  1. When I had an issue recently the eBay agent said I would be called back - I received the call back at 3.30am in the morning. Their call centre hadn't a clue about the local time in the UK! (Still waiting to hear back about the complaint I raised). I had a 50% off fees offer last weekend - the small print says: ..."Applies to final value fees on up to 100 listings. Item must sell within the first listing period. No insertion fees apply. Private sellers activated on managed payments only. Offer excludes the 30p order fee for private sellers activated to managed payments."... I assume that the offer only applies for the first month now that fixed price listings are "Good 'Til Cancelled". But it's still worth cancelling any existing listings you have (if the fees are higher) and re-listing them using the offer.
  2. There is a lot of information on the NGRM site under "Comparison Between Kato 11-103 & 11-109"
  3. I know the 20% off eBay coupon has been mentioned before, but just in case it ends shortly South Devon Railway have over the last few weeks added a number of new items: for example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3707-Ruston-Hornsby-48DS-Queen-Anne-Longmorn-Distillery-with-Wagon/383653207692?hash=item5953835e8c:g:b0AAAOSwCQJfIB-i having a quick look back on earlier posts this seems to be about the lowest price it has been (£57.59 + post). Certainly I was very pleased with my 009 purchase a couple of weeks ago: the GVT Baldwin - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-391-029-Baldwin-Class-10-12-D-4-6-0T-Glyn-Valley-Tramway-Lined/383630064928 at £107.99 + post. Still four versions available! Have a search through their other items - most of them have the 20% coupon offer.
  4. I also ordered a Hornby Rocket yesterday (Friday) just before 1pm, it arrived a short while ago at 4.10pm (Saturday) with the postman. I have ordered items now twice this month on a Friday from Bure Valley Models and received the items the next day. Always nicely packed and a good price. Five Star Service. Fantastic service compared with the other item in the post, which was ordered from another well known model shop nine days ago at a shipping cost of £3.95 - it was sent in a large letter envelope for around a pound.
  5. Over the last few years the Post Office around here (North Derbyshire) has expanded it's opening hours by having more small newsagents/shops take on the role. I notice that there is a Post Office at Farnworth (100 Derby Road, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 9LQ) which offers opening hours of 7am to 8pm, seven days a week. Their hours may be reduced at present (our village Post Office is usually 7am to 9pm - but now shuts at 6pm), but the chances are that they are open much longer than the town centre one. I don't know your area - but it may be worth checking them out.
  6. A quick google search: https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/lx183-oo-3ft-chain-link-fencing-oo4mm176-1876-p.asp https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/lx007-oo-laser-cut-chain-link-security-fencing-oo4mm176-1211-p.asp https://www.scalelinkfretcetera.co.uk/product/slf084/ https://www.howardscenicsupplies.co.uk/ancorton-models-security-fencing-with-barb-wire-top-laser-cut-00/ https://www.howardscenicsupplies.co.uk/busch-6019-wire-mesh-fence-00-ho-gauge-model-kit/ https://www.howardscenicsupplies.co.uk/faller-180414-wire-mesh-fence-with-poles-00-ho/ https://www.track-shack.com/acatalog/Peco-Ratio-436-OO-Scale-Security-Fencing-Kit-Peco-Ratio-RT-436.html Andrew
  7. Hi, The collection looks to be in good condition and the loco appears to be clean. These are whitemetal kits: Gem make a Varikit for the Minitrix chassis: https://dundasmodels.co.uk/webstore/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-module-108/product/5333-varikit-version-b-0-6-0-loco-body-kit-requires-minitrix-0-6-0-dock-tank-chassis Mosskito make this (but out of stock): https://dundasmodels.co.uk/webstore/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-module-108/product/5676-whr-kerr-stuart-diesel-0-6-0-loco-body-kit-out-of-stock I'm not sure what 3D printed kits/bodies there are. The 009 Society second hand sales often has these kits (well worth joining the society and adding your name to the sales list emails). Or try to get to a show that they are attending - Narrow gauge North next weekend. Andrew
  8. Is it just me but where is "In order to receive your BRM discount, you need to enter your subscriber number prefixed with D20 in the promotion code box on the next page." I'm just asked to pay - no sign of a promotion box.
