  1. Hence the sharp increase in costs. Just hope it's not on a day that's your birthday as you have to bring cakes in; no cheap Battenburg either!
  2. I suppose I should be thankful for the honesty but, ultimately, that says what you think we're all worth. You've just trebled the cost if you think I'll be holding ongoing committee meetings. I don't that's a realistic expectation.
  3. As a member said to me on Sunday "You seem a lot grumpier recently", I agreed and replied "Is it any ******* wonder"? All in good humour from both sides. This and another topic demonstrate why.
  4. And that's why we have a fat opera singer flogging us insurance, Barry Scott and his Cillit Bang and the rest of the toe-curling stuff between telly stuff. The worse it appears the better it performs. Bloody bingo ads!
  5. Evidence (via the bid values for ad slots) shows that the more obtrusive an ad is the more an advertiser will pay to occupy it. The worst place to be sitting in this right in the middle!
  6. Only a few savvy traders get that. Some just don't see the benefit in online exposure (so they don't care that much about your content really) and some don't do it because they don't like the site. Your utopian approach would suit me but it just doesn't balance the books. Sadly, your points are then arbitrary.
  7. Before grumbling at least please stop for a minute to think what you've had and still get for nothing?
  8. I don't think you're too far off the mark Tony but we'd have to do a lot of number-crunching to get the right figure and balance. This is why there's a lot of testing going on to determine values and behaviour.
  9. I'm pleased someone else is mindful of this too. Beyond the 'internet is free' mindset there is a widespread ignorance of the resources it uses; Facebook with server farms in the Arctic Circle; an abundance of power requirements to stream movies onto the telly, electrically charged clouds, satellites that will one day be placed over every body on the planet (they get up there with fairy dust of course) and so on. It's a hidden polluter and it'll become a priority problem at some point.
  10. OK; how much would you feel comfortable paying to have ad-free access?
  11. The link was an old one as a new sign-up process is in place following the addition of more benefits. The link has been amended and you should end up here https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/membership
  12. Please refer to the existing Advertising topic in this subforum.
  13. Have a read of the lubrication instructions that are in the instruction leaflet that was in the box.
  14. I took that out because it referenced a potential outcome because of the nature of the other posts.
  15. Because the system assumes you are aware that you have posted in your own topic and don't need to be made aware of an additional posting.
  16. I've seen the press preview now and it's an enjoyable view if you can forgive some of the liberties taken with 'near enough' for some clips in some of the editing. It's nice to see the wider team featuring including Phil and Ed on the design side as the first episode focuses on the development of the Dublo Merchant Navy; by the magic of telly it seems to jump from one stage to the next very quickly when we know it's not like that. Callum @SDJR7F88 features quite a bit with his modelmaking and shows how he does his videos with a blend of prototype sound which is worth seeing. I was so chuffed to see Invicta Models in Sidcup featuring too; there was someone who looked just like Kerry on there but it couldn't be 'cos she didn't swear once. Nice light telly for the masses which won't do anyone any harm.
  17. Yeah, noticed there was a lot of subliminal temptation yesterday. Then the 78xxx spoiled the party, I do like that loco though.
  18. Wholly irrelevant or is RMweb to blame for the fuel shortage?
  19. What an excellent day that was by Bachmann. We spent a lot of time outside with Steve, Nomi and Moose (which is incredibly good fun to drive). After lunch we had a good catch up with many of the team in the marquee after the ample hoardes had finished grazing. There were still some very good bargains to be had and a far more convivial atmosphere than Warley with the added bonus of regular steam service interruptions and the 48 and ratty 20 outside. Really, really enjoyable; thanks to all.
  20. Those ads pay for you to access the site for free. Comments like that just get my back up but I guess you thought you'd give us the wisdom of your opinion.
