A good weekend with Depot Lane at the Nottingham MRS spring show. 9th & 10th March 2024. Lots of British Rail 1980’s action at the Depot.

Depot Lane is at the Kendal Model Railway Show this weekend 27th / 28th January 2024 . Lots of BR Blue late 70s, 80s.

More BR Blue action on Middleton Central at the Nottingham show.

Middleton Central is at the Nottingham model rail show 4th & 5th November.

Middleton Central has been progressing well with scratch built buildings for the backscene all now completed and fixed in position. Interior lighting has also been installed. Construction of platform canopy’s and station lighting has been completed. Other details include yard and street lamps.

Monday Club meeting 24.7.23. More progress with these two building’s. Dave has nearly finished this factory. Roof added with gutters and down pipes. This building needed finishing of with Roof slates added and sky light windows, also down pipes. Will be adding glazing and paint next week. Now that’s done it’s cuppa tea and biscuits time . Club meeting 10.7.23 progress update. Working on the centre baseboard, this week with some more low relief building construction. Slaters Embossed sheets was used for the latest factory building, with a mixture of windows to add interest, some lasercut and also some from Scale Model Innovations. A pitched roof is still to be added. Painting of details on the other building, shutter doors and canopy valance etc.

Club night 19.6.23 Painting and glazing the factory, progress update. Window frames and brick mortar painted. Grey primer sprayed onto the corrugated sheets area. The building is now glazed with a few smashed windows, and dry brush weathered, but still a few more details to add, so still not yet fixed to the backscene.

Monday Club meeting 29.5.23. Was a sunny day so we took the boards outside to paint the backscenes sky colour. The backscene details are coming along on the fiddle yard board, with the low relief factory nearly completed, adding drain pipes and vents etc. The DMU stabling sidings now have fuelling facilities, the tanks are made from an old drain pipe, with the loading area details from a Knightwing kit. Some modified Portacabins for the crew mess rooms and a new office building which is still under construction.

Club night 15.5.23 and a little more progress on Middleton Central. Started construction of a new factory building for the fiddle yard board. Made in the usual style of Slaters embossed brick sheets, and a cladded area using Plastruct sheets. Windows are from Scale Model Innovation’s. All assembled using Mek Pak.

27.3.23 More construction work on the footbridge and warehouse building.

Operating session 13.3.23. Middleton Central will be at the Nottingham Model Rail show in November.

A busy evening at Middleton Central.

When operating from the front of the layout, the upper level of the warehouse is removed and control panel tilted for easy point and uncoupling operation. Some scenic work with the modern warehouse being fitted to the backscene board . 108 DMU on the upper stabling sidings, and 47 522 on the kick back siding.

Class 24 on Speedlink train at the warehouse. Class 108 DMU stabled in the sidings while class 47 shunts parcels stock. Signal box first time on the layout, also still under construction.

Warehouse canopy valance completed. The protruding girders will have posts fitted between tracks at a later date. Still lots to do with this building. Roof with gutter boxes, drain pipes and girder brackets.
