  1. Agree, no difference in haulage terms but what i was less enamoured with was the very early Peak release where the inner axle on each bogie was un-powered, but IIRC, had a spring arrangement inside it that tended to cause the bogie to tip back and rock and cause derailments, I'm going back a good few years though when Bachmann released the Class 44. I think the 40 used the same drive method back then to.
  2. Thanks, fellas, confirmed what I suspected.
  3. Hello all, I did a search on this but couldn't find anything. Is the Class 45 marker light version still using the 2 axle drive bogie?
  4. I apologise in advance as I suspect this has already been answered, but will these be offered in flat bottom rail in due course?? I realise they will have more challenges in the manufacturing process, more planing of rail etc.
  5. Ive wondered on a few occasions, could it have been possible to model this part of the loco using purely an etched part portraying them 'open' as they are 'most' of the time when the loco is under power??
  6. I don't normally struggle when it comes to abbreviations etc, but "SFX"??? Presumably sound fitted something or other??
  7. The million dollar question! Tints and fans aside, is the new 47 worth the extra dosh over the one that went before??
  8. We call it 'a point end' where I work (NR, Plymouth P-way). A crossover would be termed the A-end or the B-end, (A-end normally closest to the controlling box)
  9. Well , Ive arrived late to this thread!! First abit of background. One time owner of an EM gauge layout built entirely of C&L, hand built switches and crossings, that layout unfortunately is now defunct (15 years ago). I then built an American outline H0 layout that has lasted 14 years, now getting itchy feet and need something new! This is where I get to the 'point'. I want to model British practise again but the RTR track on offer leaves me cold. I work for a living on the real thing and it makes you very fussy on how model track should look, that's another reason why the H0 layout has fallen by the wayside! Sure, I could go the handbuilt route in H0 but I've been there before, there are more interesting things to be doing. The Peco Bullhead offerings are a start but expensive etc. So, having looked through these pages, this is exactly what I've been looking for, handbuilt but without the faff and this looks absolutely excellent!! Well done, Wayne! Not sure when, hopefully soon, I will be making an order for your point kits. Thank you for bringing it to the market!
  10. I was impressed on the whole but couldnt help but notice the windscreens when they catch the light, they look all bumpy/uneven due to the 'tint' they've applied and it detracted from the model, atleast in my eyes. Cant help but wish they'd left out the tint gimmic as things like that rarely scale well on a model anyway.
  11. Putting my head above the parapet here, seeing as we now have a decent 0 gauge version, I would like to see a 50 bought up to Acurascale standard, we've yet to get a 00 scale version of the correct shape and after it was first tried by Lima circa 40 years ago! Abit overdue.
  12. Its a cracking looking model. Constructive criticism incoming. What does stand out to me is the half moulded brake cylinders on the bogies, American manufacturers have these as separately fitted, full relief details, it makes so much difference, especially if they went to all that trouble of making a decent undeframe. Bachmann did the same on their 85 and it looks naff.
  13. I've been spoiling for a Heljan 25/3 all this week, shall I or not, looking at pics online from the Rails, Hattons etc. Think Ill bin that idea now!
  14. Look at the nose shape of that!!! Absolutely spot-on and a fantastic achievement that nobody's managed before now. I can still remember being lambasted on this board for criticising Bachmann's effort. "there's nothing wrong with it" I was told. How times change.

    EBay madness

Can anyone shed any light on what this guy is selling?? Seemingly lots of 'unused' Heljan O gauge although I'm not sure what a 'Class 200 49' is exactly, or a 'Class 200 54' etc etc. I have asked, twice , but I get no answer!! Seems a strange way to conduct business! https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/fmc31/m.html?item=114314390572&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  16. I like it, alot! Tone down the rivets around the windscreen frames (they nearly invisible under coats of paint) and it'll be even better!
  17. Purely out of interest, did they correct the problem with the roofs on these 33's??
  18. To my eye, it looks to be an improvement!

  20. Thanks Brian, Ive now sent him a message! I did notice he had some for 009 a few weeks ago, should have bought them then but kept putting it off. Probably more chance there than anywhere else at the moment, so fingers crossed.
  21. Some years ago now, alot actually, I was also abit of an audiophile and Ive spent thousands of pounds over the years on hi fidelity / quality gear like amps and speakers. Al though Ive dabbled in DCC sound for the last 12 years, I am sometimes left underwhelmed when it comes to sound in 00 or H0 models- however! A few months ago, I discovered the sounds of Legoman Biffo and the EM2 speaker, coupled with Lok sounds 'drive lock' feature, all that underwhelming-ness was about to change. Equipped with a pair of DCC ready Bachmann 37's and my small milling machine, I set to work and this is the result- Now, Im going on a theory that could turn out to be correct or wrong, but the speaker in that Deltic above looks very much like an EM2, by my reckoning, the Accurascale Deltic will be an absolute beast in the sound department. They are not messing about with this!
  22. Where can I get Class 50 0 gauge nameplates from guys? Brian/Shawplan seem impossible to get hold of (email or phone) - plus, don't fancy a trip halfway across the country to an exibition for a tenners worth of nameplates if I'm honest and that'll be in 2021 anyway! Fox seem to be out of stock on 90% of them.
  23. Can I ask please, what is the projected delivery date for the 24/1? I know its already been quoted here but I don't fancy trawling through dozens of pages to find it! Thank you chaps.
  24. Hmm, I'm after a pair of 7 mm name plates. Looks like it maybe a challenge!
