  1. Hi Andy I did see them at RailEx but was wondering if there were more than a handful about. It would be nice to see more modern layouts in 2mm. I mainly model 4mm Eastern region but i am very tempted to have a go in 2mm.
  2. After attending RailEx on Sunday it was nice to see so many 2mm layouts in one place, but out of curiosity are there many British Modern image era layouts about, i.e. BR blue to present day. My preference is sectorisation but searches produce very limited results.
  3. Very pleasing moment the first train has completed a full circuit of the down line. Everything runs smooth and curves look good and run well. As soon as my outstanding point work is delivered I can finally run the whole layout. More updates to follow
  4. First loco to run on part of Hebden. So far so good. Lots more wiring to do.
  5. Could anyone advise: Would the curves be banked/ superelevated? I know i can achieve this with thin plasticard under one side of the track but is this prototypical for my type of plan and though the station?
  6. Hi Phil Yes i did notice that. When i laid the track out it worked out like this. It runs ok. There will be fettling to do once all the track is laid but the eye is in the detail. What i usually do once i have laid everything i test each section and check the curves etc. There are a few niggles which i need to sort out. Mind you a picture isn't very forgiving sometimes.
  7. Track laying continues. More track has been laid since these photographs were taken. Platform templates are ready for when I make a start on them. Droppers are done ready for wiring to start hopefully this coming weekend. Last night the inner loop become a continuous circuit. So things are progressing well. More images to follow
  8. Maybe so but took me long enough to find and like this name for the layout Any thoughts on the name would be greatly appreciated
  9. Thank you for your feedback. As i said in a previous post the layout is not linked to the real Hebden Bridge. I liked the name and wanted to use the name for my layout. I will use the theme to a point but this is a Fictional Layout
  10. Some of building lined up ready for the platforms etc. I know the main station building might not be in keeping with the layout but I have a soft spot for it. It needs weathering next.
  11. For Backscene would the below be suitable?
  12. Thanks Dai. I will pick your brains when ready. The row of shops/ houses won't be used. I think a retaining wall and maybe a image of a row of stone houses might look better. To put low relief shops etc in that area would look a bit silly as space would be tight.
  13. With the backscene i was going to use just a overcast cloud but with your comments might go for a hilly option to give it that optical view of being hilly. I also note MIkes comments about highs and lows and think i will ,do some more research into the landscape
  14. Thank you for the help. Although the layout is called Hebden it is fictitious and not based on the real place, although i will stick with the stone building theme with the odd brick building. I think maybe just a long retaining wall with some growth on top might look better as this leads onto a long embankment.
  15. Opinions required. I will be building a retaining wall against the back scene? On top do i put a row of shops or leave this area as just the retaining wall. The image gives a rough idea of position minus the retaining wall. I'm thinking without but open to suggestions What are your suggestions/ thoughts?
  16. Track laying is progressing well and now moving onto lay the fiddle yard tracks. Once all the track is laid I can then fettle any bits which might not look of flow how I want it too More images to follow.
  17. I have always enjoyed following your modelling Tony, and i am still hoping one day my modelling is as good as yours. Your eye for detail is superb and always enjoy a chat when i see you. I have never met Jesse but I enjoy following your modelling and have to say it is also superb, i am really enjoying seeing your layout develop. The biggest difference is you talk and share ideas with other modellers. Encouraging new and younger modellers is a big ethos of mine if the hobby is to have a future. If it wasn't for a few older members telling me to push by skills i would never have got to where i am now. I mean look where my modelling took me in the world of work!
  18. I like Exchange and kirkgate. Which to go for?
  19. Maybe a change to just Hebden is in order
  20. Really impressed with overall finish if the boards. Track laying can now start.
  21. You are correct Tim horn boards are superb. 14ftx 9ft overall
  22. Boards are now built ready to be connected together later this evening.
  23. Finally after much planning and help from members on this forum construction has started on the layout. Until 3 years ago i had always modelled British Railways Western region. After a change in gauge and following the work of Tony Wright and many other modellers, this inspired me to delve into the Eastern/ North eastern region of British Railways. The era i am modelling is 1950s until 1965. (Occasionally rule 1 will apply). Harlequin (Phil) gave me a huge amount of help with the track plan. Below you can see the final result. Hebden General is completely fictional. The real Hebden is in West Yorkshire. I wanted something with a northern feel and i really liked the name so here it all begins. Using Tim Horn baseboards has been the best decision i've made. They are excellent quality and worth every penny. Highly recommended and his service is top notch. Updates will follow during the construction. Any questions please feel free to ask
