  10. I would really like to have a go at building one myself, I have never tried to build a signal before. It looks like the bracket truss is going to be the hardest part.
  11. Thanks, the photos are great. I am particularly interested in MW23 & 24. The interior of the signal box is also very interesting! Cheers Graham
  12. Hi Peter Just found your post. How have you got on with the signalling? I found your post after reading Allen Jackson’s book, Signalling and Signal Boxes along the LSWR, which as a good section on Marchwood. Have you see this book? The signal shown on the front cover is at Marchwood and is of the type I need for my layout. I was wondering if you had managed to find any details? Cheers Graham
  13. Jack The large pipe on the left hand side of the smoke box is aluminium rod bent to shape with a pipe flange cut from a sheet of paper. The other two brass valves are from left over parts from a M7 kit with brass wire going under the boiler. Similar parts can also be found in the Dapol Schools kit. Hope this helps. Graham
  14. It looks like you have to be members to buy stuff on their online shops!!!! Graham
  15. Is this tool still available please? Graham
  16. Hi, I have just bought a second hand track cleaning coach and would like to repaint it in dept. black but for the life of me I cannot see how to dismantle it for repainting!! Do you have any tips please? Cheers Graham
  17. Brilliant! Thanks very much. I just have to find my copy now!
  18. I am sure I can remember a really good article in BRM on the R1 0-6-0 tank locos. Does anyone know which issue it was in? Cheers Graham
  19. Soldering started really well, the two wires to the pickups on the front bogie are all done and tested OK. Then it all went wrong. The pickup plate and attached wire must be so old and brittle it all just fell apart!!!!! I have searched the internet for a new one but to no avail. So, I think I will have to make a new one myself.
  20. It has most probably been over 30 years since I have done something like this but it is a whole lot easier with all the tools you can get these days. I need to get the chassis done now as I want to see it run. This will entail a lot of practice with the soldering iron first!!! Graham
  21. Just a quick update. All painted now, the Auto Black acrylic spray dosen't look too bad. A few details and etched plates added. The plates are from Narrow Planet and are really good. The last photo is a spare body I have used for parts and to test the paint on. I have glazed the front windows with Deluxe Glue 'n' Glaze, I think it has worked quite well. Graham
  22. Hi Hugh I used the drawing in Ian Beattie's book. Graham
  23. I hope mine looks half as good as that when it is finished! Graham
