  1. Dungrange, that's really good advice too. Maybe if I go for David's DCC wiring I will be future proofing the layout if I do go digital later. Thanks Milano
  2. David Many thanks for your reply. First of all excuse the track plan and bit wasn't drawn to scale. ( just fitted it into an A4 ) I will be using two loco's and DC only so your first diagram is fine. I had been thinking I would have needed IRJ's at the two left hand points as well. Again thanks for taking your time to respond to my question. Milano
  3. Folks I am building a small oo gauge shunting layout using Peco code 100 electrofrog points - 1 RH and 2 LH but need some help with the wiring of it. I am using DC gaugemaster combie controller. I have attached a copy of the track plan so can anyone tell me where to put the track feeds and the plastic rail joiners please. Many thanks Milano
  4. Folks i am using Das clay to create a road but just don't want to paint the surface black to represent tarmac so can anyone advice me how to get a realistic top coat. regards Milano
  5. Hi Can anyone tell me the overall length from coupler to coupler of either a Bachmann 03/04 please? Many thanks Milano
  6. Folks it been over a year since my last posting, during which I have downsized, moved twice and never did build a layout. I now find that I have time to start a layout but space is now a problem. I have a shelf that a layout could be sit ore don measuring 30" X 9" I do have some 00 gauge and a couple of Peco settrack points. Anybody have any througts for a trackplan. Milano
  7. Hopefully I have this question in the correct section. All, A work colleague of my wife knows that I am interested in model trains and asked her if I would Like a Bachmann EZ controller for free. I have no knowledge of them but would like to have a go at building a DCC layout as I have some locos DCC ready. I understand the Bachmann has very limited functions but I would be using if on an inglenook layout so is it worthwhile getting it? As an inglenook only uses two points is there much wiring required to get it DCC ready. Do you need to use insulated rail joiners or can metal ones be used on every rail? Maybe someone could provide a simple wiring diagram to help me. Sorry if the above questions have been asked before. Thanks Milano
  8. In recent weeks I have seen reference to z shaped layouts in oo gauge and have wondered what sort of operational protectial would be possible if used fro a small shunting layout? Are two locos required to move wagons and would boredom set in very quickly? Thanks Milano
  9. Colin , PM sent as I have given you an incorrect email address. Sorry. Milano
  10. Thanks all for your input and advice. I have been given some 5mm think plastic sheet that I may try and use. Milano
  11. Colin welcome to RMWeb. I was one the who started the topic as I am interested in building a very simulator one to yours. I have sent you a PM. Regards Milano
  12. Folks I have recently made a 12" long sector plate (00 gauge) from 5mm plywood and glue the track in place however tonight I have found that it has started to warp in the middle. Is this fixable or do I just start again? Milano
  13. All very useful information lads. Going to have a go with building a sector plate tonight. Milano
  14. Jim Many Many thanks for the track plan and measurements. I didn't realise that there was a hidden track as well. Hopefully I will get the baseboard made at the weekend and get some track down. Cheers Milano
  15. Yes Mark that's the one. Simple track plan even I could build it I hope. Just not sure about the sector plate. According to the article it will, take a loco and 1 wagon so it doesn't have to be that long. Thanks for the photos Marc. Milano
