  1. Good to see new footage. Got to love the way the DMU shrinks to a dot in the distance.
  2. Dont look too closely as she's just ripped her layout to bits! 🤣
  3. Absolutely... I spent a lot of time in real life on the bridge at the "left hand end" of HLJ, and that view on the model, with a yellow end just visible in the distance, is so "right"!
  4. It was "common as muck" to the Sands Lane spotter crew! Foind a nice photo on Flickr of B& O at HLJ.
  5. 4.30pm past Mirfield! We used to run up to Ravensthorpe and Thornhill after school to see it.The "half four dub", .. Then trudge home disappointed as it was "Bihar & Orissa" and a Brit.. Again!
  6. Oh they were tall! We lived near Mirfield, and you could see the lights from my bedroom window. I always thought it weird that they reused Farnleys shed code for HM. And, to be fair, Simons fiddleyard is near enough a marshalling yard!
  7. Just a point... Ive had brass section with some sort of coating. This stopppedv solder penetrating, and once heated, changed its composition or something and just sat there! No penetration or flow. I assume the blow torch totally blasts the stuff (if any is there) away. A 100W iron should cope... Have you tried an active flux, and also tinning the parts then sweating them together?
  8. That's bigger than our kitchen and living room put together! Luxury!
  9. Certainly plenty of (as far as I can see) positive Press and Media! It certainly cant harm, as its hopefully dispelled the "3 years to paint a Newsagent for the train set" mindset. Hoping to nip in again over weekend. Meantime, I've got a newsagent to paint!
  10. I've been messing with stats... A 4mm scale model of the model would take up 3/4 of my modest offering, at 800 mm long!
  11. Back home with a pot of Yorkshore Tea! Spent a fantastic few hours at HLJ. My (decidedly NON-railway) daughter also enjoyed it. She was happy to seek out the detailing, spot Thomas (she's 22(!)), and shake her head as I (most of the time) predicted what was comining out of the dive-under purely on exhaust note! Apart from a troublesome Cargowaggen deciding it wanted to sulk alone, everything ran beautifully, and I was once again that long-haired, motorcycle riding, 20 something standing on Woodend Bridge. Pure magic. Lovely to manage a quick chat with Simon, the whole experience does you a great credit Sir! Now... Dare I sneak out next weekend???
