  1. Hi All, It will be interesting to see what Bachmann comes up with this year. Hornby has uped it's game & produced some good stuff with the likes of the APT & class 91 & others yet to appear from their 2020 anouncements & now there are there 2021 models recently announced. Cavalex & Accurascale & chipping away at market share with some fantastic items & even though they don’t have any products in direct competition, people's budgets are another consideration. Don't get me wrong, there has been some great stuff from Bachmann over the last couple of years and examples that spring to mind are the class 158 & Ransomes & Rapier crane. I am sure there are others too. Interesting times for sure. Stay Safe.
  2. Hi All, I have to agree, these look superb & will follow on from their previous successes. As before, get 'em while you can, as once they are gone, they are gone or at least until another rerun.
  3. Hi All, I see Heljan are planning to release another Dutch liveried 33/0 example in a weathered condition with 'name plates & crest removed'. I believe this is a great idea, however inevitably it will come down to the execution. If anyone is interested the Model No is 3458 with Running No. 33,025.
  4. Hi All, Compliments of the season to you all. Here is my de-branded ScotRail 47.706 ahead a rake of Mk 2 coaches in the colourful Network South East livery waiting to depart platform 2 with the 19.07 to the South West as a Crompton trundles through platform 3 with a cement train heading towards the Capital...... Enjoy.
  5. Hi All, Compliments off the season to you all. I finally got my hands on my Heljan Class 33 & ran it today at the head of a rake of weathered Accurascale Rugby cement wagons. An impressive sight to behold! Enjoy.
  6. Hi All, Just wanted acknowledge these fantastic posts throughout this month. They have brought back so many great memories. Pure nostalgia. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas.
  7. Hi All, Class 56's for me. As Cazrail suggested a Transrail Dutch version would be good. As would a blue version, a large logo blue variant. Then there is sub-sector Construction (lovely at the head of a rake of Redland hoppers)......
  8. Hi All, i missed out on the recently released 33,012 in weathered (faded) blue livery. At the time I was more interested in the weathered construction sub-sector 33,042 variant so acquired one of these instead. Over the last few months I have been on the look out for 33,012 as I have a rake Rugby cement hoppers which I know it will look just great at the head of, but sourcing the loco was becoming quite difficult....... The good news was, a certain large retailer in the North West came up trumps with a pre-owned variant that was unused. I ordered this on Monday & it arrived later this week. Today, was the first chance I had to 'chip this' & I had an old Hornby 8 pin chip so used this & she runs like a dream. It was also interesting to note that the loco pulled away on speed setting 2 on my Gaugmesater Prodigy advance 2 handset which compared to my other Heljan loco's is quite different as traditionally these have quite a large draw. The only disappointment - it s now wrapped up & under the Christmas tree so I won't have the opportunity to properly run this until after the 25th. Oh well, certainly something to look forward to.
  9. Hi zarniwhoop, Apologies if I missed the key dimension @ 1m as I joined the conversation part way through. The girder bridge I made measures only 400mm so clearly more than one would be required if anyone decided to go forward with this & I agree, making a rigid bridge deck would be a challenge, especially to make it look realistic. On reflection, this type of girder bridge would not be the most protypical or practical solution. i did some research myself & found some prototypical images that helped me create my bridge so I am familiar with this. Note to self - must read from the beginning!
  10. Hi All, What about 2 girder bridges end to end? I have recently bought a laser cut mdf kit (for £12) from a well known auction website that I put together with PVA glue & then painted, weathered & sceniced. Came out really well. All remains is for me to install it on the layout (which will be next weekends job).
  11. Hi All, After my earlier post on 18th November, I reached out to Dapol via email looking for an update on these wagons. I half expected a response along the lines of "Thank you for your enquiry, we are hoping to advise on an update shortly". However, the silence is deafening....
  12. Hi All, I can only endorse what others have said previously. These items are an excellent addition to your layout. I was particularly interested in the trolleys so ordered these a few other products. I have now painted them up & they look really good. Well recommended.
  13. Hi All, Yep I saw this too. I got myself a brace of NSE snow ploughs & another Warwell. Looking forward to receiving these & getting them weathered up.
