  1. We lost two layouts today at our Bexleyheath show due to illness/bereavement and would like to offer the spaces to maybe a new exhibitor who has a transportable layout but never exhibited before We have a max 12ft space and a max 6ft space. All we ask is that you are in easy travel distance and the layout is fully scenic. We can supply tables if it isn't self supporting. We always try and give new exhibitors a chance at our shows. The date is Sunday 10th Dec and you can set up the night before if you wish or on the Sunday morning. You get expenses and breakfast and lunch and this a well attended show with lots of trade support. Last year over 900 people came through the door over the day. We have pre-sold 73 tickets for this year already and still have 3 weeks to go. Also existing layout operators who would like to exhibit, please feel free to contact us. We have a list of exhibitors but nice to get some new layouts or existing layouts and operators who haven't done Bexleyheath. Could piccys of the layout be sent to selkentmrc@gmail.com
  2. This picture of Dakota D usually starts a mass riot.
  3. Our Official END VIOLENCE AT MODEL RAIL EVENTS T Shirts have arrived and will be worn by all the helpers at The Bexleyheath show in Dec, We have chosen pink as it is a calming colour.
  4. Our helpers will be easy to spot as they all will be in the new t shirt, We fully support the end violence at model railway events programme
  5. If the show is in December this year and run by DD Exhibitions, it is a chap called Dekota and it is usually a bit early for him to announce it yet. The shows are under the banner now of DD exhibitions, and you are correct DD Exhibitions Ltd isn't him, This is a email address I have for him, not sure if it still works, it's a few years old. I think there is a phone number for Dekota also but not sure where the next show he is running is, but scroll through UKMODELSHOPS events and you will find one of his shows with a contact number on. He doesn't have a website yet but as operating under a business name as a sole trader, you could possibly get up to date contact info on invites he sends out to exhibitors, as they will have a address and contact details for him. He runs about 8/10 shows a year and has a good selection of layouts attend the shows, but not much in the way of trade stands. All else fails, he isn't that hard to spot
  6. What happens when French layouts come to UK, do they find it odd we operate over lunch time and there is a choice of food 'Corn beef or cheese'
  7. Weds 22nd Nov MODEL RAILWAY FANS Get PISSed & KICK OFF SOCIAL DRINKIES NIGHT open invite to all the local faces and waring clubs and gauges, all welcome apart from The garden railway lot who are still banned. If you in London, maybe you live here or have come down from the north for the day to see what the term 'Infrastructure' you heard people talking about actually looks like, pop in and enjoy a friendly pint and chat about model railways. (they have a stash of Brown Ale for sale in the bar for visitors from far away). Southwark MRC usually attend so could still kick off. Starts at 7pm and all welcome. We actually have the whole venue and it is a great social night and the venue is next to New Cross BR and on major bus routes 177, 453 and 53 and free parking and 4 bike racks. (there is alco free cider and lager) for those driving. Venue is The London Theatre, 443 New Cross Road, London, SE14 6TA. Last time Ray Branchard organised a Stripper for the night and again this month will organise a sander or a jigsaw to bring with him. see www.thelondontheatre.com for details. Also can we have a few more men turn up, otherwise it's mostly women.
  8. Just updated layout and trader list, Have spoken to Invicta Model Rail at the weekend and confirm they are defo attending which is great news. Mike Pett as also stated that he will have more of the Michael Portillo oo and o figures on sale. The two halls are situated at the far end of the car park past 'GOAL's and next to Busy Bee.

  11. Oi I love my Wimpy and its next door to a model rail shop in Welling, I often stop there for a bender in a bun before heading off to kick some arse at a model rail show somewhere. Our local Lidl say on the sign 'being refurbished', I know it said that when it shut in Jan, but they are doing some slight alterations to the store like bulldozing it to the ground and other cosmetic things like that. The Bexley Borough crew are well kitted out, three model shops, one big exhibition each year, one big model railway club in Erith, One massive outdoor miniature railway, the bloke who runs the garden railway shop lives here and so the local boys can get some back up if needed. My advice is join the main Bexley boys, as we must rank as one of the most violent top rank firms in the UK. I think one of our members even got a strongly worded letter printed in Railway Modeller in the June 2016 edition. Other firms around the UK, be scared, be very scared.
  12. oh Andrew C why does your profile say Boring Borough of Bexley, Bexley is great we got a massive 24 hour ASDA and 3 weatherspoons all within a bus ride of each other and a new Lidl opening soon and a WIMPY! Seriously sort it out and change your profile as you wont like me when I am angry.
