  1. As previously mentioned, the new image is not First distancing themselves but a future cost saving by the DfT for a single, permanent image for each franchise with only the "operated by" lettering being changed in the future. 're Buses of Somerset, I understand that the local manager had a lot to do with it, wanting a local image for local pride. It was mentioned that the rest of what was First Devon, Cornwall and Mid Somerset was also to get local images but events have moved on with Devon being sold so here in Cornwall, we are being stuck with the Olympia "marmite" as the standard. Somerset is a good image and works well. Even on a 150....... . Back when I was writing reports for suggestions for the Night Riviera refurbishment before the DfT got involved, I proposed the same idea for our train along with a few units and a station scheme similar to the Looe branch but hey, I'm only a minion.... !
  2. It's a shame whatever. We get few railtours down here now as it is. Despite the excellent relationship when Nunney and Braunton were stabelled at Long Rock, timetable and turning constraints make life difficult for organising tours. PZ turntable asked for as part of revamp of depot.... . Changing direction slightly, our buses will have changed by the time the HSTs go too. First Devon & Cornwall is now First South West and Camborne based and the new disabled access regs mean it's goodbye to some single deck celebrity liveries by the end of the year and most double decks will be replaced too by 2018. With the proposed devolution they may be franchised bringing more changes. It's all change !
  3. As an engineering FGW employee also involved in the Night Riviera refurbishment, we were told around 2 years ago what and who was involved in the new scheme and if you see under my old account, notes have been posted on here during that whole time. There have been changes along the way and expect a few more. Personally, it's a lost opportunity, dull and uninspiring on most stock and expect problems with the silver...... !
  4. It's been well documented that the band will be covered by vinals and it's the DfT that has specified the scheme. Only lettering will change in future should operator change as per Scotrail. Interiors take much longer to change !
  5. As already pointed out by some, you won't see the train for the trees !Some GWRs on SLEP 10594 and publicity starting to be rolled out this week.
  6. Only seen one here in my part of Cornwall too. Very poor.
  7. Then there was sodum hall and of course f...... but I don't think they have appeared on an exhibition layout somehow.
  8. Beat me to posting ! Was supposed to go Sunday but no driver. Apparently, both 43s went for a smoke ! That stop sign is just depot protection as found on all our roads. 410 has gone to have its refurbishment finished properly......!
  9. Nice. Saw my 1st second brood one today. What happened to the "Painted Lady year" that was promised or are we just not having it down here ?!
  10. How many shots has that down home appeared in I wonder ??
  11. Despite being the roadside of the line most of the time, its always difficult to get a decent shot of anything from within Long Rock because of the lighting angles. Now the public view from the path seaside is a different story ! Keep them coming though because of the historical value.
  12. Hi Jock. As yet, I know nobody on here personally. I only started the new thread for the benefit of everyone else so it's up to you all !! Guessing some will be on holiday, like myself currently, and I guess it will be a while before it reaches the quality content we are used too... . One or two May also be suspicious of loosening their photos again but I really hope that as our rail scene will have completely changed by Dec 2018, people record and post for the benefit of all. The first green HST coaching stock is already at Plymouth...... ! Just realised, I only know 2 people by sight on Flickr too ! It's lonely down here
  13. First artist's impression of refurbished Night Riviera day coach interior can be seen on Flikr if you search GWR Seating and date uploaded. Can't link it.... As I feared, less tables and not reclining. Due November.
  14. Vehicles are longer and a 9 car set is too long for our sidings..... ! Built in Japan. The benefit is that they are bi modal so electric power out of London. It's 57s until at least 2020 for the Night Riviera. Going back to tent now !
  15. I have to agree. The interiors of the 300s are being designed by the same company that did the voyagers. I believe there is an artist's impression of the seat design already on Fliker and I'm not happy! I understand that TOCs get away with poor interiors because nobody actually complains in writing....! There was a recent article in a railway magazine from a designer stating so......!
  16. Deal signed off today for AT300s so bye bye HSTs from Dec 2018.
  17. Some second hand news as I'm oh hols, new liveried 57605 is currently on depot and up Sunday night...... .604 had an electrical fire and DRS 303 lost its ETH again so both were HST replacements during the week. As mentioned before, it alwAys happens when im off, 2 weeks left !
  18. I know at current the HST fleet is supposedly staying dynamic lines but nobody has mention the sets and power cars owned by First rather than leased. Will one become green and as was mentioned a long while back, one become original blue/grey....... ? No response from people I know within.
  19. Must say I was not expecting all the thanks for just basically posting a follow-on thread which I'm sure somebody else would have done at some point but I am humbled. Thank you all. I'm sure that everyone will continue to post as was, a little wiser perhaps too and a Kernow not today thread is fine by me - its your forum ! News from Fliker - as I'm on hols, is that 57605 is out from Derby so should be down imminently.
  20. Can I remind some that Branding is being applied for the launch of the new franchise in September. Personally, I think it won't make much difference to the "battleship" green and yet again, an opportunity for GW has been missed. Regarding the yellow end, I think the new standard lighting makes it redundant on the mainline and I too see the light before the rest, however, in depot, some drivers don't light up correctly and a need still exists.
