Risborough & District Model Railway Club, the proceeds of which will help us fund our new Clubhouse and will ensure that we are able put on exhibitions of this quality in the future. Finally, a very special thanks to all of our visitors who attended on the day. We hope you had a very enjoyable day.

  14. There have been a number of comments on this post regarding the proposed venue for this year's Railex. While the Bowl's Hall is not the Club's preferred first choice, in area, it is only slightly smaller than the Sports Hall. The issues last year caused by the hot weather have been taken on board and we are working with the Stadium to ensure that there is adequate ventilation in the event of hot weather. This is in addition to advising traders and layout owners regarding appropriate clothing and providing additional standalone electric fans to make the event more comfortable. And to be absolutely clear - there are no alternative affordable venues available. For next year we are hoping to be back in the Sports Hall if a cost-effective solution can be found to protecting the recently refurbished flooring. Whilst we welcome comments on this thread to improve the show, we sincerely request that this is not tempered with unfounded scaremongering about what may or may not happen. The confirmed layouts and traders for 2024 speak for themselves http://www.railex.org.uk. And, whilst we already have plenty of trader and layout owner confirmations for 2025, we are also aware of the need for continued support for this event from traders, layout owners and attendees alike. Without this support, Railex like Warley will no longer be a feature in the model railway calendar. Successive RMWeb surveys show that Railex is considered one of the best independent model railway shows in the country. Unlike other large shows, we do not have big trade names to support our event, for which the operating margins are narrow, and the effort put in by Club members is considerable. As far as this year is concerned, there will be a stellar line up of traders and quality layouts that you have come to expect from this event. We look forward to seeing you there.