  14. Hi All, It has been confirmed above that additional models will be produced of the BBA in bauxite & also EWS liveries. Now what would be great is if the Railfreight livery of red & black was also produced but this time with a different running number.
  15. Hi All, Hornby's release date for the APT was originally scheduled for late this year. it would be understandable if this has slipped a little, but can anyone confirm the updated release date? I was going to contact Hornby direct but thought I would ask here first in class anyone else has already done this. Thks in advance.
  16. Hi All, Any update on when these wagons will be available? Will they be available prior to Xmas?
  17. Hi All, So 6 weeks today the 'big man' will be making his entrance down the chimney. Question is, will he have these Dapol wagons? Any update on when these can be expected as they must be imminent.....
  18. Hi, Thank you for your response. I guess as you say, there maybe some physical limitation preventing the 6 pairs of cables going into the linker plug. The only way to find out is to give it a go - but I wasn't sure if wiring 6 lights into this plug (if it is possible) would have an impact on the lights themselves.... Anyhow, I have attached a nocturnal image showing the lights on part of my layout. Really transform the look. Enjoy.
  19. Hi All, Reference the Just Plug lighting system. I have installed all sorts of lights on my 00 gauge layout including lights in my station building, offices, signal box, plate layers hut etc etc. These have required the appropriate expansion packs & in some cases extension leads. It really is very easy to install & literally 'plug & play' albeit at a cost. I have this week ordered the 3 street light pack - JP5677. These are ideal as the 3 light's cables come together into one connector which in turn a single cable will plug into my last remaining port. On reflection, maybe a second pack of the 3 street lights are required...... I don't want to purchase another expansion pack or similar, so the question I have is can I wire up all 6 lights (instead of the original 3) into the connector so that in turn the one single cable would light up all the 6 street lights. Has anyone done this? Feedback appreciated on this. Stay Safe people.
  20. Hi All, Look what turned up today..... I have had my eye on one of these Kernow class 47 for some time, however my budget has been required elsewhere on more ‘essential’ items for the layout. Well if you don’t have a baseboard you can’t run anything! Anyhow, yesterday afternoon I placed my order & less than 24hrs later, a knock at the door & the postman had a parcel for me. Superb service - thank you Kernow. And the loco? Outstanding! Highly recommended. The distressing on the class 47 is incredible. If you are considering this loco & are unsure, I can certainly recommend this.

  22. Hi Darryl, That is indeed 59,002 in the background & I have attached an image that I took again in Aug 2090 at the Old Oak Common open day showing this loco in the Mendip Rail livery. Perhaps a thought for a second run for Dapol & their class 59..... Same disclaimer applies - photo of a photo. Enjoy.
  23. Hi All, Like others have noted here, I am dissapointed by this decision by Hatton's. I had one on order (the BB Rail variant) & was eyeing a second in the original all over yellow livery as well. Perhaps, Hatton's could of increased awareness of the situation before making this decision. Hopefully, this will be a 'postponement' not a 'cancellation'.
  24. Hi Darryl, This conversation was concerning the Foster Yeoman liveries as applied to the O. & K. Hopper wagons as Dapol are bringing 2 versions out next month. I was looking for clarification on the time lines specifically when the re-livery was applied. i have established this to be in 1998 for the class 59’s & assumed the wagons were done at a similar time when Mendip Rail took over although, happy to be corrected on this. As an aside, I have attached an image from a class 59,005 (which was one of the first to be re-branded in the revised Yeoman livery) that I took at the Old Oak Common open day back in Aug 2000 . This shows this new re-paint which matches my earlier post showing a similar liveried JHA wagon. Again not a great quality image so apologies in advance. Hope this clarifies the situation. Stay Safe.
  25. Hi All, Thanks for the information & I am sure people will find this informative. Personally, I have previously looked on Google & although images can be found, putting a precise timeline on the re-livery of these wagons proved inconclusive. I have just had a look on Flickr & can only see images of the class 59 or other Yeoman wagon variants - Doh! Anyhow, through my investigation, I have determined which version of the Dapol wagon is best suited to my time lines so have placed my order. Stay Safe people & thanks again to Lyneux & Roy.
