  1. Fabulous. I visited Leuchars only once when on duty (my flying stations were C130 and Chinooks) and made sure to explore the remains of the embedded rails!
  2. No dramas Kieran - only learned myself recently!! Great work on that QGT. Bike is a nice and authentic touch - esp for Belfast docks.
  3. Delightful Kieran. What’s the source of the QGT? Quick technical point - the brown vans would be next to the loco, as they are vacuum fitted.
  4. What a little gem. Saw this at Calne show today. Most impressive.
  5. Now this is great. Look forward to seeing more. Totally get the incipient dereliction thing.
  6. Oh I like this. I have visited Bramley training area in Hants, which has fascinating remains of its railway system. The buildings look just right. As for the Lynx - fire/rescue training hulk? If I recall aright there was an old Sea King frame at Lyneham used for just that.
  7. That’s terrific. When are you posting pictures of the model?
  8. That’s a shame. Was a great shop with a good attitude. Used it occasionally when we lived in those parts.
  9. Just bought a J class drawing. I have used Paul’s work and it really helps the build process. Some of the plan view stuff can be simply printed off, stuck on brass or plastic sheet and cut round - gives you an instant ready to fit part. This is top notch work - recommended. No connection other than satisfied customer.
  10. Fabulous. With those green berets they must be Commando engineers….https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/corps-of-royal-engineers/24-commando-royal-engineers/
  11. Inspired by @Mikkel’s eating an elephant slowly, this is based on the real station at Enniskillen in western Ireland, this represents the bay platform where the privately owned cross-border Sligo Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway met the main Great Northern Railway, and it was the GN closure in Sep 1957 which finally did for the SLNC. The SLNCR was an Irish version of Col Stephens, running a shoestring service of railbus passenger services and ancient wagons shipping cattle. I have a long affection for it, as my family still farm along the old trackbed. Entire layout is only 4’ by about 1’6, scenic area being 2’ of that. LED lighting integrated into canopy with a diffuser screen. Cassette fed, with handbuilt track. Significant use of low relief to add depth. Rolling stock almost entirely scratch built. Despite small size I can replicate the entire working timetable, with every movement that would have featured in reality. I’m more of a stock builder than operator so that’s enough for me - allows scope to build new things and give them some exercise. Layout is designed to be viewed from the front - some of the reliefs look odd from other angles!
  12. Lovely stuff. Had a few runs behind the real Fenchurch last week - and saw Withyham box !
  13. Oh I do like this! Can hear the bees buzzing, steam escaping, and feel the gentle summer warmth…..
  14. Excellent- think James Hilton would be very happy to be associated with this!
  15. This is excellent. Amazing what you can fit in to such a space !
  16. Built a version myself - ‘Winslade’ - now sold. https://yourmodelrailway.net//forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=members-personal%2Fo-gauge-micro But back doing another 7mm micro now!
  17. SLNCR railbus A. Most difficult thing I have ever made!
  18. That’s just wonderful. I really really like this.
  19. No probs. @Castlefinn will have insights and opinion here which will be worth listening to.
