  1. Am just about to go to our usual Sunday morning session with our EM layout, and I know that everywhere I look there will be evidence of Iain's influence. RIP Iain - the hobby has lost a great influence , and a lovely man.
  2. Got my subscription copy today, Sept 5th. Have to say that it is the least interesting MRJ I can remember. Three adverts for shows that that been and gone! Very disappointing.
  3. Drove to Motherwell from Merseyside on business a couple of times one winter. Snow, Ice, really miserable. However, meetings were in a couple of distilleries so..........not bad really!!
  4. MRJ 287 just arrived in the post (back to a stiffened envelope so a little bit of useful cardboard buildings material!}. So far looks like an OK issue, although I'm not really impressed by the rather dismal night-shots of a layout, but each to his own.
  5. What an interesting series of postings MRJ 286 has generated. I must admit that my first thought on seeing the new address for subs etc, was of Clegg and Foggy looking in a shop window and pondering on what M.R.J . might stand for! Meanwhile the bloke in old wellies had already got two or three rude meanings. Good luck to the Cygnets in their new nest!
  6. Thank you Ian, lovely picture by the way! I'll check out my local Landie dealer asap.
  7. Has anyone found a car paint rattle-can that is a good match for Cambrian coach green, please? I'm told that the Bronze Green effect stemmed mainly from the varnish used, but what, if any, base colour has been used? I recall Landrover had a Bronze Green but dont know how it would match.
  8. I have never had to use subtefuge to get my wife to agree to visiting Venice or Padua! Train journey between by Red Arrow is so easy too! Sadly, the virus and old age makes another trip unlikely!
  9. Some years age, a punter in front of our layout, Manafon Mills, asked his pal, "Is this EM or P4?". His pal replied, "I think it's EM, they seem to be enjoying themselves!"
  10. I'd love it to be either of these, Andy! Sadly, it's all about survival for over 80 years!
  11. Two New Year gifts in two days! Got my Covid vaccination yesterday and MRJ 281 arrived today. 2021 has started well after all!
  12. I have known Alan for more than 30 years, dating back to him being a Methodist Minister in Wrexham, and latterly through my visits to the Rhyl Miniature Railway. Sociable, and very knowledgeble on Welsh railways, i'll miss seeing him sitting at his "Jack the Station Cat" sales -table at Rhyl events, and send sincere condolences to his family and friends.
  13. My copy has just popped through the letterbox!
  14. A simple drawing to L-Cut in Bridgenorth {they have a web site) and they will give you a reasonable price. Just a satisfied customer.
  15. So sorry to read you have had to give up the layout. Hope things go better heath-wise in the future. Dave
  16. Re facemasks, what are bank robbers wearing these days?
  17. Just received a set of 0 Gauge wheels from Slaters within two or three days of ordering. Very satisfied.
  18. It;s a square box with embossed brickwork on it. You could make one for less than a fiver!
  19. Here in Wales we like to let the English go on believing this if it amuses them. We remember that Wales was Wales when England was a pup! Definately now coat, hat!
  20. Well the 40mph speed limit should make this years TT races safer!
  21. Oh! John would have made So Much of his obituary being next to that of a peer of the realm!
  22. I'm in a quandry! Not only is the the local Smiffs where I have a reserved copy "temporarily closed", but the children have placed a ban on me going out to search other outlets.
  23. Amazon currently have packs of 15 different size o rings for less than £7. I;m sure manufacturers would use standard sizes so you would be unlucky if none fitted.
  24. 271 still on smiffs shelf in North Wales
