  1. Hopefully not a working BSI coupler! Should read Tightlock coupler?!
  2. Surely changing the height presumably the ride height would need a lengthy certification process. Any technical details how this was achieved? The BREL series 3 bogie mounting components must have been impacted by the height changes?!
  3. Why would the height need to be changed?
  4. A very fine model indeed, sadly arrived with no windscreen fitted at one end. Have already been in contact with support to notify
  5. Indeed Bachmann did quite correct, the model they released in around 2001 has been out of production for some years now. Not a DCC ready chassis
  6. A DMU of some kind seems a good step one with a multitude of livery options to ensure maximum return on the tooling: Class 150 (Bachmann tooling around 14 years of age) Class 170 (No reasonable model currently available) Class 158 (Went head to head with Bachmann on the 37 and 55 locos, why not do it again)
  7. Put off buying more simply due to the poor running qualities on 3rd radius corners it slows down noticeably and seems to lack torque. Low speed control below par also. Shame as in terms of the detail it is quite reasonable
  8. Grey seating in the Northern version?

    Class 142

Would not surprise me if EFE release a 142 after the 143,144. It would make commercial sense due to the more numerous options.
  10. Do any of these exist that run correctly? Get constant wheel spin. Surely Bachmann tested these before the release!
  11. How are people finding the unit on third radius corners? Seems due to the light weight it struggles a little
  12. As Regional Railways seems to be selling out. A Provincial blue livery looks set to be a winner also and perhaps could even sustain multiple running numbers. Makes you think if EFE also have a 142 underway....
  13. Seems the Regional Railways version is selling fast despite the weathering. It is already sold out at Rails, would order immediately if you intend to buy.
  14. If it is an all new tooling why would the awful tension lock couplings be used?! The functional BSI addition would be an obvious addition. Based on the images seen it looks to be the Realtrack tooling with some small updates since the last release. Perhaps an NDA has been signed which would explain the current communication stance from the tooling owners.
  15. Class 101 in Regional Railways seems a good use of a production slot

    Class 142

Looking very good, the coupler on the front is the only drawback. Considering what Bachmann have done on the newer DMUs an elegant solution here would be preferred. Looking really crisp in terms of the detail though and captures the look for sure of the unit
  17. Will certainly get the WYPTE 158. They did venture quite a distance outside of West Yorkshire. Recall potentially late 92 one running from Wakefield Westgate to Holyhead. Also a few years later on more than a single occasion they worked Man Airport to Cleethorpes. They did get around at times.
  18. Would be nice if Bachmann dust off the vast collection of cobwebs that must be on the 158 tooling
  19. When was the last image you seen of the prototype with shiny toy like wheels? Can they not be toned down or painted, Bachmann seem to do a very good of this and appear to apply Matt paint to the sidewall
  20. Looks good, the missed areas of weathering on the wheels exposing the shiny toy like finish are not ideal though. Hopefully the production finished version will not suffer this
  21. Can any owners couple the two driving cars with the functional front coupler and show the gap? On the pre prod models it was a comically large gap
  22. Another disappointed customer at this end. Had issues with derailing over points and also it seemed to have a wobble especially on the front bogie. That was not the reason for returning though it was the several marks on the paint finish and what seemed like a scratch on the windscreen. Not opted for a replacement have gone directly for a refund. Was disappointed with the APT finished product and cancelled the pre order and now this...
  23. Interesting Alan, is this universal throughout the Farish range generally that 3 pole motors are used? Quite sure some of the old Farish locos had 5 pole motors advertised on the box. Is this down to cost that the 150 had a 3 pole unit?
  24. This is the front cowling I am referring to. Class 150 units were modified due to corrosion issues resulting from the cheap poor quality steel that BREL used. The modification alters the front appearance of the unit quite significantly
  25. Purchased 150135 in Provincial livery despite its accuracy issues, certainly nosier than earlier Farish 150 units, the cog wheels at the base of the powered bogie are white plastic and on earlier units were black plastic, so something has been changed. Interestingly the documentation supplied with this unit states it has a three pole motor, thought it would have been a five pole unit, was it on earlier releases? 150135 is modelled without CAB roof mounted aerial and with 'cutaway' front cowling which I am not convinced it ever carried and there is no photographic evidence it did. 150135 was amongst 150137 in that these units were some of the last to carry this livery until around late 1992 but it had the aerial when the cowling was modified. Another issue is the grey seating this is a work of fiction when Class 150\1 units were built the seating was multi coloured stripes and no Class 150 unit was built with grey seating like the 155 and 156 units were. Overall despite the accuracy issues to the prototype and noisy operation it is aside of these a nice model. Anyone else have noisy operation?
