So will I, provided that the manufacturers in question don't ignore constructive feedback, or decline available expert research.

This debacle was completely avoidable, but the producer chose to press on regardless. The negative comment here is a direct consequence of that decision.

Please note that I make this post in the capacity of a model railway product producer of some 23 years experience; research is the key to a successful product.

  2. Hopefully one day they will do a 11351/1R with the short roof pod to enable one of United’s earlier Nationals to be accurately modelled for the first time, although I am told United’s crews preferred the Bristol RE and regarded it as a far superior vehicle. United carried on buying REs right up to the end of RE production and didn’t take their first Nationals until 1976.

I would expect news in the next Bachmann Times and Summer announcement.

It's due in the next week or two. Beginning of May I think.

    Great news! Wow!

Thanks for all the compliments, appreciated. I meant to post a picture of the Motor Brake Second as well. So here it is. Please note that the pantograph isn't quite right and I've yet to sort out the roof detail. Just having a difficulty in sorting the parts for this.

TMC advised me today that it would be “some time this year but there is no definite date yet” so it’s going to be a while by the sound of things. Gives me time to save up for payment.

As it’s a year since I posted this I was just wondering what progress there has been, can TMC update us please?  I appreciate its been a tough year, like.

  6. Just going back to the beginnings of this thread and the criticisms made then of Middlesbrough Football Club for using German steel in the construction of the Riverside Stadium. I am very surprised that those criticising on here are not aware that Middlesbrough Football Club was COMPELLED to buy that steel from Germany because of European Union competition rules.  I am quite certain that if the Club or its owner, Steve Gibson, who is a VERY proud Teessider, had had any choice in the matter they would have insisted on the steel for the stadium being made on Teesside but the fact Is that they had to buy it from the German tenderer, under strict EU competition laws. IT WAS THE LAW!

    Kr cant win really.

They get stick if they don't participate, and they get stick when they do.

Exactly this. There is a very small number of people on here who have just got it in for KR Models for some reason. I imagine they all look like Victor Meldrew

But  there are far more people out there who are satisfied GT3 Customers and/or supportive of KR’s Fell and other projects so that emphasises how totally irrelevant the Meldrews are.

I will be building a Judith Edge kit of the Fell. I want a well researched model which does bear a high level of accuracy due to the level of research undertaken in producing the kit. I know it goes together as a kit, it can pull decent trains and it goes around corners.

If KR had any sense they would have bought a kit..  it does contain a drawing of the loco. Mind you the information they received on  the GT3 ended up with mistakes being made on their model.

So far we have had little in the way of decent photos, no details on the drive training a less than perfect sound system. IF I had paid up front for one of these I would have expected more information. AS I haven't I didn't but saying its manufactured and on its way.. unseen..would be scary. If it is wrong or doesn't work will the buyers still fiddle around fixing it?  This has been the case with the GT3.

At least they haven't started selling it in BR Blue.

    Baz

KR’s Fell has already sold by the shedload, pal. I doubt KR, or anyone who has bought one, will be too bothered by what you think.

  9. Thanks for producing some very welcome bits and pieces over the last couple of years, the Clayton bonnets, J36 tender cab and 03 chimney were small but essential parts for me and you will be missed. Hope you can come back soon, in better family circumstances.

What do people think about retailers cashing in on the scarcity of these now?

When, a few months ago, I made a similar point about GT3s appearing on ebay at inflated prices I got in response the (expected) patronising lecture  in the economics of supply and demand from the regular blowhard on here, so stand by for incoming 828CC!

The car industry is a bad analogy….

They are suffering huge delays in components..

My neighbour went to buy a new car, (Mercedes) although the car advertised several onboard services, the car was delivered without them, due to lack of chips. The dealers response..shrug shoulders, take it or leave, with/without the price is the same, and they wont be retrofitted… They are struggling to get new cars delivered at all.

Things like this has seen my own car increase by more than £7k since 2020  due to shortage of components for new cars, and people are “walking away” to buy a second hand car with all the features.

I was planning a new car myself, but when I checked and confirmed above, I decided to hold another year.

You can bet cars will get chip supplies before model railways do.

Yep, a friend of mine sold her year-old Audi a few weeks ago for £5k more than she bought it new for.

I had advice from Hornby ten days ago that it was on its way, nothing since and nothing from DPD who apparently are delivering it. Has anyone received theirs by DPD yet and if so how long did it take from you being notified by Hornby to actually receiving it?

Thats a bit extreme its only 2 years.

the class 29 took around 7 years, the class 59 is heading into 6 years ( and the fully painted EP was 3 years ago), I ordered the steam railmotor 7 years ago.

I honestly cant see the current backlog being cleared in 2022.. theres simply too much and only so much factory space in China, so 2023/24 is a possibility for some stuff.

Not really extreme given my age and my declining health.

Yes, there are some on here who were very quick to rubbish KR after five minutes with absolutely no justification whatsoever for doing so. They should apologise to KR.
