  1. Can someone advise me as to what this piece is for ( there are two of them) I'm hoping someone says it's to mount a kadee type coupling onto the loco as I really want to use this type of coupling. Any help/advice re thus would be most welcome
  2. Ive bought a couple of tts sounds (i'm happy with them, they do what they say on the tin and at two for less than the price of one of my other sound chips.... anyhow, I was wondering if anyone has looked into fitting stay alive to them?
  3. I am using a Zimo sound chip (without going into the whys and wherefores I dont have it at home at the moment due to a fault) and can't remember the model number, I have purchased three DCC Concepts super chips (if you see their You tube video you will understand why) but due to the speaker etc the dcc concept one will not fit which is why i thought of custom building a pack to fit in the space thats left.
  4. Wow, loads of info but i dont have enough knowlege to decipher Seriously, thank you guys for this, it gives me some bedtime reading.
  5. Is my understanding correct, the higher the uF value the better the energy storage? Next question, how does the votage rating affect the performance?
  6. I am trying to fit a stay alive device into a Bachmann class 20 however as always, there is not much room, cant fit anything in the belly tank as its a solid moulding, the only room is right at the nose, due to lack of room I was thinking about using lots of smt type of capacitors (say up to 20) having done a bit of research on't web. As I class myself as a novice regarding this sort of thing I was wondering if these would be suitable https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20X-Tantalum-Capacitor-7343-25V-100Uf-Type-D-20-Smd-Surface-Mount-New-Ic-I/382052386788?_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170907081254%26meid%3D98d7da33e7114831bfe01ca86bec779f%26pid%3D100281%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D3%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100281.m3567 or could anyone give me some advice, I was thinking due to small size I could make a pack up to suit my needs, even linking additional caps together with wires to place them anywhere they will fit. cheers, Mick
  7. Well, turns out she runs sweet, no issues through the pointwork, DCC sound can now be installed
  8. No I haven't run it on the layout yet (just running it in on dc before the conversion to DCC sound which is ready and waiting to be fitted), just using the simple approach, if its right on the rollers it should be right on the track
  9. AND, having just looked at placing an order......lead time 8 MONTHS!, I dont think my patience will last that long:)
  10. The only thing here is.....these wheelsets are for the Branchline model only, I assume that the branchline is identified on the end of the box?
  11. Silver sideline, having studied the wheelsets closely I can see it is just one wheel that is not running true (its eccentric rather than a wobble) I can envisage general running problems re pick up, I have a sound decoder to fit in the loco but I want to ensure its spot on before I let it loose on my layaout (I have learned over the years that a loco that runs well causes less hassle and more fun time) I have looked on the web, I can find EM wheelsets fom ultrascale ( wonder if these can be altered to 16.5)
  12. Hi all, I have a new bachman class 20 (new as in purchased around 9 months ago), I have today for the first time got it out of its box and started to run it in on my rolling road, immediately I noticed one of the wheels does not run true causing the loco to rise and fall (by a very small but noticeable amount) I would like to replace the wheelsets with something better, can anyone recommend anything (standard 00 gauge).
  13. Eldavo (or anyone else) any chance of some detailed pictures of the arduino setup (I am not very good at understanding electronic circuits but I can copy what someone else has done) and the sketch to operate it. I would dearly love to create a multi servo system rather than peco type point motors. Thanks in advance
