  1. My feeling is that the broader a scale is the better it is for everyone.
  2. Here's some common wheel sizes, TT120 equivalent, and 3mm SQ wheel close fit where it exists. Prototype TT120 3MM# 4'0" 10.16mm 4'6" 11.43mm 4'8" 11.85mm 12mm 5'0" 12.7mm 5'3" 13.35mm 13.5mm 5'6" 13.97mm 14mm 5'8" 14.39mm 14mm 6'0" 15.24mm 15mm; 15mm BFB 6'3" 15.87mm 15.75mm 6'6" 16.51mm 16.5mm 6'8" 16.93mm 17.0mm
  3. Also, Dean Goods and 2251 have same wheelbase but larger wheels. I don't see chasses per se as a problem. A modern fold up etched chassis is easy to assemble and not too hard to draw; I've been producing my own for the last 10 years in 3mm. The big problem is wheels. What TT needs is a range of useful wheels similar to that in 3mm. That alone would expand TT to be a modeller's scale. Motors and gears are also needed. The small coreless motors now available eg from Tramfabriek are very useful, as in my 3mm Cambrian Sharps Gearboxes may be more of a problem; the High Leveel one shown here is no longer available.
  4. Glued the 2 Lite bits together to get an overall impression. 285cm by 175cm. 9'3" by 5'9". Not trivial, but not bad considering what can be got in.
  5. Does Anyrail allow you to import one plan into another?/
  6. Station building? https://www.n-scenic.co.uk/products/n-gauge-canopy-station-3-versions
  7. Majorbrough - Plan A lite Reduced to save space. Station cut to 4 coaches by removing a standard straight from each road. You could remove a further half straight if you're ok with the 4th coach of incoming trains hanging off platform ends. Re throat Replaced straights on right by half straights; could drop altogether, but don't want points under the tunnel I envisage here. Stretched pilot road to fit signal box in. Suggested loop for 2nd pilot. Simplicity v utility; your choice. Boards are 90cm, 107cm; total 197cm, saving 25cm over original. With FY lite gives an L shaped layout 284cm by 171cm.
  8. Think I'd wait until everything else was done then see what I felt about the FY.
  9. How about Needs more height, less width, 93cm x 166cm. Depends on space constraints.
  10. Wondered. But reckon need to minimise construction load. So lay track [easy] and basic electrics to make FY usable then switch to layout proper. At some point think about FY point motors. Scenery maybe nnot worth it.
  11. #3 except for the point and the balancing #6.
  12. Fiddle yard - Option 3 lite Simply the previous version cut down to minumum size, thus saving construction time, money and space. Less is more! I've assumed 4 (MK1) coach trains max. Size is 171 cm by 87 cm.
  13. Neat. Would you use Hornby uncouplers or something else?
  14. Yep! I'd mandate 3 circuits beffore any shunting takes place.
  15. Fiddle yard - Option 3 C Continuous runs are very useful, for testing, running in or just watching trains go by; pity they take a lot of space, as here. They do however offer space for sidings, although the 5-coach ones shown were a bit of a squeeze. It is 93 cm by 195 cm, and could yield an L shaped layout 315 cm by 195 cm.
  16. Snaps of Night Hawk and mk1 composite.
  17. Wondering if there are European TT kits suitable for station building and canopy.
  18. Don't want to make things too easy 😉 Was thinking of a signal box in the station throat.
  19. Plan B alternative 1 Includes suggestions: shorten platform, extend buildimg link carriage, loco sidings
  20. 2 mk1 maroon composites arrived, just a brief look but the finish is superb. Night Hawk waiting to be opened;' planning for Wednesday.
  21. Thought about that. Reckon bottom right is open to several possibilities. Let's say it didn't worry me.
