  1. I also notice that the emergency door release is at the wrong end. This is the same as there current range, but Oxford rail got this right.
  2. I thought they looked a bit like the HST versions Oxford Rail have shown. Reason why I am thinking this is the wire handles on the roof water tanks as Hornby moulded them in with the roof on the sliding door versions.

On show at the Warley show was the Oxford rail mk3’s with the correct roof vent for the HST so it does look like they made a start on develop them.

You’re not the only one who missed that information, but who is the manufacturer who is going to produce one. Hopefully Accurascale with a full range of MK3 coaches.
  5. Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to turn the cab lights on when fitted with a decoder? cheers
  6. So just looking on the Hattons site and photos of the Virgin MK3 and they look like they don’t have the tinted windows. Surely they would not of but clear glazing in, that would be a backward move. Hattons also say they have metal buffers. Got my hands on them now yes they have tinted windows but still plastic buffers.
  7. Ordered from Hattons and at the original price, which as surprised me.
  8. At last I have 2 Virgin mk3’s on the way to me placed the order on 24/1/17 this is the longest I’ve ever waited. Just hoping for some extra numbered coaches next year.
  9. Hi Guys, I have had a paint problem with 3 of the Cross Country Livery ones and I also have 2 of them which have a wobble. one of them didn't have enough paint on the roof at one end but I did keep that one as from certain angles it did not show as much. I have done a bit of detailing on the interiors painting the tables, backs of the seats and end walls it as made a bit of a difference. I remade the interior of the first class coach as it had the second class interior in, a link to my youtube video I also painted the orange plastic looking electric connectors and picked out some of the under body details. I also noticed that Hornby had missed out on painting the controls for the water on the second class coaches but had done it on the first and catering coaches. I also have added some steel disc brakes as you can not tell they are there on the wheels. Overall I do like the coaches but I think Hornby could of done a bit better. looking at the Oxford rail MK3s with their painted interiors, separate disc brakes and more separately fitted details for the same price. Plus I did not have to send one back with paint defects. Hoping that we get updated HST Slam Doors MK3 next Hornby or Oxford Rail as they have shown samples of HST versions.
  10. Does anyone know if there will be different running numbers for the virgin version like what they have done with the other liveries?
  11. I emailed Oxford rail asking if they are any further on with the licence for the virgin west coast livery as it’s been nearly 2 years since they announce them. Also about the HST versions of the coaches, email back from them saying still waiting for licence and that they never said they were making the HST versions but to watch this space. I am sure in their original info it said they were making them and along with the drawing of the mk3 body with the different variants showed a TGS, also a photos of 5 coaches in a display case shows them to be HSTs, as the roof clearly shows the space were the square roof vent goes and no grab handle on the end of the coach. Or am I just imagining it as I can not find a link anymore to the original press release.
  12. Hi Guys, Just taken my RUB apart and I am very impressed with the amount of detail on the interior, looks like they have not painted the seating in the correct orange colour of the first class, but have used the same colours as what is in the Swallow livery RFM. I am going to add 2 doors on to the kitchen wall, a hand rail along the windows and some no smoking window signs. I have included some photos of the interior.
  13. Hi Guys, Just a quick question, I have just received My MK3 RUB Blue & Grey, has I have never seen the real one on the west coast and I am struggling the find photos of it. I just want to know if the interior seat colour should be orange like it was in the HST sets and not the colour which Oxford Rail as used, Also should the red line above the window finish at the seating area not half way. Peter
  14. Hi, I have come across a couple of problems, the first one is with trying to read / programme decoders that are fitted to none motorised models with the Bachmann Dynamis. When trying to programme my Hornby HST dummy car and MK3 DVT on the programming track all I get is Write error. I have tried with the HST dummy car and the power car together but still get the write error. I can not read any cv values, but it does seem to write the ID number to it. My second question is how do I get the handset to remember the speed step to all my locos? I change them all on the handset to 28 steps but it keeps reverting them all back to 128 steps. Thank you in advance for your help. Peter
  15. Hi, Thank you all for the information I have managed to change the direction of my 3 HST's. You might think it would of been easier to change the power cars round, only reason I did not wish to do that, is I like the motored power car to push on the larger radius curves and pull on the inner ones, plus I know they all go round my layout with no problems. I have come across a couple of other thing with the Dynamis which I will write a new post for. Thank you all once again for the help. Peter
  16. Hi, I have 3 Hornby HST's fitted with loksound V4.0 decoders with Olivia's sound on them. I am trying to change CV29 to change the direction, I have changed it to 1 which works but the lights do not work all the sound functions work, so to get them to work again I have to re write the address to it which then alters the direction back the other way. I have tried doing this on both Hornby elite and Bachmann dynamis. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advance for any help. Peter
  17. The class 43 would be a great choice and a mk3 DVT, even though Hornbys DVT is good, but does have its faults like no close coupling, height, rear buffers in extended position and no option to put a coupling on to the front. I am looking forward to the HST MK3s Peter
  18. Hi guys, just reading about all the comments about the MK3's, l have got a set of the Arriva one's and have to say they look good, all got the correct interiors and correct vents on the buffet car roof. But why have we not got the same standards as the pullman coaches and the same choice. There is so many different versions. All we get is 3 mk3's which are okay and 3 which are 1983 with a few updates and in my opinion should be re branded as railroad models. I am going to put some Kadee couplings on to the body of the coaches to try and get the gap closer between them, just got to find a way to do the DVT a great model let down by buffers on the rear that stick out too much and with no close coupling as a gap of over a cm. I am just waiting for Bachmann to bring them out, hopefully when the new mk2's are out, next up MK3's. I even thought Dapol may of produced them with them producing the N guage ones.
