At present a Lima class47 and class121 DMU with Deltang units and class 40 and class 117 DMU with Tam Valley units. All are powered by 11v batteries. They fit snugly if you take the weights out. Had to take the seats out of the DMU's to make them fit.

I go round with a small garden blower which clears most of the debris off. Adhesion does not seem to be a problem and l have an up and over incline to contend with. Removing the loco weights to fit the battery in could cause problems on smaller vehicles l suppose but so far l have only converted main line locos which seen fine so l will have to see.

Corbs, can l ask what sort type of battery you use and where you fit it?

The reason l chose to go with the Tam Valley system was that l could continue to use my existing DCC controller (Bachman) . Both Deltang , Micron and Protocab use there own hand held control units and l'm think they only run DC but am happy to be corrected there, although l do have some DC locos which l might wish to convert as well.

With a bit of fettling it fits flat in say a class 47 or 40 quite easily or loco tender. Tam Valley suggest a 11.1 volt battery but some say a 7.5 or even 3.7 volt will work but with loss of speed/power. Not a problem as my M7 does not need to do 125mph!

00 gauge garden railways are quite a common idea now as cheaper alternitive to O gauge. What l'm looking for is something that is small enough to fit into a tank engine bunker (Jinty, M7) . The alternitive is the battery fitted into a wagon or van and connected to the loco.

I am using Tam Valley Depot equipment to radio control locos on an 00 gauge garden railway which is proving very successful. It's easy to fit the batteries into larger diesels or tender locos but l am running into problems with small tank or diesel shunters because of battery size. Can anyone suggest smaller size batteries that will have sufficient oomph in them to be any good and suppliers please. If offering technical advise please treat me like an idiot as l am an electrical dimbo on these thing !

The point l was making is that if the site owners are receiving benefits from suppliers by reviewing there products it would be nice that this was acknowledged. A simple name drop would do. Yes and also it would help if sometimes presenters did do a bit of there own research and not just spout out the details from the press releases they have been given. Somehow shouting at the screen when they spout drivel doesn't help, can't they hear me!!. As for filming, as said politeness goes a long way, and on the whole l enjoy watching exhibition footage but perhaps if these you tubers who are making any money out of it they, and not all are of course, could donate a small percentage back to the club organisers or there nominated charity? Perhaps organisers should think about making the own productions when the public aren't there, a sort of show reel where exhibitors can show off a bit. Personally l have always wondered how these large layouts are put together such accuracy in what must be a short time. Just a thought.

I am not a regular attendee at model railway exhibitions limiting myself to those within easy reach so enjoy watching the highlights from shows published on you tube, that was until recently when l was told to "shut up talking, I'm filming" by some wally at a show recently. Mr W. Ally was told were to put his phone by me, subject closed. That was until l related the story to friends who tell me that the "silence please" brigade are popping up in ever increasing numbers at exhibitions now. I have seen notices at shows that filming is only allowed for personal use and permission must be obtained otherwise. Does anyone ever ask permission of organisers? are organisers missing out on a revenue steam from these You Tubers? Secondly, the un boxing and review videos, again on you tube. Yes they are love them or hate them but now l find that many of these reviewers with subscriber's in the thousands are plugging items from various suppliers and distributors as if the have bought them themselves when infact they are reviewing them for payment or at least getting the said items for free. Has anyone ever seen a bad review? Remember these prolific You Tubers can also payments for the amount of hits they get, perhaps they should be a bit more transparent, if not honest to there viewers.

Recently l bought a Tam Valley DRX mk3 receiver to convert a loco to dead rail. (not from Tam Valley) Unfortunately it did not come with instructions and being a bit thick l am am confused by Tam Valley instructions on there website. Red and black wires go to the battery and l asume the yellow and white ones go to DCC decoder but am not sure where. Can anyone help and idiot out in simple language please.