  13. I am going to the Uckfield show this weekend Mr Griff Griff, I think we should sort this out face to face and anyone else think they are hard enough to have a go, bring it on! It will have to be after 1pm as have to pop to dry cleaners in morning. No one takes liberties with a SAFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF London model railway geezer and I am a bit of a face around the local shows around SE London and parts of Kent. I've done a bit of the secuity on the OO gauge Assoication stand to stop it kicking off there in the past. Here is a mug shot of me, so you know who not to mess with.
  14. SELKENT MODEL RAILWAY CLUB www.selkentmodelrailwayclub.weebly.com , the club part is more social drinkies every month. lol. We have 5 people who go out with layouts at present locally and a number of model railway fans who come along to our monthly social drinkies night in SE London who have expressed a interest in helping. So not a model railway club in the traditional sense as no membership fee. I also ask exhibitors at exhibitions if they are interested and getting some positive comments. BTW people can come to the social drinkies night and not have to own a layout, one is hopefully feeding the other for us, the more who come to the piss ups, soz the social night's, the more we can tell about what we do and some will be able to offer their layouts.
  15. If you have a layout and it is portable and easy to set up and have a few hours spare (often weekdays) once a year, we would like to know if you would be interested in visiting a local OAP day centre near you or a school or club or local community group. Although we are SE England based, we are wanting to work more with community groups not just around London and Kent and basically at present have more and more requests which we can't attend due to work commitments. Our group are layout operators who by taking a model railway layout to a OAP day care centre for example, provide a great talking point to the residents who have memories of either model railway or more so, steam trains and childhood memories of rail travel which makes for a great afternoon of social chat. We also go to community centres and schools and have a number of request from Autistic groups to attend with a layout. Often it will have to be a layout you can transport in a car, we confirm there will be parking for you, however not always someone there who can help you set up. Payment for your time is a cup of tea, maybe a lunch and lots of happy people. Again we seek people all over the UK, if someone new joins us that opens up a new area and we then go and promote what we do to groups in that area. At present we take our Welsh 009 layout out to care homes and our end to end to Autistic groups who really engage in the operating part. We also get asked to attend local community fun days and find these really good to promote the hobby to the public. (I only have done three of these this year and all local to me) It is the biggest request we get and the layouts get lots of attention, we need more layouts and operators for these requests. We require care homes and community fairs to make sure the layout is covered in their public liability insurance It is free of course to join our group and all we ask is you can spare some time each year and are sociable and enjoy speaking to the public. We have a club van which can hold 4 layouts, and often if you just want to come along without yours and help with one of the clubs layouts at a community event, that is cool. We also seek operators who are DBS checked to work with school clubs etc. We have some funds to pay for your DBS check in certain areas where we don't have anyone yet. I know this won't be for everyone and 99% of the time is spent talking to people not in the Modelling community but you come away each time with a sense of achievement. The big ask is to get layout operators to attend a school fate at the weekend and not a exhibition. Trust me, having done both, it is rewarding socially. come and join us at selkentmrc@gmail.com
  16. These can be bought now at a number of exhibitions - where with pride and stamp out the violence
  17. your going home in a 1/72 scale Ambulance Yeah right! If I wanna say 1/72 scale, what's wrong with that! You Oxford Diecast boys think you know it all, you no nuffink! I wanna put a Airfix 1/72 scale ambulance on me layout..... try and stop me. If You got a problem, I will be manning the door at the Bexleyheath exhibition in Dec, we can take it outside (however not between noon and 12.30pm as I will helping to serve exhibitors lunches). I will have back up also as Southwark MRC are exhibiting and they near Millwall ground and 'no one likes them but they don't care' and they always come tooled up.
  18. Your going home in a 1:72 scale ambulance
  19. EM EM EM who are yeah, who are yeah!
  20. I own one of the only 'Russian' exhibition layouts on the circuit at present , so am beefing up security around it. lol
  21. Why can't VIOLENCE be taken out of Model Railway clubs. Less then a hour to go before a exhibition opened last week and already a fight has kicked off outside between rival model railway clubs. I know there is Massive gang rivalry in the hobby, and now we are getting clubs coming over from Europe just to fight. if you think English Model Railway fans are bad, the German Ho9 gauge lot are really giving the hobby a bad name. Please guys, think, this weekend leave the modelling knife at home and don't pack snooker balls in socks when you go to a exhibition. Let's return the hobby to a family friendly experience and not go back to the dark days of the 80's, which nearly got many model railway exhibitions banned. lol
  22. Updated layouts and traders attending with SouthEast Models and plus daughters added. We have had a drop out due to a wedding commitment so now have a space for a layout up to 16ft, so watch this space. Tickets can be pre bought at a reduced cost for this show and also gets you into the exhibition before the official opening time
