  1. Just found a picture of part of the detail pack including wipers, my question has been answered.
  2. I have been slowly attempting to fit the details to my recently acquired class 47. It came with an unopened detail pack, some parts are just too fiddly for me, but I am unable to identify the windscreen wipers. The only bits that remotely look right are a metal sprue containing about 10 fine metal strips that are just flat without any locating pips or any other details. Does anyone know if these are indeed the wipers? Thanks
  3. Thanks for excellent photos, very clear, Since my attention to the motor and worm, it’s been quieter, so will leave it for now.
  4. Thanks for your input, I gave up before damaging it. I took the worm covers off and put a small amount of grease on the worms each end. I also put a tiny amount of oil on the motor bearings, it runs nicely now. I will now leave it alone! Am away for a couple of days, next up is the detailing pack. Should only take a month or two! The “clicking” was more like a soft sound similar to a playing card on the spokes of a bike wheel, but very much quieter,,so “clicking” was the wrong word I used.
  5. Well, I tried! I can undo one side of one end, the other side won’t budge, and the other end is still firmly attached. I will try the side clips next time I’m feeling brave. If that’s successful I will try the worm cover.
  6. Thank you very much, is that a 37? The noise I have is a very slight clicking noise, I’ll try it in a couple of weeks, want to be sure so I don’t spoil the warranty. Very kind of you to take pictures for me.
  7. Just had a look, think I can see what you’re talking about, so you don’t try to move the side clips? Thanks again
  8. Thanks, think you’re right, never had a VI trains loco before, but all the others keep going without too much of my involvement.!
  9. Thanks for your reply, don’t know if I should leave well alone then. I cannot see where a screwdriver could go in. A couple of posts have suggested it’s a sealed gearbox, not sure if I’m overthinking it as I have two or three similar locos ,one a Heljan that is at least as old and hasn’t been touched.
  10. Can anyone advise on how to unclip the keeper plates on these locos please, I can see where the clips are,but cannot see anyway of unclipping them. There doesn’t appear to be any gap to insert a screwdriver etc. I obtained one of these recently, it runs extremely smoothly, and appears to not to have been used, so am concerned whatever lubricant was used may have dried up in the intervening years. Appreciate any help, especially pictures.
  11. Thanks but it looks a lot different, I have managed to get a complete spare chassis from flea bay, hoping the pick ups are all ok.
  12. I have a Patriot (Holyhead) manufactured 2000/2001. One of the pick up fingers? has broken, I have managed to solder it back on,but really would like a replacement pick up collector assembly for the locomotive (x8910) . This doesn't show up on any search. This loco is a bit of an odd ball, and I suspect the part is just not available anymore. Anyone know of a similar loco set up with this type of pick up, under a different part number ? Thanks
  13. Thanks, very informative, I really want a less intrusive way . However I appreciate your time.
  14. Hello Just got a new Hornby Terrier, don't really want the Hornby decoder, anyone found an alternative that will definitely fit? The pins are short compared to other direct fit decoders Thanks
  15. Thanks, just what I was looking for and couldn’t find !!
  16. Realise this has been covered previously, but I would like to fit drivers to each end. I have tried going through the opening behind the seats, but can’t get them seated! I think the two screws holding the light bar should be undone and then the whole assembly comes out including the cabs, by stretching the body sides. Would appreciate a step by step guide,(pictures would be even better),as I don’t want to damage the light bar etc. Thanks
  17. Depends on what app version, new one, go to vehicles, choose functions,on right side at bottom there’s a delete button. Old version, choose railed vehicles, choose loco, choose function, turn dial until no function is showing
  18. How easy is it to replace the buffers? One of mine launched itself skyward when I was fitting the details, originally only found the buffer, dab of superglue to refit it, then immediately found spring and the tiniest retaining collar I’ve ever seen. Do you put buffer and spring in first and the attach collar from the rear? If so, might have to leave it glued, I can barely see the collar let alone fit it
  19. Did you get a decal sheet with your blue/grey one?
  20. I hardly send anything back, always worried that the replacement will be worse. I had a Heljan loco that had a displaced drive shaft, that had been caused by the motor shifting slightly to the opposite end. Must admit, this has put me off Dapol for locos, but all the manufacturers have their lemons,I seem to get more than my fair share. With this particular one, think we could stock a supermarket.
  21. How long have you had yours? I think mine has quietened down after extensive running ,or my hearing has decided to ignore it. Normally I would put a tiny amount of oil on the motor bearing, but Dapol have warned that this would destroy the motor ??? With the decoder fitted, it is now quite enjoyable, an awful lot of people seem to fit sound to this, wonder if some of them can’t stand the noise!
  22. Decoder arrived today, fitted, had brief panic, lights worked, but didn’t run. As per a previous post, decoder wasn’t pushed fully home, now running fine and everything works. Decoder seems to have helped with “hang over” symptom and runs as fast as I want it to. Now genuinely pleased with bargain DMU.
