Best decoder for a Bachmann Pannier tank

  4. I am planning to convert an older Bachmann Pannier Tank to DCC, I am not sure if there is a certain type of DCC chip I should use as there is not much room for fitting it in. The other loco's I have chipped uses Hornby 8249 decoders. Would appreciate any help on this topic. Derek
  5. Thanks very much I DCC chipped it so I wanted to make sure nothing would happen when I switched magnets
  6. I have a very old Wrenn 2-6-4t loco with a vertical motor, I would like to replace the magnet with a new one as I have no way to recharge the magnet. So I would like to know if it matters which way the magnet goes in (ie N towards the motor or South towards motor? Thanks Derek
  7. Does anyone know if they make a Ringfield 5 pole upgrade motor for a Hornby 3 pole loco driven, I see they have a tender one but have not seen a loco driven yet Thanks
  8. I added tender pickups and wired them as you suggested and I am very happy with the outcome the tender pickups make the world of difference

    Thank You

  9. I have a 4-6-2 loco that I have fitted a DCC chip to but I also wanted to add tender pickups, not sure if the 2 wires should go to the chip or the motor or both your help would be appreciated. Derek
  10. Thanks Guys it seems like no body produces them in 00 scale I think I will have to look at plastic or buy a Hornby loco body to get them
  11. Can anyone tell me what type of buffers were used on the A4 mallard. I'm looking for some in 00 scale sprung buffers prefer metal over plastic. Thanks Derek
  12. Thank's I did google it and chose a shade that looked very good.
  13. Can anyone tell me what the RGB values are to match Railmatch 207 there is no way of ordering paint from UK as they won't ship it. I can find someone over hear that would match it. Thanks Derek
  14. Can anyone tell me if all 2-6-4t buffers were oval or did any have round buffers like the 2-6-2 and if they did, What size were they as I would presume they would be larger to avoid buffer locking. Thanks Derek
  15. Thanks for replying, I live in Canada and managed to get a bottle of Railmatch Acrylic BR Blue but I did not like the results (came out way to dark.) I had an old bottle of Enamel Railmatch BR Blue which I am now trying to match. Most hobby shops in Canada do not carry British railway colours and what hobby shops are left do not have scanners. I have 2 loco's ready and primed but no paint. I have tried to find out who would ship it for me but with no success. Derek Winnipeg Canada
  16. Trying to find a paint that matches Railmatch 321 1950's experimental blue or rail blue Railmatch or Pheonix do not ship overseas so I'm hoping to find another brand that would be close any help would be appreciated. Thanks Derek
  17. I am looking for the shade of blue that Phoenix paints produce P102 which I would buy from them but they cannot export it to Canada. I would try mixing it using Tamiya paint or Humbrol paint if I can get it. Does any one know what paints would make this colour? Thanks
  18. I want to repaint a couple of steam loco's in experimental blue for my Castle and King class loco's the only colours I can find is a rail blue or diesel blue . Can anyone tell what the actual paint colour was used? Thanks Derek
  19. I'm getting frustrated with markits I have always ordered parts from him and never had a problem till now I had asked for a quote on some items which I received within a few days that was May by the time I ordered them it was June I e-mailed my credit card info except no 3 digit number and asked him to let me know when he received it so I could send him the rest of the info. After a week I e-mailed him again still no response so I emailed him again still no response finally I phoned him and must of got him on a bad day any way I gave him my credit card info and the estimate he had given me which was 14.55 sterling includes shipping that is about 25 Cdn dollars I asked him if he would let me know when it ships now 3 weeks later I have not heard from him but when I received my bank statement the price was 51 cdn dollars and still waiting for items to see what as happened. Ordering should not be this complicated I love the products but will order from someone else. Derek MB Canada
  20. Thank You very much for your feedback I will use an 8 pin decoder. I have found a supplier that produces insulating bushes that fit the wrenn loco's. Cheers
  21. I have decided to convert all my wrenn loco's to DCC the first one's I want to do are 2 Castle class loco's however the chassis have been changed to Hornby but do not have the decoder installed. I also have one with the original wrenn chassis but all the wheels have been changed to finer profile. All will have sound added later and from what I have been told I should use a 4 pin decoder. Could anyone tell me what decoder to use for a castle class loco and would you still be able to add sound to it at a later date. Thanks Derek Winnipeg Canada
  22. Can anyone tell me what is the pipe and fittings that run down the right hand side of the loco at the handrail location and does any producer do a 4mm part for them Thanks Derek
  23. Thanks very much I will get on it and good look with your project
  24. Could any members tell me what springs, axleboxes and buffers where used on the short version of these wagons as I am trying to build a couple of them in 4mm. I have tried Dart Castings a few times but they are not returning emails and also who else would produce them, I appreciate any help that I receive. Thanks Derek Winnipeg Canada
