  1. You raise a good point; maybe a family could only afford the tickets. However most observed are males of a certain age with a rucksack and an expensive camera.
  2. I 'm *sure* it's not just people in this hobby but... Unless someone has a dietary requirement I don't like people who take their own sandwiches to shows, especially when the club's doing the catering and I don't like people who munch their own sandwiches on heritage trains. It's just rude and mean-spirited.
  3. Glad they're appearing in the wild now. When I did the review for the mag I only had space to hang 23 Mk1 coaches behind it; anyone fancy taking up the challenge to beat that? Photo/video evidence required of course and a bonus point if you see how many you can get it to move on speed step 1 of 126 on DCC.
  4. Turn the volume down; you're only making yourself look daft.
  5. It's a bit of an administrative headache Neal but we will discuss further and see if there is a way; failing that it should be good enough value as an additional.
  6. Not as bad as the ones who still keep starting off yet another topic (or status update) because they don't even look down the subforums list of topics or at the other ones I've closed off and directed to here. And the PMs, emails and Contact Us messages. I'm getting to the point where I just ignore the latters as they all take time to respond to. I know that indicates there is wider dissatisfaction with the situation but we will be doing something in addition to the existing solution. Many of the ones who moan, particularly those who do in vehement tones, probably never will pay to have ad-free usage as they won't see why they should be subjected to advertising; they think being arsey is the solution. The majority, however, just accept the situation (or will wait until there's the right solution) and don't jump up and down for which I thank the silent majority.
  7. Don't worry, we'll soon have a solution to help you spend something with us.
  8. Have you logged into this page Robin? https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/store/membership-subscriptions It then ties up your account, removes the ads and polishes your halo for you.
  9. It seems to affect some iPads, we've been unable to replicate it but the only advice we can offer is to check your device is running the latest iOS. We have queried it with the privacy software provider and await a response as we think there's a glitch between an update from them and/or Apple.
  10. We have previously said we wouldn't be holding Peterborough this year. Doncaster in February and Ally Pally in March will be going ahead (pending the obvious). The virtual show will bring many features we can't do at a physical event so everyone wins. We've already been out and about filming some content and there's much more to do yet.
  11. What's the intent of purpose of that statement please?
  12. BRITAIN’S BIGGEST VIRTUAL MODEL RAILWAY SHOW RETURNS! Back by popular demand, we’re delighted to announce that the next instalment of our #BigWORshow event will take place this winter, across the weekend of December 4-5, 2021. Now well established, the World of Railways Virtual Exhibition is hugely popular, drawing more visitors than any model railway show in the UK, and this event is set to be our most entertaining yet! Like before, the #BigWORshow will feature a compelling selection of fantastic layouts created by talented modellers. The exhibits will feature N, 2FS, 3mm, OO, EM, and O scales, with something for all tastes! Popular features that made the previous show a success will remain, including our live feed, which will be populated with new content at least every 10 minutes! There’ll be competitions galore across the two days, practical demonstrations from well-respected modellers, interviews with some of the biggest names in the hobby, and much more. We’re really excited to welcome everyone to our official opening on Saturday, December 4 at 09:30 GMT for two days of fantastic model railway entertainment and exciting challenges – don't forget to tell your friends. It’s a weekend not to be missed. If you haven’t done so already, pop the date in your diary, subscribe to our weekly newsletter and follow our social channels. Stay tuned as we reveal more exciting details soon!
  13. Sorry Clive, I had no wish to interrupt your topic but I won't sit back and be insulted.
  14. Thank you, as far as I understand any payment would be due when an ad e.g Sky, which I have seen a lot, has started playing after the turtle/giraffe/cruise ship interlude.
  15. Taking criticism should not be the same as sitting quiet whilst you are being insulted, that's the same as racism or sexism. Doing yourself proud there.
  16. You said it but, it's fair to say, I find some of your inferences personally offensive. I will put it down to your ignorance of realities and practicalities.
  17. Just mentioning 'the Church' isn't a breach. It's harder to deal with Zealots from Swindon. A self-fulfilling prophecy for baiting me.
  18. I've not seen any evidence of that. Nor do we see any mirrored or reversed shots which afflicted Portillo's programme for a while. This series films things very much as they are, even if they do overuse irrelevant cutaways on occasion.
  19. Although mine was a bit late Steve I'd have thought they should all be out by now. Call the subs office in the morning and they'll get another sent out. The number's on the Contents page.
  20. You will see plenty of content on various layouts which aren't Hornby at different points.
  21. I have seen a brief glimpse of your work in it Pete which I'm really looking forward to seeing in due course. Yes, the end of Episode 3 says what you can see next in Episode 2; confused? You will be.
  22. The Captain has taught you proper good, you wear the mantle well.
  23. Fear not; you get name-checked in Episode 3. :p
  24. So, it wasn't a day ago (otherwise I'd have included it in the screenshot). I've taken a look at the post - 10.36 not 10.27 (and removed it only because of one phrase). Therefore your assertion of my bias is incorrect in this instance and an apology wouldn't go amiss for that. You would have grounds to say that if I said what I actually thought about some individuals in public roles where no benefit of hindsight was needed to see what they were doing and why. I have respect and disrespect for individuals on both sides of the house - take that as you see fit.
