  1. I think they are quite crude chairs compared to C&L/Exactoscale and they have holes to take track pins so more suited to non prototypical trackwork.
  2. I used Peco rail as it fitted better than the C&L rail. Yes I know it's not spot on for bullhead profile but you can't tell once it's assembled. I would recommend it!!!! This is a link on the forum to show how good it is.... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/111464-gwr-scale-track-components/ Hope this helps
  3. Have given up asking Dapol don't think they will ever make them!
  4. Found this quote from earlier post, Posted by a member on 03 November 2017, which suggests not much movement on this model has been made yet. Note the same comment made about production status at two different times.... "The Dapol collectors club magazine which arrived to me yesterday a bit chewed by the Royal Mail (so maybe a bit delayed), but still legible, had a table of status updates which doesn't add much except it is in black and white. '14xx CAD/CAM finalisation about to go into tooling'" Shame there is no further information, but not a surprise!
  5. ...and I suggest you might like to add another 9 months to this estimate based on past delivery performance.
  6. Just opened my correct colour van only to find one I the buffers is missing! Shame as the rest of the van has travelled half way around the world before anyone noticed.... A simple quality drop off which should have been captured at source. Now got to spend time and effort sorting myself.... Again!!
  7. Not had an email sorry but going to check my order tomorrow from my supplier before parting with my money.
  8. Yes agreed and just hope they don't pick an obscure colour scheme like they did with original green batches.
  9. Worthwhile TQM and continuous improvements needs willing participants and desire to do something differently which costs money and effort. Getting the next product to market is likely to be business priority of the day as this will generate more immediate revenue. I agree this is not how it should work but it feels like it from my point of cynical view. Nothing unethical it's just a business method/target supported by a returns process if customer is not happy. I would call it business risk management. Not seen movie but will watch thank you.
  10. Do agree on this one but I doubt if many will return items as they will either accept or fix it themselves. So it maybe the returns are going to be low in comparison with the high sales volume which is priority I guess and just part of normal business. I notice quality issues seem to be an issue aross many products and yet the customer is still prepared to dig deep to get what they want warts anMejznerd all. Why spend money on getting product 100% right when the majority are quiet happy if it's sometimes less than perfect. Shame to say this and i want product to be 100% perfect but I'm going to be realistic and just pleased we are now getting some stunning models which we have never had before, and yes there may some imperfections I will just accept, if not it goes back.
  11. Quality control is not a free service, so the less you pay the less you get... pretty obvious really. If it's not fit for purpose send it back.
  12. Yes I had several issues and had to return locos for replacement and refund but loco not bad value in my opinion. If it's perfection you are seeking then paying closer to £1,200+ for a mass-produced version from some of the leading locomotive suppliers if this model was available for purchase (eg Lee Marsh or Mastermodels) then you might get you what you want. I said might... I have a small loco from one of these manufactures and it was not perfect even for that money. Sounds like you are expecting too much from Dapol for such a cheaply mass produced item. At the end of the day locos are not bad for money really and the one of the best O gauge locos I have purchased (well that's in my opinion). I have built many white metal a etched brass 0 gauge locos in my time so nice to have something that is accurate and at long last straight out of the box and at such a low cost compared to the kits.
  13. Not a huge difference in cost and depends on how many points you want to make. Initial setup cost is high as you have to buy gauges and minimum quantity of chairs avaible so this may mean you have to purchase more chairs than maybe needed. The huge advantage of PECO O gauge points is they work straight out of the box and it's ready to run. Think I will use PECO from now on as I have an finescale layout made with individual components but I have made some significant improvements and PECO track that makes it just as good in my opinion. I'm sure there will be other opinions on this but this is my view after completing my initial 7mm layout. Cheers GMM
  14. I assume you can still get Exactoscale chairs from C&L until Exactoscale take back the range (whenever that is of course). Probably worth calling Phil at C&L to clarify what's happening in order to help you direct. Cheers GMM
  15. Unfortunately not the case with mine they had significant issues and previous owner admitted there were issues with tooling. I bought my chairs just before the business was sold on. I believe it was something to do with the part of the tool that formed the rail cross section during moulding process. I had several that bent and cracked when threading onto rail and slide chairs failed to touch rail web as they were held off by rail foot. I ended up using PECO rail section as outlined in earlier post and they slid on without any issues and have reamained firmly in place. Sounds as though you might have had a better batch than mine. Cheers GMM
  16. There two types C&L and Exactoscale chairs .... C&L came first Exactoscale were made later and are better quality mouldings. Both are intermixable but you you may have to mix 3 bolt with 4 bolt with 2 bolt chair to get close to region you are modeling. None of the ranges provide a complete set of chairs apart from I believe the four bolt version produced by Exactoscale. Two bolt chairs are better in Exactoscale compared to C&L two bolt chairs ...... It's all a bit of a minefield really and both makes suffer from worn tooling. Probably not answered you question really, but think your assumption is close to reality.
  17. Unfortantly I ended up spending a considerable amount of time and effort trying to get Exactoscale 7mm running chairs slide chairs to fit the rail. After much measurement I suspected there was a problem with the products and raised this with the previous owner who eventually agreed tooling was worn but nothing has been done about it (I outlined the problems on this forum under a different heading at the time and supplied photos to show the issues) see link below for details... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/user/29282-greenmodelmonkey/ I eventually got over the problem buy using PECO rail section instead of C&L rail and it fitted the Exactoscale chairs perfectly. I know the PECO rail section is not quite right but the thinner foot of this rail fitted the chairs and does not look any different once fitted and weathered. I was going to buy some spare ready made 7mm track at a recent show from C&L but decided against it as I thought the material used for rails was so silver in appearance (which is claimed makes it look more like steel, but I have never seen real rail this colour and still think nickel silver is best ... and cheaper to produce). I also noted that rail was not as smooth along its length as I have been used to other makes of rail so rail looked like cheap Lima track if anyone can remember this. Just hope that Exactoscale chairs will get sorted if range is being moved again as it was a shame products standards and quality had slipped under previous ownership. Hope this helps as situation at the time gave me a real headache especially as I had to make all my one pointwork aswell. Also a considerable sum of money was invested the products which were far from perfect ... at the time of purchase course. Cheers GMM
  18. Who did the fix as I thinking of sending mine back for a couple of issues but a little reluctant if it comes back worse?
  19. Spoke to Phil at Bristol show yesterday he is getting on top of things and had well stocked stand. He is having to overcome many issues due to take over but is making good progress to sort out inherited issues. Nice chap!
  20. Just checked with Antics and they said they were given the wrong information and are now expected in next couple of months
  21. Ummmm think I need to check what's coming.... And when then, cheers
  22. Antics made contact with me yesterday for payment in readiness for swift delivery which they said Dapol said was imminent. Looking forward to these!
