  1. Re the facing turnout Tony..... The layout is BR 1980s. Inspired by Dent and Blea Moor and the S&C in general....but not intended to be strictly prototypical. The main to main cross over is trailing, but the turn-outs for the loops are facing. Looking at Anderson&Fox, it shows a 1962 signalling diagram for Blea Moor with facing points for the loops so I guess the LMS aversion to facing points was relaxed in later years. The layout is largely based on this loop structure.
  2. The local P.Way gang packing ballast on the points just south of the station whilst Class 31, number 31 205 trundles past on the Down Main with a rake of PCAs.
  3. Class 25, No. 25 279, waiting at the headshunt whilst on engineering standby duties on a cold bright day during the Christmas holiday period signalling engineering upgrade works.
  4. Thanks for your response. I've looked at my A&F book and plates 55 (and 54) do show the pole route ending at the Northern end of Blea Moor Tunnel. I understand the wires are then routed into wooden trunking through the tunnel. I'm still looking for a more detailed picture of how that transition from pole to wooden troughing is achieved. My layout has a tunnel at each end, so I might look to have one tunnel with a pole route over the top and the other tunnel with a pole route through the tunnel....best of both worlds! Cheers
  5. Q. On the Settle Carlisle line, was it more appropriate for the telegraph pole route to go over the top of the tunnels, or were the wires routed through the tunnel? If routed through the tunnel, how was the transition from pole to wires entering the tunnel achieved (pictures if possible). Many thanks in advance for your advice.
  6. Thank you. N Gauge. 10ft x 3ft split across two boards. Approx 2ft scenery visible and 1ft fiddle yard (4 line) non visible. BR Blue Diesel era. Scenario based on S&T signalling upgrade preparation - but still semaphore. Standard DC control. Seep solenoid point operated. Next tasks: Semaphore signalling installation (working) Telegraph Poles Snow fences
  7. My first attempt at a model railway. Brickhill is a fictitious location based on the S&C area with inspiration taken from Dent and Blea Moor.
  8. Brickhill progress update. Next tasks: signalling and snow fences.
  9. To give some idea of the layout of Brickhill, here are a couple of diagrams. The track is now fixed, but the other items like positioning of signals etc is still subject to change. Track Layout & Signalling Diagram: Panel Diagram:

    Introduction

Brickhill is an N Gauge layout based on a fictitious location in the Settle Carlisle area. This is a first attempt at model railway construction for me. It is 10x3 ft split cross two boards and is located in a spare room dedicated for its use. Construction has been underway for a while, and I'm now catching up with a blog to show progress, mistakes and the new skills I am learning. More to follow....
