    My guess is it did have gangways at one time ............ details in Weddell, no doubt - but he's at home !

    Brake gear was better on the HD model too ..... OK it was pressed tinplate not exactly up to today's standards - but better than the great chunks of plastic half a light year away from the wheels that superseded it.

    Didn't look particularly usable in 2013 ......... no doubt the Weymouth Envoy would have gone down there if it had been.

    ......... and to add to the above; the sides were meant to be painted green, red or blue ; most of the time, you couldn't tell through the grime.

    Sorry, the word 'mirrored' was a little ambiguous : yes the songle brake shoes are mirrored but one push rod is above the cross shaft and the other below ( I suppose that's mirrored on a different axis ! ).

    But is the deteriorated condition of a section of railway track actually causing risks to anything other than a railway vehicle ?

    Used to be the case - but they've invented all these Power Electronical thingies so AC motors can be used ........................... er - as DY444 says.

    According to a.n.other thread - which I can't find for the moment - “Removal started today of the Tramway track apparently, starting at the Ferry station.” ............ 'today' being yesterday, indeed the 2nd March.

    How standard was standard ? ........... How long's a piece of string to judge it by ? ............................ somewhere in the region of 3'4½'' would be normal - but probably varied over time - and from Railway to Railway.

    Shame they couldn't set the headcode to operate as a digital meter so the CEGB knew what they owed !

    Not exactly : looking at that original photo back on page 1 - there are only two shoes operated by Morton gear so the one on the 'near' side works directly with the push rod below the cross shaft and the far one - on the cam side - has the push rod above the cross shaft. ... anyway : Board of Trade rather than RCH ! - sorry. Taking another look at the CAD, I hope they can do something about the thickness of the 'W' irons ( Maybe chamfer the back edges ? ) - they look as thick as the axlebox is deep !

    And there was a half sister too : D0227 was a diesel hydraulic - I don't think I've ever seen a picture of it.

    The mention of D0226 is so unsubtle I guess it's not a hint for a yet-to-be-announced mystery loco ......... probably more the sort of oddball thing H***** would produce anyway.

    Technically, I think a branch off a branch is a twig .............. anyway, the 'special' Topsham brake was an S.E.R. one that was - for some reason - spare from Folkestone.

    Unlikely such a lowly vehicle would have received choc'an'cream in BR days .... that was mainly reserved for prestige Mk1 rakes.

    While there is absolutely no point in adopting full-on rant mode at this stage, a public airing of one's concerns can prompt others to mention different issues that the manufacturer can/probably ought to address. The time for full-on rant mode is when the manufacturer puts a model - or whatever - on the shelves without listening to the outside world ................. hopefully there will be no need.

    indeed - but I think Bachmann have cottoned on to that : I wanted to reverse the chassis on my Birdcage Brake Compo ( so the three-point support matched the other two coaches ) and on these vehicles, at least, the body clips are positioned asymmetrically so you can't get it wrong.

    More than mildly annoying ................. that it's not available in 4mm scale.

    Must admit I've not checked any variants other than those I'm specifically interested in - but I clicked on one at random today and found the 'due' date for some has been updated from 2019 ......... as it stands variants A to F are shown as due THIS year and the rest remain as 2019 - which is obviously wrong, but might signify NOT 2020. No idea whether any such difference is intended or should they all be shown as this year, I wonder......... fingers still firmly crossed.

    Don't forget it's only the Oleo buffers that have a nice shiny silvery shank - they'd be black/rusty on the old 'spring' type buffers on 350s etc.

    Just spotted there's an advert hereabouts "Adjustable rails keep you in the race" .................. do they know something we don't ??!?
