Thanks all, as per above I have just tried again via Google and the site appears to be working now. For some reason I couldn't get checkout to take me to PayPal but managed to place my order and pay via credit card.

Same here. The rest of the website seems to work - just not the railway pages.
Exactly what I found via Google.

Hi all,
Still works for me - I use this link
https://www.popupdesigns.co.uk/shop-3d-gift-cards/
Thanks
Phil H
I just get this when opening that link:
www.popupdesigns.co.uk is currently unable to handle this request.

Having finally decided to place an order, have the Pop Up Railway Products suddenly moved to a different site, as their website won't allow me to view the railway models, but everything else seems to work? It worked fine last week.
Or is there a problem with the website?
TIA,
Martyn.

Myself and my sidekick, Mike, had a great weekend at Rainhill show, the layout behaved perfectly and to top it all we took the "Best layout in show" award. I managed to get a few new photos too, some of which are below.

Unexpectedly I had a free day today, giving me a choice of visiting Preston or Rainhill exhibitions. I chose the latter because I wanted to see Crinan and because I had never been to the St Helens Museum of Transport.
Crinan was excellent, better than the photos on here and the revised quayside superb. Very friendly show too.
In the morning I took the free vintage bus to the St Helens museum, that was far better than expected. As well as the expected buses (two of which I had learnt to drive on) there were smaller displays throughout the museum which were well worth reading.
Glad you had a good day Colin, thankyou for your kind comments also. The Transport Museum is still on my to do list I must admit!

"Auld Reekie" in its natural habitat, leaving the Crinan Canal lock. And a glimpse of the revamped quayside.

Any planned outings of Crinan to exhibitions this year? I really enjoyed seeing it at York a few years back.
Thanks! Crinan will be at Rainhill show on 2nd & 3rd March, hopefully with further outings later this year (watch this space).

You should rearrange the figures to replicate the "bow, I'm flying" scene from Titanic!

He probably would Jim! As the layout is set around 1970 though, this vessel was in use for group trips, before it's stint in use for filming Para Handy. The irony is that the real thing is undergoing restoration at Crinan Boat Yard today.
Taken from "National Historic Ships UK":
AULD REEKIE was built in 1943 as VIC 27 for the Admiralty. Her builders were Isaac Pimblott & Sons Limited of Northwich and she was powered by a steam compound engine built by Crabtree (1931) Limited. She is of iron/steel riveted construction.
In 1945 she supported a barrage balloon on the River Scheldt in the Netherlands
Sold out of service by the Admiralty to Sir James Miller in 1968 and registered as AULD REEKIE in 1969, her use then was for the Land Sea and Air Youth Club Limited. In 1979 she was sold to Bathgate Brothers and used in the TV series Para Handy. Subsequently, she passed through two owners and is presently under restoration at Crinan Boatyard.

The very, very kitbashed Peedie Models "Puffer", which has been on the go for about 4 years I think, is now finally completed and ready for adding to the layout.

Bit of a catch up! The Sole is finally done, as crane runner to the modified Hornby 4w Crane, along with a Cambrian Herring ballast wagon.
Another Triang cut & shut Mk1 BG was finished late last year and a Hornby LMS TPO is "in the shops", though currently on hold pending a fuller conversion than I had originally planned.

Nice work, Martyn. Those rivets doing exactly what they should then. Conspicuous for application then disappearing when painted.
I like the work on the 25. I presume the t/c panel is just chain drilled out the cleaned up?
Davy.
Thanks Davy, yes the rivets really do disappear when painted, had to get the light right so they show up in a photo:
I must get the interior painting and lettering done.
And yes the Token cutout on the 25 was indeed chain drilled, cleaned up and a plasticard insert fitted; the roof boiler area had a plasticard panel made, as the Bachmann part is for boiler fitted locos and not correct for this batch, but fortunately was easily pressed out being a separate part, allowing the new one to be glued into place.
At least this is just about ready to join the fleet now.

The new ballast has had a blow over with sleeper grime to blend it in, card roadways have also been added along the quayside, ready for painting, and the Macbraynes Depot is being bedded into position.
Couldn't resist a couple of posed photos!
More soon.