  9. The GE12 Power Supply for the Minitrains Controller 9000 says Input 100-240V- , 50-60Hz, 0.4A. Output: 12V---1A
  10. It looks as if Dundas Models has stock: https://dundasmodels.co.uk/webstore/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-module-108/product/5675-motor-rail-simplex-war-department-40-hp-petrol-tractor-out-of-stock
  11. There are some available in the woodlands scenics range: https://www.Bachmann.co.uk/product-category/woodland-scenics/accessories-snow/
  12. Have a look on Shapeways, for example: https://www.shapeways.com/product/XM825EYS4/009-motor-rail-simplex-body?optionId=64169223&li=marketplace You could create a static models in the short term. Remember that the Portram trams have two motor units.
  13. Hi Iain, Narrow Planet offer some L&B styles... https://shop.narrowplanet.co.uk/collections/components/products/npc-016 Andrew
  14. I doubt if many exhibition venues would have a suitable licence and you would be responsible for obtaining one yourself - I think once you have seen the cost you won't bother.... https://www.prsformusic.com/licences
  15. Really Useful Boxes make a range of different size storage boxes which are ideal for storing scenic modules long-term, no matter what scale you choose there is no reason why you can't do some modelling and put whatever you make away to be used once you go ahead with the final model. http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/onlineshop/fullrange_rub.php In the meantime it may be worthwhile planning out a potential layout in both 4mm and 7mm and looking at the space that will be required - it might help you to choose, the same way as choosing between N gauge and OO.
  16. The listing for 9952 on the Dundas Models site says "RELEASE IS EXPECTED APRIL/MAY 2018". https://dundasmodels.co.uk/webstore/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-module-108/category/499-Heljan-ready-to-run-models
  17. The shutters have been down every time I have passed over the last couple of years (driven past a dozen or so times). There was a time a few years ago that the shutters would be up and knocking on the door would get you in - it looked as if nothing had been touched for years! Looks like eBay is the current outlet for any remaining stock - he says he has moved onto other hobbies. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KATO-Japanese-10-229-82-Series-Kiha-6-Car-Diesel-MU-Set-DCC-Ready-Brand-New/271240404085?hash=item3f27301c75:m:mG0Id6X-37qog-tkebGk3Ag
  18. I see that the new Bunnings Warehouses have a timber cutting service, if you have one in your area it may be worth a phone call to see what sheet materials they offer.
  19. We've just bought some cakes in "Panera Bread" and were given a really strong cake box - the only issue ... it measures 9.25" x 9.25" x 4" - so it's now in the bin!
  20. Hi Craig, We're also off there soon and I've been looking without much success. I know that the trip to the local shop(s) is not worthwhile from previous holidays. I found this site: https://www.railserve.com/events/train_shows.html and they list the shows/fairs etc. Most of the Florida entries I've seen have been the wrong dates for us or too far away. I don't know if this one is any good for you: 61st Florida Rail Fair Saturday, October 7, 2017 Volusia County Fairgrounds DeLand, FL and I've got no idea what would be there! However, there seems to be a good number of entries for Florida. Andrew
  21. My subscription copy was delivered at 6pm this evening by the postman, not the first time recently that our post has been after 5pm.
  22. http://www.radiocaroline.co.uk Currently there is a choice between their Album channel or the Flashback channel (60s & 70s) on the internet. Caroline North returns most months via Manx Radio 1368 or the internet for usually the last weekend. I tend to switch between the channels depending on the DJ - it's nice to hear music that most other stations seldom play and with few ads. Radio Caroline has been granted an AM licence by Ofcom and will soon be back on 648kHz, covering Essex and Suffolk.
