  1. Thank’s Ian, but the late Colin Park’s scratch built 4mm 4-COR is, to me, the finest model of this prototype. It, and his other work, is truly inspirational. Cheers Darius
  2. Thanks Mike. I am, indeed, building these kits for the fun of it all 😀 Hard to believe, I know. Cheers Darius
  3. There’s an awful lot of boilerplate padding in these reports. Section 4.1 on the implications on actually constructing the new route, i.e. knocking down buildings and actually realigning away from the original route is particularly short considering the acres of pages devoted to non specific statistics. I followed the route on Google Maps and the thing that struck me was the extent to which the trackbed has been built over. Took three minutes to form the conclusion that this project is a non-starter. The cost section also illustrates why this is extremely unlikely to happen. Still, that’s more public money for Atkins to produce a spectacularly padded-out report rather than spent for the direct benefit of the Council’s constituents. Cheers Darius
  4. Chassis constructed and fitted. Cheers Darius
  5. I am assuming that the “perforated” walls in the sub-floor void that support the internal walls are more than one brick course thick. Even so knocking large holes in bearing walls is a risky prospect - especially at foundation level where the vertical load is greatest. Solid brick walls should be able to “arch” over man-sized holes but I am not sure this “arching” effect would be quite as adequate in a perforated brickwork wall. If there is cracking apparent in the walls above then there may be problems. Darius
  6. Roof details added to the second DMBSO. Cheers Darius
  7. Really enjoyed that - thanks for posting. Cheers Darius
  8. Minor mods to the DMBSO power bogie. Shoe beams modified and MJT fuse boxes fitted. Cheers Darius
  9. Looks like very severe oxidation of the tip. Did you coat the tip with solder after each use? This prevents oxidation as it seals the tip from exposure to the air. Cheers Darius
  10. Arrived yesterday - simply superb models. Cheers Darius
  11. That type of wall construction would be ok as an infill between the store support piers but would not be strong enough itself to support the store in place of the piers. Cheers Darius
  12. Those injection moulded bricks are nice but a whole wall’s worth could be quite expensive. A typical UK facing brick is 215mm long by 65mm high by 102.5mm deep. In OO (1/76) that scales to 2.8mm x 0.9mm x 1.4mm. Let’s call that 3mm x 1mm x 1.5mm to make things easy. You can thus make your own bricks from 1mm thick plasticard - which allows for the thickness of the horizontal mortar bond between brick courses. I tried this out myself just now:- Laying OO gauge bricks is quite therapeutic as long as it’s a small screen wall. For anything larger I think 3D printing is the best way forward if only to preserve your sanity. Cheers Darius
  13. A friendly 3D printer may be of help. Cheers Darius
  14. If you watch the video posted on the other thread you can see how it works. Cheers Darius
  15. Just the second DMBSO to complete and get primed. Then I can get started on final painting, glazing, decals, interiors and light weathering. Corridor connectors will be fitted after final painting. Cheers Darius
  16. The uncoupling feature is neat but I’ve already ordered and paid for my 31s from Accurascale. So there it is. Cheers Darius
