I am a guy who was brought with railways from an early age my Grandfather was a guard on the Midland Route through the Peak and was based at Manchester Exchange. I myself have worked in the rail industry in the past and got hooked on 7MM modelling about 4 years ago when I made a rash decision to buy a DJH 9F I have not looked back I am fully hooked and I love it warts and all.

  1. Please be advisd of the latest build review for the Signature Kits ICI Hopper Wagon as detailed below:- Signature Kits PHV Hopper (modernimageogauge.co.uk) This has been undertaken by a member of the MIOG Group. It provides a very detailed overview of the build so people can see the work involved in the construction of this kit. Kind regards Iain
  2. I wish Simon a speedy recovery and I hope in the coming months to receive my order when he is able to respond etc.
  3. Can anyone please assist I am looking to design and build an O Gauge layout in a extension to my house. Its in an Orangery measuring 15'6'' x 13' I already have the boards in place around the room based on 11mm ply tops and on 3' x 1" timber frame with shelving underneath for storage. The main control panel will be in the middle of the room with a control panel to cover all operational aspects including power, points and signalling in the future. At this stage I am purely looking for a reasonable design to incorporate the following key themes and aspects:- BR period 1950- 68 preferable MIdland Region An engine shed and locomotive servicing depot with T/T (I have a 70ft turntable to install) A shunting and marshalling yard and smallish good depot for all types of freight traffic The scope for including appropriate back scenes and detailing of the layout operation The ability to have a continuous track tun with say 5'6 radius curves to enable medium freight and passenger trains to operate on a potential single track section if it can be incorporated. I am also open to building upwards to an elevated section in the longer term. I appreciate that this seem's a lot to include in a constrained space and there will in inevitably be compromises along the way but if anybody has any collateral to assist in this process all suggestions would be very welcome and gratefully received. I am new to layout building so it's a voyage of adventure for myself and I reckon a a 5 year time frame for its construction but who knows with this kind of project? Many Thanks Iain Gould

  9. Signature Kits are pleased to announce a new kit to go with both steam and diesel traction that reflects the lime stone traffic from the Peak District Quarries to the ICI works at Northwich. The kit will be offered in both kit form and or ready to run. The kit can be detailed in both the steam era 1946 - 1968 and the diesel era post 1968 to 1992 so it offers the modeller of the modern era of BR plenty of scope. The kits will be complete with all wheels and transfer for the appropriate era chosen by the customer and we offer a weathering service if required as part of the ready to run service being offered.