Thanks all for the comments and for the crane photo John. I still need to make the jack supports for mine, which it shows nicely.
I am currently having a riveting time adding Railtec rivets to the Sole, they look rather pronounced in the photo but in reality are nothing like as noticable after a quick pass with black paint (further photos to follow).
At least they are easy to see on the black base coat!
I'm also altering an old Bachmann class 25/3 to one of the Scottish tablet catcher recess fitted locos, with roof mods to suit based on photos, and a spare resin underframe casting left over from the Hornby 25 conversions.
Thanks all,
Martyn.

A few wagons on the workbench currently, mainly picked up very cheaply from shows / toyfairs.
The LMS Sole ballast wagon is being scratchbuilt from plasticard with cast parts from my stash, to act as another crane runner.

I like the higher-level stock siding which brings more 3D to the scene. Any more progress since your last post?
Kevin
Hello Kevin, apologies for the delay responding, as you can probably guess by this (!) I have not added any further detailing lately due to lack of time and other commitments. Some of the inspiration came from your "70s Spotting Days" Scotland volume I should add, so thankyou for that!

Wow, what a brilliant thread. And fantastic modelling. The stabling point just captures the atmosphere and the high level carriage road as a transition into the carriage shed back scene......genius.
I can almost smell diesel exhaust and the whiff of lube oil and diesel fuel from the sodden ballast.
Very much liking the motive power variety, an interesting point in time / history with the green to blue transition together with the last hurrah of earlier classes.
I am very impressed with this, it's superb observational modelling.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for your kind comments and apologies again for the delay in responding as I have not looked in for a while.
Yes, a fascinating period as you say, with many changes even during the short period I aim to portray (1969-74) with the class 17s and 29s being withdrawn and replaced with mainly class 24s & 25s around 1972.

I'm calling the Borail done now. I really must get on with other projects......
The load of a few rails is just right for "Crinan", running with a couple of "Sturgeon" bogie wagons. The layout is having a make over of the goods yard area currently.

Following spraying with "Sleeper grime", ballasting of the new trackwork has been undertaken. It now needs another blow over to blend it in. The first couple of photos show how the station end of the goods yard is now less cluttered with buildings, whilst giving extra siding length.
The NCL depot has relocated to the other end of the yard area, along with the MacBraynes depot which I built some time back.
The quayside in between these will have a crane of some sort added along with other detritus.
All slow progress, but getting there slowly.

That's very interesting.
Do you know if it's possible to pass the same sheet multiple times through the printer? That is, if I print a 7x3mm decal in one corner, can I reuse the rest of the sheet at a later date?
And yes, I have Scottish ancestors.
It didn't end well when I tried as the printer pickup of the paper wasn't accurate enough to ensure it printed in exactly the right position, which ruined the image.
So, possible yes, but depends on the printer at a guess.......
Better going for a single pass, having altered the settings to a photographic setting and high quality in my experience.

Not much modelling done, but the Cambrian Borail is finally almost complete, and the V2 Mk1 ScR Griddle sides (Sc1103-6) in conjunction with Worsley Works have arrived and look rather juicy....no one having done a kit or sides previously.

Stoves are neat stock. I remember how wildly popular the N gauge one was.
I agree, I think they were always sought after by modellers once Hornby Dublo brought out their version in the 60s. The more recent Dapol/Hornby ones command top prices on Ebay too.

The Saloon is finished, 6w also Stove complete other than handrails and development towards the ScR Griddle car is underway with help from Worseley Works. Plus weathering continues on the Crinan fleet.
I am experiencing posting issues on RMweb with random huge spaces between text and photos which are not of my doing so posting involves a lot of time removing this gap (see my previous post which is not playing ball at all, even with editing). I have reported this but not had any response or solution.

As hinted at above, the Hornby LMS TPO is undergoing a total rebuild to become 1958 built M30309, one of a pair of 57' vehicles. The chassis has been replaced with a spare Airfix 57' chassis, new window and end panels inlaid and all the beading and roof ribs removed. A slow burner this one, for sure!
