  1. T'other side at Loughborough on 16/8/97 : - .... looks to be in 'as received' condition.
  2. ...or could you assume that the diagram for each outside ( or inside ) cylinder would be as close as dammit to its opposite number ??!?
  3. Yes, of course I knew prexactly what you meant. 😊
  4. Moreover, there are EE type 4s available - or on their way - from other sources yet no C2 or C2X* to haul coal wagons available from various manufacturers. * feel free to swap for other appropriate 'missing' locos if you wish.
  5. I'd guess the thumbscrew to the right of the pulley would be tightened to grip the cord.
  6. You'd have difficulty prosecuting a truck ................ but, seriously, the matter could be covered in the vehicle's Annual Test - though the portability of a satnav would be problematic.
  7. ... and, as we know, a bad workman blames his tools.
  8. I think you'd struggle to find any genuine Kent coal !
  9. Generally true but 'sets' were mentioned and the coaches considered to be part of a permanent set would normally go through the paintshop together ........ but not always !
  10. 563 was reinstated to traffic in 1939 to help with the war effort - how helpful it was might be debatable - and was painted unlined Maunsell green with Bulleid insignia* according to Southern Style .......... presumably it remained thus until 1945. * pre-war style, of course, with the pointy 'N's
  11. C'mon, everybody knows that all GWR locos are the same - so Pannier Tanks must be 'generic' by definition ! 🤪
  12. Probably since the demise of the Car Carrier ............. maybe that'll be 'announced' for reinstatement next April 1st ??!?
  13. I have little doubt that Bing & Hornby ( original ) had tinplate things called "Flying Scotsman" and/or "Royal Scot" but when it comes to models that actually resemble the prototype, I can think of no duplicates until the '70s or '80s - maybe the Castle class or ( questionably ) the N2 ??!? And yet, fifty odd years after those, we still have plenty of items - some which existed then and some which have appeared in the interim - which are not available RTR.
  14. Now, if anyone doesn't like multiple units you have to question why they'd choose to model a 2000+ date layout ........ answers on a postcard !
  15. So why can't we have a 'generic' range of coaches that happens to be precisely accurate for the railway that some lucky modellers would like - rather than a totally new invention !!?!
  16. .... though at least one member of the model railway community ( ME ) would disagree that we need a repeat more than anything else.
  17. Just remembered the Midland DID use 'somersault' signals - on their former Belfast & Northern Counties lines - but they were very different looking ! : - Ballymena ; 16/5/88
  18. While we have, indeed been spoilt with the Restriction 4 Maunsells - though 1934 & 1936* type are still absent - we have no RTR Restriction 0 or Restriction 1 coaches. Plenty of Bulleid designs are now available from the trade but not, yet anything like the full range. As for EMUs - hmmm - a service made up of 2BIL, 2HAL & 5BEL units is hardly prototypical ........ and the later, BR Mk1, units are well short of comprehensive coverage. ( Various Mk1 units could form the basis for types which ran on other regions, of course. ) * the Driving trailer Compo is a notable exception - but WHY has it never been released in original form ??!?
  19. At first glance I'd say GNR-style 'somersaults' ....... but why on a Midland line ?
  20. I'm not totally convinced about BCK ( other passenger brakes are available ) .... but the LMS/BR clincher would be the presence or absence of visible underframe trussing : my eyesight doesn't see any !
  21. With umpteen hundred 08s etc. in the fleet its hardly surprising that some got a repaint between 12/56 and spring 1957.
