  1. It comes in at a scale 42 feet and is a window and door shorter than a Triang clerestory. The bogies are Parkside PA108, the former Ratio ex LNWR 8 footers
  2. I'll just leave this here.... MAIDSTONE UNITED ARE IN THE 5TH ROUND OF THE FA CUP!!!!!!!!!
  3. Introducing Nellie's big sister, Gertie! As you can see, she's a hefty girl 🫡
  4. LCDR T class? If so I'll be very interested in this as I have a half built one from a J72
  5. It is indeed on a Hornby 14xx chassis. So much easier than the Airfix version
  6. I see you went down the same track as me at one point 😁
  7. Went back into the cabinet in exactly the same condition as it came out. I know the price of that pack!! 😛
  8. 34 had her maiden run on the test track at work today and I'm pleased to say she ran quite well. I'll need to add as much weight in the boiler as possible next, but I couldn't resist posing 34 with a nice Hornby 4 wheel coach
  9. Hi Tony, 34's chassis is a pair of GBL 57xx chassis cut and shut. The smokebox and boiler are from a Mainline Dean Goods cut so the dome is closer to the front of the loco. The cab is from a GBL C class with scratchbuilt side overlay/tanks. The bunker is cut and shut from a pair of Wrenn/Hornby Dublo R1 bunkers. Hope this of use to you!
  10. Part kit, part static model, part scratchbuild, part RTR, ALL bodge! Ladles and Jellyspoons, and all those in between, I present not quite GWR 34!!!!! Obviously still in progress, but enough done that I can reveal it and all built while sporting these...
  11. No I haven't forgotten about this, I'm still waiting on moving into my new flat, plus it's been very busy at work. Instead, I've been finding bargains and doing some bodging and bashing of locos... My attempt at backdating a GBL static T9 with a working chassis under it A Hornby T9 which will also receive the backdating treatment A K's LNWR Webb Coal Tank I got from eBay as a non runner and was working nicely after 5 minutes in the shop! And finally my attempt at being inspired by GWR 34 having seen one on a layout at Ally Pally
  12. A K's Coal Tank advertised as a non runner for under £30. Under 5 minutes at the model shop I work in and it was a runner! I'll be backdating it into LNWR livery as I'm one of those weird pre grouping modellers 🤪
  13. Ahem, whoops!! An OO Works H class has accidentally found its way into my collection to be painted into a more suitable livery. I haven't forgotten about the layout, but work and an impending change in accommodation has put it on the back burner for the time being
  14. I have been quite tempted to put some 7' bogies under them, if I could get hold of some
  15. Yes, I have a book on Channel Island railways, which gave me the idea
  16. I've used one of these motors in a brass chassis with the Markits 3mm axle. The original axle needs some persuasion with a hammer and some Araldite was used to fix the final gear into place. The Airfix 4F wheels are a couple of mm too large so the loco ends up sitting too high...
  17. Here's my very late (and unfinished) contribution to a very entertaining thread Yer GBL T9 backdated with the smokebox from a knackered M7 body. While removing the smokebox it was obvious that it had been dropped as it ended up in three pieces! I then managed to find a white metal chassis suitable for a T9 with room for a backwards X04 motor. I had some suitable wheels in a spares tin along with a compatible gear and bunged it all together. Just need to add rods to the wheels now The tender is sitting on a set of Hornby T9 tender wheels, currently a different shade to the loco, but eventually it will be painted in Drummond green I have some Hornby T9 buffers and will be adding handrails as well as replacing the front step that broke off during plastic removal, never to be seen again!
